  1. Glad you edited your post, removing "Don't post in my thread anymore" Look closer. No, it just so happens that the person he asked only host ASSS zones. Beggars can't be choicer's. Again, I don't see what the issue is here, open DS on ASSS, run its bots and there you go. DS will be up and running, and it will have its bots. And I have to say, I have had zones hosted in the past by others, ALTEC ., Macuub, Death+, Freakmonger, and Snrrrub, but L Y N X has by far been the best host I have had and its a great server.

  3. If you're not going to develop DS further than it was prior to its death, there is not reason to reopen it at all. As you said you are "doing both" then I was still suggest starting with ASSS, as you can get the zone running as it was with no real issues, and save the hassle of any players that do play from having to download the zone again when you make the switch. If your end result is going to be an ASSS server, I don't see the point to start on subgame once again. You say you will gain nothing, I disagree completely. You will gain the ability to make DS a better and more enjoyable game, and give its former players something better to look forward to. The Pros of switched to ASSS far out weigh the cons. Either way, its your zone, and your choice, but like I said, if you don't plan to develop the zone any further, then reopening it is pointless, and what you really should do is open it as a sub-arena in an already existing zone. And one other thing, you said the conversion takes time...   4. If you are serious about getting DS online, you'll want to run an asss server. Most of the bot functions should work if you run a module with it, although a lot of the plugins I ran with a mervbot did not, but coding bot plugins in python is very simple. If I can do it, you can do it.

And its clearly obvious this child has nothing better to do than do every thing is his power to try and get under the skin and any person willing to read his nonsense. Put yourself in the eyes of a new player. Do you want to play a game with a guy like him?

  16. I have a php nuke site that has a build in feature that tracks where all the traffic comes from, and what site they were linked from. Its called HTTP Referers. I'm sure you could modify it for any website, or run the same type of script. Now you're problem is getting freakmonger to run it. I'm guessing he probably has something similar running already. So now your other problem would be getting access to infomation you need. Solution: Run you're own script on your own website and track the information yourself.
  17. It appears to me, that when a player with the ball gets killed, it triggers a "ballfire" from the player killed, and a "ballpickup" from the killer. Both call backs happen, even when the ball is not picked up, and even though the ball is fired when lost, shouldn't there be a balllost callback rather then triggering ballfire? Well it seems that this error only occurs in version 1.4.4, and seems fine on 1.5.0 I am now wondering if I can try to update just that portion of asss? The reasoning for not updating altogether is because everything is coded for 1.4.4 and I don't have enough server access to assure it would work. Its kind of half-assed put together from what I understand.

    So a little update: First I added a win condition. Which is now first to 7, win by 2. But the Ref still has the option to stop the game at any point, say first to 5. Or whenever they want. Added a Hat Trick checker which is 3 goals in a game, not 3 in a row. (but I made add a "special" hat trick for that) I also started tracking players, things they did, and creating stored statistics for them. It took me a bit of reading and a few questions to figure out how to display them properly, but it all is looking good now. So far the only stats are, Goals, Saves, Hat Tricks, and Assists. I attempted to add "icing" but it wasn't really true, after looking at what "icing" was, I realized it was too hard for me to make it work under the real conditions. So I was thinking of just making a penalty for "delay of game" when a player shoots the puck it will start a timer and if no one gets to it in time, the ref will need to restart the face off. And finally, I am going to create some sort of penalty system, where the penalties are tracked and displayed in the stats, but it will ultimately be up to the Ref to put players in "time out" as I would like to call the penalty box. Please give any suggestions or comments.

  20. Right on man! I really want to see the video where there are other people flying around and blowing up! Also, as I said before, I really disliked the screen rotation after thinking I would like it. It this video the rotation seems slower, and makes it seem a lot better than when I played in your demo client. Keep up the good work! Really looking good, and the new static background is really cool. Also something I would like to see: Auto camera zoom options... Meaning, auto zoom out when speeding up, and auto zoom in when slowing down. This should be another feature you can enable / disable.

    The way I did if before was creating regions on the map and checking if certain ships enter them. This is how I plan to add the check before face off to make sure all the players are on the proper side.

    The only rule against the goalies moving about is for them not to go past the blue line. I can make it tell them they can't do it, and either penalize them for it, and / or warp them back. I was thinking of warping them behind the goal, so its not "convenient" to them.

    I'm glad to see my module is getting used in deva. I plan on adding a few more features to the module later this fall. If you would like to see something adding please post it here. I was going to add a Hat Trick tracker, but then looking into the definitions of what constitutes a hat trick, I was a bit confused on the best way to handle it. There is a few various of it, and I would like to add just one. The normal hat trick is just 3 goals in a game by a single player. Another method is 3 goals that are scored in a row by a single player. So I would like to know how the players would like it to be handled, as with everything thus far with this module. Also, I know a big factor people would like to see, is a random puck drop timer which is now automatically 15 seconds from the time the host enters the command. Another thing I plan to add is a proper faceoff check, which will just check player locations before the puck drops. Players found offside will be given a penalty. A player will be allowed 2 penalties, but on the 3rd, they will be sent to the penalty box for a short period of time. On the 4th they will be sent for a longer period of time, and on the 5th they will simply be locked in spec. All of this is just an idea and once tested can and most likely will change. There may also be a few other things players do that will cause them to get a penalty. One other thing I was thinking of adding is an Icing checker, where if someone just hits the puck down the rink, if no one gets to the puck quick enough, then a faceoff on the side the puck was iced will take place and the player may or may not be penalized. All just ideas as of now, and any improvements to the current features are more the welcome. Thanks guys!
