  1. I have to agree with this post. as far as DIY projects go this will be very easy indeed. All you need is some wood, a saw, some sandpaper, glue and screws. I would also be tempted to add rubberized feet and some kind of felt topping as well. May as well varnish it to give it a good finish while you are at it. The bonus is that you will be able to make it in a way that is ideal for comfort, ideal for the desk it is being used on. Have you considerd getting a full sized USB keyboard for it? In my experience laptop keyboards are very uncomfortable for long-term use.
  2. The issue is simply a lack of development. The game is currently stuck in a downward spiral. The old guard of this game have been disappearing as real life kicks in and the time to play and work on the game disappears. The lack of development has left subspace miles behind the modern games that draw in the new players and developers. The way we save the game is simple. One of the next gen clients need completion, zones need to be brought up to date to make the most of it and the community needs to re center and reorganize to keep moving forward. The problem is the spiral is now so deep there are very few left capable of actually doing this.

how recent is the most recent version, I can digout mu old PC and see if its on there but it will probably be 6 months old if i have a copy.
  9. As I said before i would be willing to contribute a very small amount here and there towards it; however due to time constraints I would take a very backseat role (read be mostly in spec) in any future of the zone.

    SSCC down

As above. Freakmonker contacted me a couple of weeks ago telling me he planned to shut SSCC down and that I should take zone backups. This is what pushed us to shut down DS in the end.
  11. bump. I need my chatnut fix
  12. the continuum? does look a bit weird to me as well. I think "About Continuum" would be better, but i cant see it looking right so didnt comment on this. I think Continuum? is the best way of doing it, unless 2 leves with a smaller font will work.
  13. better still, the time could be used to finish the project rather then go backwards.
  14. I think it has a better chance then a TW sub arena. It has always been a popular zone until devolpment stalled and staff activity dropped off. Personally I would favor a restoration to the turf style (something I started to work on and never finished; I will dig up the files and release those as well later). We found with a good staff base the zone would pull a largeish population. Unfortunatly getting that staff base sorted with no free time is absolutley impossible.
  15. zone was dead, what it needs is someone with the time to take it from here and bring it back to what it was. I think releasing the files will give it more chance then me and cre sitting in spec with the bots.
  16. THis is a real shame, but unfortunatly neither of us have the spare time to dev and revive the zone (Damn you real life!). It's very hard to see the zone go, but this community doesn't need people like me hanging onto a dead zone when somone else may be able to give it the attention it needs. If someone does take the project foward I would be happy to offer a little help and have some light involvement though. I'm not ready to quid this game completly just yet! It's been fun over the past however many years though, sad to have to bring it to an end
  17. does anyone else find it renders pages slightly slower then 3.6?
  18. apparently it has been done on the HD2 as well. Shame the phone needs to be rooted to do it though. Id rather keep my warranty at this point.
  19. I slacked my way through high school and A-level collage. Then realized that I was lucky to make my way to a good university and decided to sort my self out. Now i'm doing a doctorate in biochemistry. Its not too late!
  20. I don't think electric cars need to be counted out just yet. Unfortunately though as the power is usually generated from fossil fuel burning they actually pollute more as stated above. I think at this point it is proving that they can be practical that is important. It will be the case that most energy is produced in a low carbon way in the future and burning fuel to power a car will be impractical. Thankfully these early pioneers will mature the technology allowing the switchover to be pretty much seamless when the time comes. This of course is provided that hydrogen doesn't become dominant in the medium term.
  21. any updates with this project?
  22. Once again great work. And your subtitle is wrong, you need to get bored more!
  23. they say talking to yourself is a sign of madness...
  24. ROFL! couldn't say it any better.
  25. the thread there seems to say it all. Its all about load reallly. If itwas running a large network with 100 odd users then perhaps it would make a dofference. Than again in such a situation you would probably be using hardware designed for that purpose. As far as customising for the sake of making it unique, why the hell not? Guess my router is more out of sight, out of mind so have never thought about how it looks.
