lol Whal... put yourself in the shoes of somebody who lives in poverty. obviously, they have different opportunities. what's more appealing? drug dealing and making instant cash, large amounts of it. or, going to school, possibly finishing off high school which would be a couple years then 3-4 years in college/university, before going out to look for a job. mind you, they're in desperate need of money. i've been in this position before, and drug dealing is a lot more appealing. i know of drug dealers who make around 3-4k a week.

seriously though Rootbear, that was uncalled for. but i'm bitin my tongue to not treat you like !@#$%^&* like everybody else did, that's the least amount of respect you can give me. it wouldn't have hurt you to simply ask who "Baby" was. while everybody was making fun of you, i was sitting here feeling bad for you and telling everybody to STFU. now, i can understand why they do pick on you. let me just say this: you DON'T want me to turn into one of those people because i can guarantee you that it'll be 100 times worse, and there are people still around who can tell you that messing with me is the worst mistake you can make. this is the first and last time i'm gonna ignore you, don't get mad at me because of what everybody else is saying about you, you got nobody to blame but yourself.

it's not that easy to get out, it's actually more easier to make stupid decisions than it is to make good ones. that was what i had to face, and yea i did make good decisions, but that was in the end. i didn't start off like that. i went down the wrong path and had go work my way back. believe it or not, poverty and money has a lot to do with the decisions that young people make.
-
but the kids you're talking about...how likely is that they'll go ride and die with a gang? not too likely. it's just an act, an imitation. i'm talking about the real deal. i'm surrounded by this daily. i see kids as young as 13 years old who would literally kill somebody if they got pissed off. there's a difference between acting that way and living the lifestyle. unfortunately, the area you're in, you don't see a lot of that. if you did see it, you would see the difference automatically. i didn't grow up a nice neighborhood, i went to one of the poorest schools in the area, but it wasn't that bad compared to many other places. many people try to put on that hard tough image, but that was how i grew up. i got into so many fights. here's the difference: the kids in your area are more likely to back out of a serious fight than me. when it comes down to it, fists start flying, knives show up, i can guarantee that the people you're talkng about would run.

ThunderJam, it's called poverty. i've already said this before, but America doesn't make it easy for African Americans and Hispanics (make up most of the population living in poverty) to get out. When you live under those conditions, you're easily influenced to make bad decisions concerning guns, drugs, and gangs because 1) many households have only 1 parent, who is always working 2) school is not a top priority because of poor conditions, money making is (leads to drug dealing, etc.)

honestly, i think most people misunderstand the hip hop culture. people living on the streets know the culture. you guys, who watch it on TV and hear it through music, don't even know the half of it. it doesn't really involve guns or weapons. it's just a way of life... a style of dressing, money chasing, nice cars, jewelery, etc. the guns in the RECENT hip hop music video... that isn't real hip hop. real hip hop is old school, talking about the hard life living in the ghetto and going through struggles. don't jump to conclusions that hip hop culture glorifies violence. lmao. good luck with that mentality. it's like you people go around living in fear. you're carrying a gun because the next person is carrying a gun, so it's your right. and that other person thinks exactly the same thing. it's a never-ending cycle. actually, kinda sad that this way of thinking was instilled into you.

seriously, lol, Canada is DEFINITELY a safer country than America. i don't know why people continue to try and find statistics to prove otherwise, because it isn't true. Canada remains one of the safest countries. the only way you can be shot at or be killed by a gun is if you !@#$%^&*ociate yourself with gangs, guns, and drugs. that's a fact. in Toronto this year, there have been 81 murders, all of the gun related murders have to do with guns, drugs, gangs or all. Canada rarely has random shootings, of course, Canada isn't immune to it, but it's a lot less than America's. The gun ban is working in Canada, the mentality there isn't, "I need to have a gun for safety", for the most part, people do feel safe without guns. Putting guns in the hands of more people can prove to more to do more harm than good, when you have crazy people using the guns for the wrong reasons. Like I already said, and NBV said, in America, a country-wide ban would need to take place before any effects are seen. Banning guns in a couple states and not in others has not effect whatsoever, and that's the biggest problem.

finally, someone who understands the point i'm trying to make. the mentality in US is "i have a right to bear arms to protect myself." this wouldn't happen if other people didn't have guns, and it is a cycle that needs to be broken. obviously, it's not working.

i got you all beat lol. i'm getting soooo many presents. i'll list em after christmas

media does play a role in shootings. for example, the Omaha Mall shooting. Robert Hawkings, i think is his name. he said he wanted to go out "famous". Where else did he get that idea? He wanted to commit suicide, but instead, looked at past events where criminals had the spotlight, and decided to go shoot up a mall, then turn the gun on himself. this is what i mean, though the 2nd amendment says that people have the right to bear arms, you guys are pretty much puttings guns into the hands of the wrong people. i forgot the number, but i think it was 2/3 of adults suffer from psychological problems at least once in their lifetime. anybody can go crazy and take the gun out on others. you have no way if knowing of somebody is gonna go psycho. it's pretty much saying, "it's okay, you haven't gone crazy yet, since it doesn't say on your record, and you haven't been involved in criminal activity - so here, you can have the gun, i believe you're responsible." i have friends who buy guns illegally, and ALL these guns are from America.

i likeeee italian food. lasagna <3 and i eat a lot of junk food. i rarely cook home meals.

Guns are not banned in Canada. You simply have to have a license and register for your gun. i'm using banned to define the laws in Canada and the states. you rarely see people in Canada desperately seeking licenses for guns. for the main part, guns are kept out of Canadians' hands due to the strict gun laws. and it has helped. Canada is a pretty safe place to live.

actually... Canadian murders haven't really "increased", not that i've seen. they're always comparing the numbers on the news, and they're still approximately the same, with some cities' murders increasing and some decreasing. what they're saying is that the murders in Canada relative to the murders in America have increased, making the gap smaller. but we're not talking about overall murders. we're talking about gun crimes. and gun crimes have steadily decreased in the past decade. this was the information i got from recently watching a news research piece, kinda like a do!@#$%^&*entary. and are you serious? you honestly think that you have more chances of getting mugged in Canada? lmao. that's a joke. it's common sense. take 360+ murders in Philadelphia and the murders in Toronto. the murders in Toronto have been steady over the last couple years, in the range of 70-. last year it was , this year it's gonna be a bit more. and property crimes doesn't count, seeing as how we're talking about murders and specifically gun murders.
-
ThunderJam, that's what i mean. no one's standing up to fight against it, because everyone has the mentality that "it will never happen". Canada should demand more strict policies on guns because most of the gun crimes happening there directly involve guns from America. and Americans should demand it too.
