So hoch was right back in 2006? Didn't ASSS improve since then? Also for the lame man (layman), what makes ASSS better than subgame? I got that you don't use bots and it won't affect population counts. I understand in some general sense that more is possible. But not sure why.
-
For 99 cents that is a good deal, i'll look around. But amazon.ca sometimes lacks what amazon.com has, and as a canadian i can't buy downloadable music off of amazon.com. So i would need to buy actual CDs in that case. But hopefully amazon.ca has the downloadable music.. im kind of looking for 256 or greater kbit quality or VBR, if its 128 or 192, its not good enough.

Everyone should move to ASSS as it's better than subgame right? To bad no one is motivated to code modules required to make the movie easier for zones. If i could code i would go to every zone and transition them all to ASSS if i had too =/ I bet none of them would want to switch. I recall hoch's argument IN 2006 that ASSS was unstable. I have it saved somewhere.

LOL in that list one of the suspicious programs continuum doesn't like is Warcraft 3.. I have Comodo Antivirus and firewall, And continuum works fine. I also remember continuum working with AVG and Avast, but as i think both of those are crap i haven't used them in a long time. And continuum works fine with Superantispyware. Also if it works for me, it should work for anyone else. If it doesn't work because they have superantispyware, its still a computer issue and has nothing to do with superantispyware. Also i have many small programs MP3TAG File Shredder JDiskReport Freac HardDiskSerialNumberChanger HotspotShield Smac 2.0 TMAC v6 Zsoft Installer (finds all alterations to PC after install and uninstall, including registry entries, and modified or added/hidden files) Continuum doesn't care about any of these.
-
You said you have 4 Continuum Processes running at once. They just build up on each other every time you click the game to open it. To end all the processes you have to click 'End process tree' by right click on the Continuum.exe Process in Task Manager. http://img708.imageshack.us/img708/2808/continuump1.png Also this is a computer problem, not client. Did you restart the PC like cheese said?

Off topic, So where is the feature located where if you type 4 things fast in succession, you get disconnected from the zone? Is that client based, zone, or biller? Because Hockey zone does something different. Where if you type 4 things fast in succession you get gagged for 60 seconds. Why does HZ do this but the default for other zones is a d/c On Topic Today chaos pop display was 41 The in zone count was 27 + 14 bots. So chaos is back to being 'accurate'?
-
End process tree, will destroy everything. rather than end process... You need the tree one.. 'End process tree' It's there if you go over the process, and right click, in the menu. Then you know it's more likely a computer problem than a client one. Where did you download your Continuum client from? Link? Uninstall and re-install continuum.

Well a good feature for any new subspace client, would be ?find someone, last seen in 879 days. Then we will know what more than 10 days actually means. And there will be proof that there are hundreds even thousands of names, that are never used and not even refreshed. And yet still wont be reset for some dumb reason. If someone doesn't login for 1000 days they obviously don't need their name. If anything reseting names that have no logins after 1 year, would encourage people to stick around. I used to play MMPORGS, where you could have a whole house, 20 million in cash, all these items in your home, And if you didn't enter that house for more than 3 months. Then house would decay, and everyone could loot your items. So people who left on hiatus, had friends on the server who would refresh their home, every month or so.

Lol every day there is a new im banned thread for hyperspace.. some of them are real, and most are accidents

We could get rid of the old installer, and from this point on have a new installer, (obviously someone has to do all the work) with a better default skin, and any other changes. Maybe fix the default resolution. We would need to replace all the installers on the internet, for it to really make a difference. By 'we' i mean you.. lol And by 'you' i mean whoever can and wants to do it. Someone should think about resetting names that have been unused for 5 years. There must be a way to see all those names and reset them at once. Polix? You can't argue that a person should keep a name if they never logged into that name for 5 years. Can you? I have around 20 names, but even i log into them once a month. So..

Cool thanks

Like peering, it's an exchange of traffic. But i think in continuum, the problems are limited. Each zone would do whats best for the other zone, because it benifits them both. HZ already has a working model, so Trench Wars would go with what is already proven to work, and just adminstrate it. Trench wars is a good choice, because many HZ players play Trench wars already, and Trench wars has the biggest population to distribute between both zones. Otherwise they could run HZ league half the summer, and then run the Trench wars league in the winter. This wouldn't really work with other zones, because other zones have a pub and a league. Both are pretty seperate. Trench wars could never bring people to the pub of another zone, only to the league. And since Hockey league and Hockey pub are virtually identical, it works for Hockey zone. However a zone like devastation has Baseduel as a league, which is completely different from their pub. And DSB has a whole deathstar, but their league is BABL currently, based on random mini maps. Even in the past DSB's leauge was sections of the deathstar, and not the whole deathstar. So many zones are not as easily integrated into a merge. While the WHOLE of Hockey zone could be treated as a Trench Wars League or Event.

