  1. Changing clientset settings, like maxspeed, quickly isn't practical (the real reason for the shipchange delay).
  2. If you can afford a sig weapon, you can probably afford the ammo. That's always been our thought with sig weapons.

There's also a Spacing Guild design without an H. <--- as my avatar. I personally prefer it, but in matters of style, I defer to the general population.
  4. Value points will not happen.

Who's said it's frowned upon? If I didn't want privs, I'd disable them... Six good people are more than a match for 8-10 incompetent ones on a pub team. Especially when the other pub is flanking them.
  6. I'm locking this thread, because nothing productive is being said. Wait until the tournament is over, then you can start complaining again.

One thing at a time, unix?
  8. The major issue is that there's really only one bomb damage setting. That means guns have three times the variety right off the bat.
  9. All of HS's shipsets are made from larger images of the ships. I think you can find the complete sets on subspace downloads, but I don't recall exactly where we found them. Here are two javelins: The first frame of the animated one is what we ended up using for Hyperspace.
  10. Some people have expressed concerns about turf replacing the main arena, and I'd like to address them here: turf will only be moved to the main arena when the majority of players feel that it is ready and without issue. That time is not upon us, and not close.
  11. Our current push is to shorten flag games. Helping bountying in bases defeats that.
  12. That was because my incompetent team didn't want to win the game. Lanc is fun when there's actually action going on. I can't be bothered to defend a base for an inferior team that will only lose all the flags we earned.
  13. I usually enjoy being a lanc anchor more than repeatedly rushing and dying. Some people naturally like it. If you don't like it, please don't assume no one likes it.
  14. We've disabled weapons in the ID tunnels. We're in the process of adding "mini" bases to 4 sectors. The remaining 3 are still open. By the time you read this, the bases will probably be uploaded. I've changed the exp reward formula. It's shown in the following graph. For those that care, the money reward formula is here:
  15. In general, most of your points are valid, though I'd say many people hop in a ship and center for fun rather than money payoff. That doesn't change your conclusion much, though. We could change powerballing to only have goals in the center and shut off at pop=10. Putting them in the center would decrease time (increasing DpTS). The major issue with setting the zone to work with low populations means that secondary pub arenas become a breeding ground for tradekillers. Historically, that's why we have the cutoffs in place.
  16. Teams: I would have only two publics, with no privates allowed. I tried to change the settings during the game last night, but I'm not sure I did it properly. Map: It was huge. I agree. The only question was if it would be an acceptable size with 30 players instead of 10. I wouldn't be opposed to adding mini bases around the turf flags. Mini bases are just beyond my limited mapping ability. Exp: I felt like the higher level exp rewards were fine, but I wouldn't mind making it 1 exp for 16 and 17 flags. Most flag games I see in the public arena end with 2-3 exp after at least an hour, so I don't feel like limiting exp is a major issue.

    turf arena

This evening, I ran a test of the new ?go turf. I played for a while and I felt that it was a lot of fun, but I'd like your feedback here. I'm considering dropping the warzone style flags in the main arena and putting turf in its place. Presuming we can improve the map, of course. I'd like to hear people's thoughts on this. It won't happen unless I get a generally favorable response from the population (see? I do listen sometimes). Questions I'd like to see answered: Was it fun? Was it more fun than main arena flagging? Were the rewards good/fair? How was the map? Would you like to see it become the public arena? (after your other concerns have been addressed, of course)
  18. Official? How is it official in any way?
  19. Because they either are impossible to implement or overlook basic aspects. I'm no longer planning on implementing this proposed idea, btw. No one seemed receptive, and I didn't figure out how to overcome the bountying issue.
  20. Err... No. Transformers are pretty good.
  21. ^ There's an issue with the gate timing being off when more than one person uses the gate.
  22. It's not a bad request, I'm just not sure when I'll have a chance to add it.
  23. Negliaglbe on the house scale yes, But on the country scale it makes a difference of a few power plants That's why they don't run the power plans, transmission lines or distribution networks anywhere near 110V. They use transformers to step the voltage down periodically.
  24. The resistive losses at the house level (where you find 110V) is negligible. The reason for using higher voltages is that you can get away with thinner wires within the home, and in several cases it's actually safer.
  25. We would have had smart grids at least a decade ago if it weren't for the US Government. The utility companies aren't allowed to do any sort of improvement without legislation. They spend millions of dollars in getting changes pushed through. Millions that they have to p!@#$%^&* on to us as consumers. Confess, you're already paying for it. You just don't see it on your statement. You could be paying a lot less if you used the power when it's cheaper if the companies were allowed to make billing happen more than monthly (like every 5 minutes). It costs a !@#$%^&* of a lot more to produce kWhs when there's heavy load on the grid. That's because resistive losses go up with the square of the current, which is proportional to the power and energy on a constant voltage system. I'm an electrical engineer, btw.
