Unfortunately I don't have SysOp powers yet. I was given the password, but apparently, from what I've been told it's useless if you're not on sysop.txt, which apparently I'm not >;P! I've spoken with some people about what I'm planning to do. More information will be available once we get to work.

Maybe he didn't, I don't know, I wasn't there. But I do know that without Mike, the zone wouldn't have been created in the first place. If I remember what they said correctly, he was the one with the connects.. Who knows.. maybe Telson and Emblazon would have their wish come true (the zone shut down) if Mike wasn't the owner.

Meh. Mike was one of the original three creators, it makes sense that he's the owner. And if you knew how things worked, you'd know that without Mike, 17th would probably be lost. It may not appear that way from your point of view, but it's the truth. I haven't said that he'll be a Zone Dev, I said that he'll make a decision. He always has in previous situations like this one, so why wouldn't he now?

Sadly, I agree with Trip'. Let's start with the zone first and then worry about the website >;Z

What's the hurry? When Mike hires someone for Head SysOp (which I assume he will and believe he has to), then it'll be that person, or whoever he hires's job to inform people of what's going on. But right now, nothing appears to be happening, because there's no Head SysOp to run things. All we can do right now is wait and see what Mike decides to do. I need to talk with him but I haven't been able to due to different time zones. Something will happen eventually >;P!

It can only be "officially" declared dead if Mike says that it's dead and decides to shut it down, which won't happen. It's been been declared dead by players a long time ago, but as I've said I don't know how many times, it's been dead like this before and it has come back to life. Why completly erase a zone that has so much potential? I don't understand you people. You're talking about 17th as if it's an animal that's been fatally injured.. but anything is possible, as history in this zone has proved.

I think it's more likely that he read the replies count next to the thread !@#$%^&*le, thinking it was the amount of posts in the thread, before he posted. Speculate!

The state of the zone is the very reason to why I've been very critical towards staff, naht. I believe I've had good reasons, because I know this could've easily have been avoided had there been someone who knew how to manage the zone. But I do admit that it got to the point where I'd be too critical to staff, or should I say some staffers, because I know that a lot of staffers did their job as well as they possibly could, and obviously I was never critical towards them. I won't deny that I've been very immature about it. I've been here since early 2001, and it got pretty frustrating when Staff wouldn't listen to us players (those who knew what they were talking about anyways) when we told them that what they were doing was wrong, that it would have very bad consequences. Of course they'd laugh at me and everyone else who claimed the same. And where are they now? They're all long gone because they either never really cared about the zone or gave up, moved on, whatever you want to call it. My point is that my reactions were natural, it's not an excuse, it is the reason and I think you'd understand if you saw things from my perspective. Of course, if you don't know me and only looked at the way I acted towards those staffers then you'll think I'm an !@#$%^&*hole. And those who have that opinion about me probably won't change it, but apparently they're in the minority >;P! But I do believe that it's in the past now, and is therefor more or less irrelevant. 17th now has a chance to start over again. I know that the potential is still there, the tricky part is to bring it forward, give it shape and form, and present it to the players who're interested in this type of gameplay that I know is unique in SubSpace.

Why the !@#$%^&* would you want the zone to shut down? It's already been declared dead, but it doesn't mean that it has to vanish and become unreachable from everybody. ..just remove it from your zone list or something.. some people might want to visit once in awhile.. like to duel, or maybe play a little rumble.. I like to just reminisce sometimes in some old arenas ^_^ Remembering memories so vividly.. BTW, Complex was never used? News to me.. I seem to remember Complex being up in public with bot and everything for awhile..

"Reviving" wouldn't even be hard if you mean making it playable again, I wouldn't even be concerned about that. I'd be more concerned about how to develop it from where it went off-track in a new way but keeping that unique 17th flavour >;P

Haha, what can I say.. I'm surprised.. No, 17th wouldn't become a DSB look-a-like. If you look at my past arguments about pub changes you'll see that I've given pretty good reasons as to why those changes would suit 17th the best. And no, Rumble wouldn't go pub >;P It's always been my belief that we need to develop the zone with all ships in mind rather than just the javelin. MMaverick, I agree that giving any random player who has no experience in the zone whatsoever any kind of power is a bad thing to do. Think about it, that's exactly what's been done a lot of times, before and after your time in 17th Staff. My hopes and expectations for 17th are a lot higher than the past few SysOps, because I truly believe in 17th and know its potential.. and it's still my belief that those in control haven't stayed true to 17th, which led to 17th losing its iden!@#$%^&*y. Whatever I'd do in 17th, I'd give a !@#$%^&* good reason, like I've given reason to my suggestions back when I was hoping they weren't in vain. I'm not surprised that many wouldn't want to see me as Head SysOp, or would love to see me fail. Many blatantly biased, some might not believe in my capabilities. Either way, for 17th to become playable again, we need people in charge who share a clear vision for 17th. Whatever that vision may be, change towards that and not a million other visions is a must if we want 17th to strive for development. My objective would be to stick to a vision that would stay true to 17th in all ways possible. Jeez didn't mean to put up a lil' speech ;/

Nice nice. Thanks to Saty we played a good Rumble with 4 teams of oldies with some more in spec I haven't seen a Rumble being played in months, but obviously this was just a one-time thing. If we had a host maybe we could've played SBL or if we had a 2v2 bot we could've played that and kept the zone alive for a little longer. If we had an interesting pub, a thing like this could've sparkled a much longer gametime. But no.