Does anyone know any good classical music peices? I already have Mozart - Piano Sonata No.11: Rondo Alla Turca Mozart - Piano Concerto No.21: Andante Mozart - Die Zauberflote: Der Holle Rache Mozart - Requim: Confutatis and Lacrymosa Mozart - Flute and Harp Concerto: Andantino Mozart - Serenade No.13 Eine Kleine Nachtmusik: Allegro Mozart - Marriage of Figaro: Overture Mozart - Symphony No.40: Molto Allegro Mozart - Marriage of Figaro: Voi Che Sapete Mozart - Symphony No.25: Allegro con brio Chopin - Piano Sonata No.2 in B-flat minor, Op.35:III. Marche Funebre Lento Chopin - Nocturne No.20 In C sharp minor. Op. Posth. Chopin - Nocturne in E-flat Major, Op.9 No.2 Handel - Suite No.4 in D minor Sarabande Handel - Water Music Suite No.2 in G Major Johann Sebastian Bach - I have everything, don't need anything. Let me know of anything else. I don't need Hans Zimmer, Steven Jablonsky, Alan Silvestri, John Williams, Michael Nyman, Brad Fiedel, or Ennio Marricone, or any other movie composers as i have everything already. But if you know a good movie composer not mentioned then fire away =p

It's more of a 'on paper' move, not an actual move polix. Trench and HZ would have diffrent zones still and be connected through ?Arena. (So all features would be intact in HZ, like settings, replay, etc? if that's what you were getting at) The only thing that would need to be killed, would be the RSHL website, which would be incorporated into the Trench Wars Website. I was also only brainstorming, one possible way to make two zones merge.. by having them interact their leagues. But otherwise.. im not even for this idea.. it's really far fetched. lol
-
You're disagreement from the beginning seems to be with how polix asked you. Which is as childish as it gets. No one cares about the past (sorry Stag Shot), all you did for ASSS, or why you "deserve" a deadline that satisfies your whole plan in life. All that matters is that there is a problem and it should be fixed. Get on the same page or get out. Sure blackmail sucks. Lots of people do it. We can debate how stupid they are in another thread. "Ban this guy or i won't play the game." "Kick him from the squad or i'll leave the squad." Blah blah. Polix gave you a deadline, get over it.

Do we need Priitk's Server? Other zones have been hosted on other servers before. Like DSB having it's own server, or Lynx had a server, or Snrrub. But i guess they are all connected to the Biller. It's not possible to set up a new biller? Or something. And yeah i don't know what im talking about, thats why im asking questions. =/

I don't think people will play them. Merging zones that died is worth trying. So 17th Parallel or Starwars Zone falls in this category. Merging zones that were always dead, is a waste of time. But you can try it, since they are dead anyway. I don't even know which zones never had people. Merging zones that are alive will likely harm the zone. Hockey zone, Devastation, still fairly active. My position is i don't think merging is good especially if it skews population display. But i see no harm in merging an always dead zone, or zones that used to have people but have none now. Since no one plays them anyway, there is nothing to lose with a merge, you can only gain. (Do i think it's possible to gain players?) Probably not, i think people will stick to the zone they are playing. So my position is that im not against trying, and it's up to the community what they want to do with their respective zone. As a side note. Humans aren't created equal, but we believe in equal consideration for all, and thus that's what we mean by equality. Equality is not that you have the skills i have, or the brains, or the physical ability. It's just equal consideration. This applies to zones too. There is a zone which is better than the rest, we may not be able to determine it. Because people don't like change, and cling to familiar atmospheres. And even those who play multiple zones, have obligations, ties, and loyalties to friends, and the zone itself, built upon memories and experieces they had there. So really the best zone doesn't matter, only the zone where you have the most invested.. It's better a dead zone, become a bigger zones event, than remain at 0 people for 3 years, and eventually shut down.. unworked on, unattended, and ignored completely. With all the files and settings lost in the process. At least as an event the moderators would cycle events, and the zone/event would be played once a week, when some event ref hosts it. For a lively zone, it's better to maintain your independance and originality. The only way merging hockey zone might work, is if Trench wars made an official hockey league. Not only including the 100 people already playing HZ league in HZ, but also involving everyone in TW not in hockey league. And to merge the RSHL website into the trench wars one. From there the zones would be seperate still (as running everything on one zone would lag), but linked through ?Arena. And Trench wars would hold no other leagues during the hockey league (though you could run leagues simultaneously), and take in sign up applications from trench war players. Basically keeping zones independant, but having one zone host all the leagues might inspire zones to interact more.

