honestly, just from reading some of these comments, it's clear many americans are ignorant about the canadian health care system. it's not socialized medicine. canada has a publicly-funded, privately delivered health care system. socialized medicine would entail that health care providers are employed by the government, which is not true, the majority of providers charge fee-for-service and deliver health care privately. there is a public sector, as well as a private sector, but the private sector is comprised of dental care, eye care, prescription drugs, etc. realistically speaking, most canadians have some sort of private insurance, also known as the benefits they receive from employers. canada uses a triage system when assessing individuals in terms of the ER and surgeries. if someone is in more urgent need of a MRI or CT than you, then they will get it first. i don't think there's anything unfair about that. regardless, americans over-exaggerate the wait times because they're so naive and listen to what american media tells them without ever looking at the facts. i'm a dual-citizen and i would take care in canada over america any day. people in canada don't die from waiting for care lol that's the most absurd thing i've ever read/heard. if you have cancer, you receive treatment right away. the only long waits canadians experience is for elective surgeries, and sometimes, in the doctor's office but even then, you don't wait a whole day to see a doctor. it's an hour or so at the most. people who complain about having to buy health insurance in america are only complaining until they, or their family, get really sick and need countless scans, tests, doctor visits, surgeries, etc. in canada, we don't go bankrupt because of unforeseen medical conditions/illnesses/accidents, and i think i speak for all canadians when i say that we have that sense of security.

NBVegita, this girl is young but being pregnant matures you quicker than anything and i know this from experience. it can be looked at in two ways... people might call her irresponsible for bringing a child into the world at such a young age. and then others will say that she's responsible for owning up to the consequences of her actions and not aborting the baby. but there are many people in their 20s and 30s who have a stable job, but aren't financially stable because they don't have their priorities straight. at least these kids seem to have their sense of priority straightened out. i can admit that before i got pregnant, i wasn't financially stable. even though i had a nice paying job, i wasn't ready to support a child financially. i thought i was but i was so wrong lol. on top of bills, food, diapers, toys, clothes for the baby, it'll easily clean out your bank account even if you made 200k a year. reality is, everyone will struggle with the costs of raising a child regardless of how much money you make. but i'm sure in the UK there's a welfare system that will help them out financially.

if you think about it, you'll never be financially ready to support a child, no matter what age you are. so you can't say that people who aren't ready to support a child are irresponsible for bringing one into the world. some of our parents probably weren't financially stable when they had us, and this applies to many adults, but it doesn't mean they shouldn't have kids. i don't think people who don't have any kids should be saying that these teens aren't capable of raising a child. until you do it and until you become a parent, you aren't in any place to judge. and all this talk of abstinence is bullshit lol. you can't tell teens, at the most rebellious stages of their life, to stay away from sex altogether. that's only gonna make them want to have sex even more. btw, America obviously has higher teen pregnancies... have you seen how American high school girls are? lol. they're complete hoes, having sex in schools and doing nasty shit. they need to teach some morals and values in that country. thank god i moved to Canada.

to be honest, taking care of a baby isn't as hard as everybody makes it seem and i'm doing it without help from my parents/family.

Dav, not many young teens know what the morning after pill is, nor do they know where to get it. the mother is 15, she's past her childhood. a 15 year old giving birth isn't anything new these days. i was 19 when i gave birth, 3 months before my 20th, but i was still young. did i lose my young adult life? no, and neither will she.

how exactly did they fuck up their life? they may have to work even harder and it may take longer to finish school or do what they originally wanted to do, but they can do it. if YOU had a kid, you would fuck up your life because it's obvious you're immature with nothing going for you. yea but people all are angry for no reason. i saw on the news the other day that there was "outrage" because of this. it's nobody's business. as long as these kids + their families are gonna take care of the child, just leave them alone.

i don't get why everybody is making such a big deal out of it in UK. these kids already established that they're gonna take care of their child, and they have full support from their families. it's not like they had sex, had a baby and abandoned it.

i'm glad they decided against abortion. they might not realize how big the situation is but this will make them grow up quicker and it sounds like they're gonna be responsible parents. they may need a lot more help from their families but they'll do fine. and if he was 12 at the time of sex, then she was 14. you can't charge her with statutory rape... they're a 2 year difference and it was consensual.

one of the reasons i laughed is because this shit only happens in America. hence, why this muslim family should have put more thought into what they were going to talk about out loud. people in Canada are less stereotypical and racist because we're more multicultural.
