I'd imagine having events in place prior to a tournament would be a better idea. Working with Psythe, since he's the only one willing and able to help do this, would be a good place to start. Having the events in place will allow you to have a standard and base, then at the same time foster the competition and group aspects that's required for something like this. Team work is virtually non-existent, squads are at best in their infancy, and there's no standard norm that we can all agree on. Also events would allow you to tweak things, such as ship setups, specials or not, what typeof bombs, etc.

They work if you time it well enough, you cant wait for them to get into rep radius range then rep, they'll explode before you have a chance to rep like that. Need to time thors well enough to the point that they will touch the rep radius while it's still activated, meaning you need to release your repel a tad earlier than normal.

Descriptions would be nice, I think it might make it more clear.

I've carried plenty of teams, I've already won with Penny and other dead weight on the same team. After a certain point, you just get sick of it.

If players arent playing right, it effects the entire team. Dead weight players and players who dont play properly are what cause stacking in the first place. Who would want to be on a team full of players that are dead weight or dont play properly? In a game of 7v7 if two players on a team dont contribute much, it's essentially 5v7. In a medium sized game like that, it makes a difference. Larger games it's not so much of a difference, but bad players can still easily shape the outcome. One game penny made a mistake by bringing flags to a different base, the team lost after that. If he had brought flags to the proper base, that team would've won the game.

Iirc spidernl said he did something which caused it to be balanced, which is why he changed it.

Doubling the spawn time isnt a good solution, considering that will effect all other ships as well. Ships such as the lanc where a long spawn time could effectively wipe out your team if you cannot attach to another lanc who is in base, etc. Also then you would need to change AD, small thing, but there could also be other items that might be effected that I'm not sure about or cant remember off the top of my head. No matter how you cut it, keeping on aw is the best counter to thor users. Even if they have to kill themselves, you're still adding at least an extra 4 or so secs which is huge for your team to recover.

The only issue is that there are times when you cant prevent the tks. For example, in a bline bombers are going to bomb, but rushers will still continue to rush, it's hard to prevent that and it's not wrong that they were tk'd. TKing is not a simple black and white topic, plenty of grey areas.

A single thor user is meant to weaken enemy for the team or finish off a weakened enemy. Two or more thor users are meant to try and kill enemy whether or not they've been weakened. Big ships are much harder to kill and of course will need a minimum of two thor users, especially the lanc. If you've built your lanc well, it can survive thors relatively easily. Especially since thors probably wont hit you directly if you're positioned well enough. Thors are a big problem when no one is trying to stop them and slow them down nor are they trying to block them. It's a tactic that no one is trying to counter, so why wouldnt it be effective?

The main problem arent thors that explode when they hit someone else and are faraway, the problem is when its three concentrated thors right on top of you essentially. The damage from a thor when it hits someone else is minimal, and you can minimize damage yourself by moving further away from the impact. This is why you shouldnt be bunched up into one central location, it's better to spread out and minimize the damage. We're not talking about negating thors, we're talking about minimizing their impact in the game. You're thinking about it all wrong.

Properly timed rep can stop infinite number of synced thors if they're all placed on top one another. Either way, first start trying to do something to counter them before calling them op because you're too lazy to try and counter them. Forgot to mention Wave Disperser as another counter to thors, as well as any bomb armor.

The point of antiwarp is to slow down the thor users, not negate the thor users completely. You're giving your team and lanc precious time to recharge, potentially 5-7 secs, depending on if they need to go back to ammo depot or not, which is quite a bit. And if the thor users can synchronize together, isnt that all the more power to them and shouldnt they be rewarded for doing that? Even if they do, they still have a chance that enemy can counter them via reps, thor blockers, etc. Also if 2 or more players are basically waiting on one another, they're not gunning nor are they rushing, allowing their team to be attacked more easily. Let's not forget, one rep can and often does rep away 2 or more reps, and if they really are in sync with one another, it'll rep 4-6 thors by two users. One rep mind you.

Just admitted to tking team on purpose. Warrants fines/bans etc

Antiwarp is probably the best way to neutralize thor users. It's a very simple and easy fix and extremely effective. Recently lanc'd is a game where enemy had 2-3 thor users. My lanc had nano and I only died once by thors. Another time I lanc'd with Metaphasic as my armor, this is when thor storms were extremely bad and teams generally had 4-5 thor users, yet I didnt die to them. People really need to stop complaining and learn to counter the thors instead. If there isnt an effective counter to something, fine feel free to start saying it needs to be toned down or nerfed, but when there's a clear and obvious counter and tactics to minimize the actual damage, just learn to play better rather than have the settings catered to you. Antiwarp, stop bunching up all together in one spot, repel properly, dodge by avoiding the splash damage to minimize, dont bomb your own teammates (especially lanc) and block thors for your team.

Could also redo calibration chip to allow 360 or 180 or whatever. Seeing as how its a useless item.

We going to do something about the turret bug?

Tempest Needs to be Nerfed - SilverBul!et Edition
Unix replied to silverbullet's topic in Hyperspace
Take the experience benefits away, not the actual item or how it's used. Lanc is the hardest ship to get any experience in a base and in center too.
