(they had some of the german code machines and ciphers to do that thanks to the US and British navies confiscation of them from U-Boats...some computers were used im sure but they werent all that vital to it) think it was built in pennsylvania... if you want to get snippy there were primitive computing devices like the abacus or the punch-card dials ones in like the 1700-1800s anyhoo this topic has become pointless

Temp, I'm not getting on your !@#$%^&* about this but it really is frustrating when we're supposed to use these forums to give our feedback on the zone and decisions made by staff and they are blatantly ignored. This flag poll, while unofficial, makes a strong case that staff should start an endorsed poll to determine which way the players want the flag game to be done. Take this poll as a sign that they should make a vote, either in the pub or on the forum and listen to that. As of yet, they havent done that and havent shown any indication that they intend to. Seeing as how the forum is oft-advertised in the zone, staff should be required to actually take seriously what is discussed here. Of course they don't need to take seriously posted threads like "Lets give the levi 8000 energy and shields" but threads like this that have valid points should be recognized. I can afford to be self-righteous because I'm not the one who changes sets, I'm not the one who ignores the forum, and I'm not the one who hasn't even bothered to take this issue into a real discussion endorsed by staff (and I don't mean you temp, i mean the upper staffers). Hopefully this will all be straightened out by the time I'm able to get back into the zone... I'll try and keep up to date on the forums here especially on this topic so forgive me if I end up posting on here a week or two from now and am completely out of date. Last thing is just advice to the staff: When valid topics are brought to the forum and discussed, maybe staff should pay attention and take a real interest in what the players think by polling them once in awhile and not leaving it to individual players to bring these things up (props to you Maur! ). Good idea there Sama, also, and I've said this forever, why can't we have people get points for KILLING? For those who want to play for kills its a nice bonus...I'm not fond of the movable flag either for the reasons Sama stated above. I like the idea of the messages if you were on a roll of killing or something like that to keep things interesting. Of course, if you REALLY wanted to get pub pop back up, you could, oh, i dont know, bring back the old sets Oh, and by the way, with that whole "staff is not obligated to take into consideration the poll etc etc etc." thatis such a load of holier-than-thou bull!@#$%^&*. Sure, you aren't obligated to take into consideration what the players like/dislike, just as we aren't obligated to play this zone (Hey, GreatOneDuh has a zone up now, and that other zone has scrabble oh no, is this advertising?! oh, nope, its a threat ). Advice to staff would be to take CAREFUL CONSIDERATION (double underline, boldfaced, brightly colored blood dripping letters) of what the PLAYERS (not the zombies who sit in spec for hours on end and don't play pub-I'm looking at YOU!) like/dislike especially the vets who have been around here for a long time... they're the loyal players who you should listen to now and again (Why won't anybody listen to me? Is it because I insert these little comments or is it cuz tomorrow I'll be gone again and everyone will forget about me?). If you built it, they will come... Go the distance... Wow this was a good one, wish I had gotten on to this earlier. First off one little-known fact: Hitler was not endorsed by anywhere near a majoriry of Germans... the percentages that brought National Socialism (Nazi Party) to power in Germany were something like 38% National Socialism 35% Communist 18% Liberalism (The gov't in place at the time) Hitler only came to power because more people feared communism than Fascism so the majority of people in Germany at the time weren't dumb Nazi's but it's just that Germany didn't have a stipulation that the party had to achieve a majority. Now, on to the education thing: To say that people who voted for Bush are less intelligent is extremely insulting and very arrogant. Do you want to know the main reason people in the midwest voted Bush? Morality and economics...yeah that's right ECONOMICS... because the Democratic party hasn't worked for AMERICAN AGRICULTURE. During the Clinton years, farmers faced record LOW prices for crops and livestock. Clinton brought NAFTA in and sold out American farmers under the guise of "free trade" when the policies of other countries have been anything but free or fair. Just like anyone else, we don't like getting kicked in the balls and we remember those who did it. We arent going to vote for people who think that we are ignorant hicks and until they LEARN that it will remain so. Scores on tests, reading, math, english, and science scores are all higher for schools in these rural areas that you call ignorant. Most farmers I know have 4 yr. degrees in their fields, be it Animal Range Sciences, Ag. Econ., Ag Systems Mngmt., or other varied sciences. Those that don't have gone to 2 year or specialized schools that focus on things like feedlot operations, machinery operation/repair, or AI schools (if you don't know what AI means then find out yourselves, and I dont mean artificial intelligence) It takes a lot more INTELLECT to make a farm or livestock operation work than it does to weld the same door to the same car at some !@#$%^&*embly line in Detroit! We don't hate democrats, we elect them to the Senate and House, and they do a fairly good job, but it seems that so many democrats hate us because we exercise our choices and beliefs, not just pay lip-service to them. If I were dead-set against all democrats, why would I have voted for three of them to represent my state this year?! I guess I'm just a hypocrite right?! You better define intelligence because if intelligence means "Vote my way or you're stupid" then let's all just go back to 3rd grade and have fights about cutting in front of someone in the line or he stole my crayons. Sorry but when people accuse me of being an idiot because of my vote, I get very pissed off. I don't mean to insult anyone here and if I did, please accept my apologies.

First off, that link didnt work for me so I don't know what the whole blonde lady thing is all about... I like Canada. The people I've met from there have been really good folks a lot like the people around where I live (not surprising as the state I live in could easily be called South Sasketchewan ). Granted, I don't really have any experience with people from the western or eastern parts of Canada much as how I have little contact with Americans from the respective coasts so I can't really comment on any of them. But it is my view that the coasts of the US are just plain f***ed up . Canada does better than the US in terms of their socialness (sorry can't think of a good word for what I'm thinking of). Anyone can see that just by watching the garbage coming from TV networks especially FOX...I mean "Who's Your Daddy?"? C'mon, let's at least TRY to not appear to be morons (yeah all reality shows suck !@#$%^&*). US does better in things like ag quality control. There's a lot of stuff that each excells at but whats the point in listing a bunch? Those that just say "USA sucks" get filtered out by me. Those that criticize intelligently will get listened to, I may not agree with you, but I'll respect what you believe as I would hope anyone else does the same. As for crime and gang problems, there is really no problem with that where I'm from...very little crime, if there are gangs they don't have any power cuz they know that everyone else around here won't tolerate that. I don't know if the gang thing is such a problem in the US anymore just because I don't hear much about it as in years past, I could be wrong I just don't know. Anyways, US and Canada have been close allies and friends for a long time nothing is going to change that.
