  1. for some reason the makefile's in those modules will not be recognized by a simple "make" command. I'll do some learning later.
  2. I was hoping for a makefile :/ (i'm on linux)
  3. I have the latests svn downloaded on linux but can't seem to find the right folder to compile from. Maybe a little clarification? Thank you!
  4. Yes... the game often dies off at Q until 10's of miles down the road haha.
  5. The way I play, that sign solves no problems. It has to be a WORD that starts with the right letter.
  6. That is sweet.
  7. I think the best option would be to make the script. If you go with the modified distro option, it won't be very effective, because most people would rather go with the default version. Making an installer/script however would be simple and effective because it would be easy to run and isn't "taking" over an OS essentially. Just my 2 cents.
  8. Are you trying to make a custom OS with continuum preinstalled or a package isntaller for linux?
  9. Would you add your signature to an email if you didn't want the recipient to know you sent it?
  10. Thanks for the opinion. I like option 2 myself. I think it would be nice to even have a mix of options 2 and 3.. weapons system are core based and energy and movement are "part" based (option 3). I tried that zone but didn't have that much time to green; the ships start very basic and limited.
  11. Thanks! http://prodegebanners.sitegrip.com/images/swagbucks-173x63.jpg
  12. So basically I'm looking for some player opinions on the ship settings for The CompleX. I've been working on this project pretty much alone lately, and since I'm sure that my opinions are much different than others, I'm trying to get some other opinions. Part of me wants to use hscore (hyperspace), and part of me says not too. Here are some options: Option 1: Just like hyperspace (individual items) Option 2: A little different than hyperspace. Each ship is unique (warbird is gunner, javelin is bomber) But to spice things up, each ship has something called a "core" that adds even more uniqueness to each ship. For example, let's take the Leviathan, the heavy bomber. Core 1: Rapid level 1 Bomber Core 2: High delay, high energy, L3 Prox with shrapnel Core 3: L2 Bombs, A few thors. Each core supports the fact that it is a heavy bomber, but does so in a different way. There could of course be other features in each core, but those are just examples. Alongside cores, you would be able to purchase items not covered by cores. Option 3:This allows for a LOT of customization, but maybe too much, and may be a little bit confusing to new players. You are allowed to buy 5 items from each category (guns, bombs, energy, movement) Items are singular properties that contribute to the whole category's build as a whole Example: Items to purchase for Guns Category Gun Level + 1 Gun Delay - 4 Gun Energy - 3 Multi Bounce Shrapnel + 5 For example, you could buy 2 gun levels, 2 gun delay subtracters, and multi to have a relatively rapid fire L2 gun with multi. Option 4: No hscore. Use classic continuum settings. Option 5: No hscore. Ships have no recharge and require ammo to fire. Ammo refills and health refills are in select areas around the map. What do you guys think? If you have other ideas, please post them! Thank you.
  13. Anyone willing to help me with the settings and the buy system (similiar to hyperspace)?
  14. I have the same problem as BD. From http://wiki.winehq.org/DirectDraw I found this (just thought i'd post it): I get Yes and 1404 frames in 5.0 seconds
  15. Using Doc's fix for this (5 steps) works for me, but it is a little bit choppy. Are there any tricks for configuring WINE to help make the graphics smoother?
  16. Add a section for ASSS modules and Subgame plugins.
  17. Well you my as well just write one program that covers all that you've covered. No point in going back to write one program for each chapter. What LYNX said would be a good idea.
  18. I learned to code by indulging myself into something over my head and looking up how to do everything until I had a finished product. Although I may have made mistakes, the advantage is that I got experience applying concepts to a real project. Besides, the debugger tells me if I do something wrong . You said that you weren't going to code anything until you finish chapter 19... I would advise that you at least do something with your new knowledge. It will help reinforce what you've learned, and will give you motivation to learn new and more advanced concepts.

  20. At the very least, just a chat client. With spec.

  22. I read on a little bit to here: Xog> ?listmissions This command can do two things, and is decided upon by whoever wants to implement it. 1) Pop up a LVZ image of available missions (they could alternate for a wider variety of missions). 2) Give a list of missions in the chat field Having a dynamic LVZ is not possible. By that, I mean you could not color in finished missions green and unfinished missions as red. ... Unless you had a LVZ image for each possible combination of finished/unfinished missions... which would be ridIculOUsly huge.
