  2. at least you still have a job though. A lot of people in the UK are happy to see a pay freeze because it means that their job still exists to be frozen in the first place. unfortunately for me I am about to start job hunting, I am in a fixed term positions that comes to an end later in the year .

  5. FYI we didn't lose DS, we decided that neiter of us had the time to carry it on so when SSCC went down we released the files.

I am not too familiar with gainward kit but the 2048 mb memory is very attractive in a sub £200 card. TY for your help on this one
  7. I say yes but... I think bringing it back as a flagging zone is not the way to go, but turning it back into a turf PB zone is. IMHO the turf gameplay and rank system were the best tings about the zone in the past. ASSS opens up a lot of possibilities to develop that theme and really update the classic DS. I don't like the idea of buying your items in a shop, HS has that done already, but having "ships" available with rank as before, perhaps having items added with rank as well would be nice. You could also make items available as rank goes up and allow a player to equip/swap items they have available as they play in the spawns or at bases. Something I would have liked to do was to make balling and capturing spawns/bases worth something. Perhaps a goal gives you a temp boos like super of shields, and controlling a base/spawn allows you to have access to new items such as thors. Just my 2 cents, thought about this quite a bit before real life killed any hope of CRe and I implementing anything.

  9. I really like the idea of locking a player on a freq for a game. One thing that often annoys me its going into spec after a lag spike and being put back on the other team.

  12. This is interesting, but not surprising given evolutions ability to adapt. Given Asnics properties are similar to phosphorus it is logical that organisms living in an arsenic rich environment may evolve to do this. Incorporation of alternative elements of biomolecues is common. I have to confess i have only skimmed over the press articles so far, I have a science subscription though so I will probably go find the actual paper when I get some spare time. It looks to melike they are saying the organism has evolved to tolerate high arsnic levels and encorporate it if it has to, but phosphorus is still the element of choice when it is available. @ purge, for reference, phosphorous is usually taken up as inorganic phosphate rather then ATP. ATP is a very precious resource usually made and consumed as it is needed rather then produced in excess and released into the surroundings.

  14. its mostly processing time that might be an issue. I have no idea how much load a multi-step procedure like the one I described upon ?flag would take though.
  15. this is true, then havving a difference of two when teams are full of 10k + players will make the teams less even. Make things more complex still but an "If exp < 10000" would fix it. Unfortunatly i suspect that this method may be a bit too complex to impliment though.
  16. exp is a reliable measure of ability, you have to remember that a very skilled player may has a very basic ship and thus cannot be very effective. @ ArctixWolf The key I wanted to point out in my post is that one measure of eveness is not enough. You need to keep numbers around even and stop hopping as well as balance the skill.

  19. Grr the problem seems to have returned. Odd, it was fine yesterday ill see if i can get to the bottom of it tomorrow. Anyone else having this issue?
  20. a nice way to decide where a player goes could be using exp rather then numbers. Would be complex but doable. Perhaps the zone could take the average exp for a team. The team with the lowest average exp will get players where exp > avg and the other can have exp < avg If this was done with a condition that the difference in players was not larger then 2 or 3 it would be a nice way to do it as well. Stopping hoppers could probably be done as well, although it may be harder then this sounds. The zone keeps a record of who is on which team. If they leave ?flag and attempt to rejoin within a set time (say 2 mins) then it puts them back to the last known flagging freq. Essentially you would get the following matrix. 1) Has player been on a flagging frequency in the last 2 minutes? If yes - put playeron previous team If no - continue 2) Is the difference between the players on frequencies 90 and 91 > 2? If yes - put player on smallest team if no - continue 3) Determine players exp level of player and compare to average exp all flagging players If player exp is > avg - put player on low exp team If player exp is < avg - put player on high exp team

    Spider was insistant that it was not a ponzi scheeme. I am please its not just me that saw this. Apparently to begin its being run as a test with funding from spiderNL and a few other "investors". In the long term I like the idea of a loan system to make money to pay interest, kina like a high street bank BUT it has the issue that the loan cannot be secured and people can just run off with it.

    BUT as dr brain said in another thread bots are not zone sanctioned and so it is not exploiting a zone bug. The abuse of mod privileges however is something that can be tackled should TPTB wish to.
