  1. http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=http%20server Technically this is not a webserver. The client does not send http requests. You just use the current system whereby the server checks the checksum of the current news file to see if it matches the one on the server. If it doesn't, it sends the file to the client and overwrites the existing file. Also note that the page can not be accessed with clients other than those using the subspace/continuum protocol.
  2. Basically its an empty personal homepage bulked up by phpnuke.
  3. Simple fixes: Selling shrap cheap (all ships can get shrap so we don't have the fullcharge problem) Altering the start bounties. Personally I think the current system is fair and that ships shouldn't be completely fully armed or people would just kami. I like greening
  4. Shanky forums: more helpful, less abusive to newbie "sysops".
  5. *makes notes from grel and makes appropriate changes to the top post* Thankyou Anyone using them yet? I think subspacedownloads should be at the very least.
  6. MisterManners: Reshack = Resource Editor. You need additional code to make things provide information. Security will Not be lowered. p.s. Fix the stupid code in your signature. How much of this can Mr. Ekted do ahead of the next release?
  7. Addendum: the pages should not open external files i.e. it should not be able to download flash or images from another webserver for obvious reasons.
  8. As mentioned in the previous thread, I think that it should only be able to send html (possibly css) with all scripting stripped out. No images, no files. It would NOT require a webserver (wtf bargeld?!!) and I think that the file should be opened using the default web browser instead of messing about trying to create a custom rendering engine for continuum.
  9. The worm described spreads over network shares. It causes no real damage (its only created to spread) but it'll probably stop continuum from working since it checks itself for tampering. NOTHING to do with Priitk and nothing we can do unless someone gives the link.
  10. I think my search query was something along the lines of pernille+password at the time. It returned "enter your password to view pernille's erotic world" or something like that. It was one of those random things I did before I got fired from staff, Telson and maka might remember the details of the conversation.
  11. Congrats. I look forward to a future matchup between babym33p and madhaha' s hat.
  12. Please post completed fonts. It'd help other zones and they might even be included in the next release...
  13. You misunderstand. It is possible to set up subgame (and probably ASSS) for a local or lan server. Why not have one preconfigured with a launcher utility?
  14. A short reminder: the real golden 17th awards are due in about 3 months time. Get playing.
  15. I remember accidentally discovering a site called pernille's erotic playground Apparently there is also a male pernille seeking marriage in north norway and a large variety of porn models named pernille. God knows why you wanted a horseriding one.
  16. Subspace webmasters, please set the following mimetypes: application/x-subspace-lvl for lvl files application/x-subspace-lvz for lvz files I asked for someone to come up with a standard before but no-one was forthcomming. These are now the ones I use and it'd make sense if everyone used the same. Spread the word.
  17. I gave Catid the broken link details last night. Everything should be fixed either now or in the very near future. In any case there were only 7 broken links.
  18. Amusing to see communist arguments being used for a capitalist cause. Once upon a time a man once said that every member of society should be a productive worker and that the bourgeois were making everyone suffer by doing little/no work while consuming a disproportionately huge amount of resources. His solution was for all labour and all resources to be shared equally. The communist system is now regarded as practically unfeasible. Aileron says that corporations are consuming huge amounts of wealth while producing nothing. His solution is to break up corporations that do not produce good and services and force everyone to be productive via compe!@#$%^&*ion with the losers remaining poor, starved, dead or whatever and the winners being rich and prosperous. I regard this system as practically unfeasible and probably more unstable. As I've said before, people don't care what system they live under, its the amount they get screwed that counts.
  19. Lets try this again: PLEASE GIVE THE URI/SITE YOU ARE DOWNLOADING THIS SO CALLED VIRUS FROM.

    17th Boredom

Your favourite ship is the terrier. Your suggestions would further increase the power of the terrier to a ridiculous level. Connection?

    17th Boredom

Yeah and while you're at it lose those useless lvl 1 emp bombs from the weasel and give it lvl 3 bullets and 5000 nrg. Then balance it out by removing the thor. Everyone I've talked to agrees with me.
  22. This should not be changed. Your tactics just need reworking, thats all. Minelaying is a devious art.

    Complant

Old attach bty for all ships: 35 New players unaccustomed to attach bty -*BAD WORD*-ed about it. Revised attach bty for all ships: 31 Thors, bursts and repels were toned down and reduced. People -*BAD WORD*-ed about the spiders Current system: 31 and 40 for the spiders. People -*BAD WORD*- about terriers and sharks. Proposed solution: 35 attach bty, 40 for spider, terrier, shark and levi.
  24. Stop asking Priit. What we really need is a premade offline test kit, especially since we now have two distinct kind of servers. It shouldn't be too hard to have a zipped copy of the latest client, server and all the settings set up for offline testing and a launching program to get everything running. Also if someone does a precompiled version of ASSS for windows and *nix as well then development would come a lot faster. Surely this is much better than 3 years of whining and just as convenient?
  25. I think my toggle idea would be somewhat faster than typing ?tignore all the time but it would stop ALL people attaching. Perhaps both systems could co-exist so you could nominate quickly not to be annoyed and also block out specific individuals. This suggests we could also do with a more permanent list like ignore.txt of all the people you NEVER want to attach to you...
