  1. My thoughts on this: If I were to develop subspace as a facebook application, I would like to see the SSC Billing Server directly or if possible indirectly tied into the application. Containing all the players, and when a player chooses, they can link there in game stats and squad information to their facebook account. I think that there should be a command to do this in game, the SSFB app would then send the request to the player profile chosen to confirm the link. I saw an idea posted by LtNirvana saying how it would be nice to have a friends list feature in-game which I think would also be nice to have in the SSFB app showing which of their friends are online and what zone they are currently playing, the arena they are in and how long they have been there. Perhaps even a Zone / Arena history information block. Each zone should have an SSFB network administrator that would allow each zone to post Event information to users. Users would be able to toggle notifications from each zone. Could even set up population notifications, which users could toggle for zone / arenas. I could probably come up with a lot more ideas, but that's where I would start.
  2. So i've started working on the deathball arena which should be completed in a couple days. On Sunday, January 22nd Metal Gear will be holding the first DB event since the reopening. We will need 12 players to start this event, but may play games with 10. I have choosen sunday in hopes that everyone will be able to make it. There isn't a specific time or anything like that, we will start when a ref is available and there are enough players. Please get your fiends and join us.
  3. You say we need to start at the mobile device, then "perhaps" spread t pc clients? This already has fail written all over it. You got one thing right, you need to think about this for a while before you do anything. Develop a facebook app that interacts with a database of players, you can incorporate many new ideas into that as well as be a very positive influence to the game. You could be toggle being notified of games, share when you win an event, this that and the other thing. If you think for one second you're going to move this community to mobile gaming, you're wrong. How many people to do see on the move playing online games on their phone? How many people do you really think are going to want to play this game on their phone? Honestly, this is just such a bad idea. I think using mobile devices to better interact with the community is a great idea, but no one is going to play. The only reason this game is here today, and the reason it has been around so long, is because anyone is able to join us and if they want, they can make their own zone. Making their own maps, their own graphics and sounds. A ton of people have tried doing things on their own. Look at all the bots and everything else a normal everyday player can be apart of. Creating a new subspace needs to carry this if it's expected to be taken on by the current players, and in my opinion in order to attract anyone new.
  4. I love windows xp
  5. I'd like to vote, but I can't. I don't agree with either statement. I don't think you have to take Subspace to Facebook to make it a success, and I also don't see a game like subspace working on facebook. And I hate to break it to you, whereas putting the name on facebook is a perfectly good idea in order to draw attention in attempts to make it popular once again, 90% of the people on facebook don't even use their computers to interact with it, they use their mobile device. A android / smartphone app wont matter much, I can honestly say I wouldn't be playing on my phone. And I would probably go as far to say that 50% of facebook users don't even own / have a computer with access to the internet. If you were interested in investing into the game, I would start with simple advertising on facebook. Another idea would be to link just the chat to facebook, where you can select a zone to chat in. I'm fairly confident we have more spectators then players anyway. Then you could turn facebook into a central news and information app for subspace, announce when games are starting ect.. Who knows, I'm probably wrong and, "Yes, it has the best chance of viral success if we update the game and put it on FB"
  6. 400 Post and not one valid statement yet! Jab, I have to agree with the others. It was my very first thought, "Oh neat menu, I wonder if you have to wait for that every time..."
  7. Difference is, you're just an idiot. (feeding troll kid)
  8. I think Avast did this review, and now you know why he's mad a priit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=925Wk85i-Yw
  9. Isn't that stuff for the biller..?
  10. The more you keep changing, the more problems you are going to run into.
  11. I've had a terrible time getting names I used to have back. No matter what information I provide, "Sorry there is nothing linking your current name with the name you are trying to obtain." Its a joke of a system. In all honesty, your better off just creating a new name if you for some reason forget and lose the password of a name you were using.

Cheese, as you know I am not much of a programmer, but I was just thinking... Is there a way you could use regions? What I mean is, around a section of tiles, create regions.. For example, create a horizontal wall region, a vertical wall region, and a corner wall region. And perhaps get more involved with stating the shortest path around object or wall, depending on what region they were in compared to where the target player is.
  13. I agree to the point that there have been more then 5 attempts to make clients from different people, and the fact that none of the want to go open source, and rather fail trying bothers me. Its a sad state of affairs, it really is. What Priitk did was hack the subspace source, he wont release it in fear of exposing security. He would rather see this game rot than give up his name in being the al mighty great douche that did something for a large community that still to this day wishes they could have been the one. I know for a fact that Priitk rather watch his client rot than give up any source or help, just look at what he did to catid for exposing issue in the biller. EDIT: Oh, and as far as saving this game, there is no saving it. Bottom line. There is absolutely nothing, you, I, or anyone else in the entire world that can "save this game". Its nearly.. what 15 years old. The fact that this game and is players are still around at all is a fluke, honestly. The only reason it's still here today is because it was one of the first online games, and the players refuse to let it go. As long as people are willing to host servers and events, this game will never die.You can't compare subspace to any of the games that are coming out now, or even games that have come out in the past 10 years. Its old, its beat, and there is nothing you can do about it. A new client is going to be like "Polishing a Turd". What's underneath is what matters.. You may not like it, but it is what is.
  14. Thats cool, but I was talking about the pastebin polix is talking about.
  15. Anyway to put in some syntax highlighting?
  16. 10 vs 10 on the first day! Not too bad!! http://mgctf.subspace.net/images/mg01.png http://mgctf.subspace.net/images/mg02.png

  18. The record broke in this arena were not "abused" by staff, but because the who ever did the setting gave the ships portals. I really thought your module shipreset every one, but it doesn't, it just prizes a rocket. I think it should ship reset.
  19. lol @ the ICP shirt
  20. Whatever.
  21. resoL reached the finish line 1st with a time of 194.671 seconds! resoL broke the track record by 1.948 seconds! Previous record was 196.619 seconds (ship 6).
  22. There is a damage module, I think Smong wrote, and JoWie had done some work to it, it tracks damage and you can make it track damage on tiles, and destroy them.. never figured out how though.
  23. Wrong. Video: noun 1. Television . a. the elements of television, as in a program or script, pertaining to the transmission or reception of theimage ( distinguished from audio). b. the video part of a television broadcast.
  24. Well, I guess I just feel like arguing!! Technically, no it doesn't. The video does not have anything to do with Zelda, the Audio however does. <3
  25. The video is a still image that has nothing to do with Zelda. Did you listen to Song of Storms? I like that one a lot better.