Lol add speed holes (airflow), makes anything go faster.. take it from Homer Simpson.. all you need is a pickaxe though i think it's better to buy a new car, than to ever restore an engine or tranny.. kind of blowing your money.. but i guess if your having fun learning/fixing things, and doing it yourself then in that case it's more like using money for entertainment/learning. You can buy a crane that will hold engines.. and they aren't too big, and fit in your garage. Probably cost 100-200$. My dad had one when he restored the engine for our van. He took the whole engine out and the crane held it. The crane was no longer than 6 feet. And about the same height.

This is everyone's preference. No one outright completely disagrees with trying to merge the zones for "More convenient" access between zones. There is observational evidence that it doesn't benifit zones, at least from a perspective i can talk about which is DSB. DSB sees no new players from EG or Choas zone. Most players respectively stay in the zone they prefer despite their being more convenient access to other zones. That aside if there is a possibility it can somehow benifit zones, then no one is against trying it. However this possibility is nullified if the zone is lieing about population which has been shown to upset much of the community in each zone, as well as being demoralizing to new players who had their expectations up. The idea here is to ACHIEVE what you want, except to do it with accurate population displays. And hence until that time it can be achieved that way, it should be disabled, until people can spare more time to make it work correctly. I completely agree, that it could be a small site, and it could even be a player who messaged polix pretending to be a small site. Infact the latter is what crossed my mind first, and i found it kind of funny that polix might have gotten coerced or fooled. But that aside there is no way to prove a player from the community sent the letter, and that is why i'll assume polix took the letter seriously, and it's the same reason i'll take the letter seriously, because well it's the benifit of the doubt. Sure maybe only one or two players are affected, and if you believe the ends justify the means, you won't really care about 2 players who had their hopes up and enter a zone and see it has 6 people. But ultimately this reflects poorly on the whole of continuum, the outcome being positive or negative doesn't really matter. We don't know for sure what the merge does, or if faking pops harms zones. (Even though we have some facts in support of both cases). What we do know for sure is that it's wrong to advertise falsely and to lie. If you don't care about one or two guys who leave because every zone is lying about population, then why does it even matter if your zone has players from the merge of zones? You disregard the potential loss of faking populations, and yet still want a potential gain from merging zones. That just makes you a hypocrite. And i definitely agree with Stags post, if i was in the position push Priitk, believe me i would do it everyday, and no one could do it better. But few people are in that position, and one of them is Polix.

Even if you were busy, thinking of January as a reasonable time frame is really far fetched. If you are not too busy to post, then i'll assume based on what other people are saying (as i have no experience with zones, the problem in question or programming) that this specific problem is fairly easy to fix within a short time frame. January is half a year away. Even in the real world, in the work place you have two weeks notice for most things. If ten days is not enough time, then maybe 20 days is more reasonable. But hoping you get until January is just.. crazy. Especially since the problem has persisted for more than 6 months already.

i agree with everyone, plus as a troll i don't discriminate.

It's best not to upload a bot (module) unless it works in the first place. Otherwise you would be half assed. No one would knowingly upload something that's broken. Unless they did it to troubleshoot the problem and fix it. So why are they leaving it up now that they know it's broken? The population to client count i did earlier said the same thing.
-
Well subgame was first, bot is just the word i use to summarize both bot and module. Because a bot is pretty much made the same way a module is, Someone programs code. And changing settings is different than programming code. Hence bot and settings.
-
Bottom line is you don't have mods warn people for the way the game is. You either fix it through settings or bot, and move on. If mods are going to give warnings then it falls under telling people how to play the game, because someone rages that it's not fair, and it's lame. I never disagreed with fixing gameplay to make it balanced. I disagreed with telling people how to play because someone is too lazy to fix the game play, or someone feels entitled to having the game played their way.
