  1. QUOTE(SD>Big @ Jan 29 2007, 07:34 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>i do like my rpg's.... especialy snes ones! great ones on that system. SNES games were very good, I still play Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy, Etc. I know you pointed out he should read the reviews sil. My problem was that your post made it seem like the conclusion from the reviews was that Oblivion was boring. Considering I listed 72 different reviews and all of them excluding maybe 4 or 5 have the game rated at least a 9 out of 10 I wanted to correct the perception that you had made of the game.
  2. Fortunitely it is true. People who abuse their level 1 BanG end up losing it.
  3. QUOTE(SD>Big @ Jan 29 2007, 03:41 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>uh well... maybe i wont exactly be buying oblivion... i know i'm a bad person. but i do wnat to see how pretty it will look on my monster ati x1950xt gfx card. it takes up 2 slots! too bad its fan is so loud :S Before you just buy into this guys opinion you should read the reviews of Oblivion online. None of them agree with the poster here, boring? You must hate all things RPG to think Oblivion is boring. I will even link you a review from Gamespot. If you like RPGs you cannot miss this one. Gamespot Review of Oblivion I will even throw in a quick scan of 72 different reviews of Oblivion, all of them rating the game as being very good. List of 72 Reviews
  4. If you like space based turn based strategy games buy Galactic Civilizations 2 but wait until the expansion is released, I believe they are packaging the expansion and original game for like 50 bucks after it comes out. Other then that, Oblivion of course, Company of Heroes is a must buy and Medieval War 2 is really good.
  5. Unless they're sticking a 6800 GS (keep in mind, this has 256mb) into a system with the cheapest parts possible, and unless you don't consider 1600x1200 as a high resolution, then of course you won't be able to play the latest games with a 6800 GS card. Same can be said for the newer cards. Otherwise: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/dis...-6800gs_10.html http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/dis...e-6800gs_6.html http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/dis...e-6800gs_8.html http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/dis...-6800gs_11.html http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/dis...-6800gs_13.html You might have an argument with the first link (F.E.A.R), but that's b/c the visual quality settings are maxxed out. Otherwise, seeing that games such as the Source-based games (HL2 EP1, that game SIN Episodes, etc.) those performance numbers are relevant. Some of the latest games now use a system that specializes in the physics of the game, hence those PhysX cards. Doesn't mean that you can't use a 6800 GS card to play them along with the PhysX card. A dual-core system can also help too to a certain extent. Edit: Anything with around 30fps or better would not produce any noticeable framelag. So you reply to my post with links to a site showing performance results for a 6800 GS playing older games and comparing it against old cards. That link is from 2 years ago, 2 years ago that WOULD of been a good card to buy. But this isn't 2005, it is 2007 and there are much better cards out for around his price range. Don't try to convince someone to buy a POS just to try to dig yourself out of the massive hole of stupidity you placed yourself into. And no, you are wrong. An average FPS of 30 is horrible for gaming. Do you know why? Because framerates fluctulate. They go up and down and if it goes anywhere below 30 you will notice the change. An average FPS of 60 has always been recommended for gaming. Well it's no suprise that any argument with you turns into you throwing insults, and no actual arguments. I've learned to translate this: It means that you now look like a jack!@#$%^&*. In case you missed what I said, most of these games depicted are the foundation for the newer games. I.E. Battlefield 2142 being built on Battlefield 2, Half-Life 2 EP1, and look-a-like games being built on the source engine, and yes these are some of the "latest games" you have been talking about. So yes, they are relevant. Fact is, you are WRONG to say that you can't use a Geforce 6800 GS to play the latest games, at high res, when in fact you can. And unless you are 1) just dense or 2) a jack!@#$%^&* who's pride is on the line, you'd realize that the benchmarks posted are AVERAGE framerates. The GeForce 6800 series is still a formidable card, and can do wonders when on SLi, despite what you think. To you (at this point, who cares what YOU think) 60 fps might be good gaming, that's fine. But do you think the people who made the game, F.E.A.R were stupid enough to release a game that was "unplayable" on high-end PCs at high res unless you had two 7800s on SLi? A single 7800 card gets around 40 or so. I guess that must be a horrible card. Sorry, but your standards =/= everyone elses. The very fact that you are still trying to pose a 6800 GS as a decent card when there are a hundred different performance reviews of CURRENT games and NEWER cards that SHOW the 6800 GS is a POS is the reason why I think you are 1) dense and 2) a jack!@#$%^&*. You picked a performance review from over 2 years ago when that card was brand new to prove your point, unfortunitely you are posting this in 2007 and that particular performance review means nothing. There are new games and new technology out now and for barely any more money people can pick up a card that is much better then a 6800 GS. Not just a little bit better, MUCH better. And no !@#$%^&* the posted performance charts are averages, that is exactly what I was speaking of in my last post. That a 30 FPS average is HORRIBLE for gaming. Good job.

  7. I don't know what kind of games you are playing but I can tell you that no, you cannot play even recent games with decent settings at a high resolution with a 6800 GS. There are about 100 different websites that publish performance statistics and all of them will agree with me.
  8. 1) It is several generations old 2) It isn't even the best card of that generation only a decent one. 3) You are basicly wasting money on buying that if you plan on playing games. You might as well spend a little bit more right now and buy a decent card from a more recent generation.
  9. If you plan on playing any games Syrus I would get a better graphics card. Other then that the rest of the stuff you picked is passable.
  10. The KGB was disbanded and replaced by the way.
  11. Tailchaser ban, no doubt. I remember that s!@#$%^&*bag banned me for 5000 days for profanity, however, I thought all the names and bans got reset some time around 2002? Otherwise I'd probably still be banned as well. I just wanted to add that if you have a ban with a duration greater then 365 days you need to visit bang.sscbilling.net and submit a ticket. Most likely that ban needs to be adjusted which will essentially lift it.
  12. No offense but the moderators here need to let up and stop being so prone to editing. You shouldn't annoy what users you still have left by editing things that really don't need to be edited just because you are slightly annoyed by the posts contents.

  14. [Please stop quoting the entire previous post -Maverick] Just because it has worked for the handful of people who have been using a beta version of Vista doesn't mean that it won't cause an increase of problems when a large portion of the playerbase switches over to Vista. It doesn't take a brainic to figure out that just because it works on 5 peoples computers means that it is going to work fine on everyone elses computer.
  15. the problem is the client seems to be having trouble on a number of new machines. Alot of people cant get it to run at all, or they may not work out how to play it. Just wait until Vista becomes widespread!
  16. You can find better deals.
  17. The KGB has nothing on me. http://quotes.sscentral.com/index.php?1526
  18. He probably didn't move it due to how re!@#$%^&*ed it made D+ look.
  19. The ban for that offense used to be 5000 days. 365 days is a bargin in comparison.
  20. Good critique of my point. Oh wait; you were SUPPORTING my point not critiquing it. Thanks. Oh, I never realized calling a zone out for having zero gameplay was destructive. I thought it was just offering an opinion, an opinion that was shared by anyone who had played the zone and had experienced how poor the gameplay was. If you want to feel bad for someone, feel bad for the poor saps who were tricked into playing that zone because D+ shutdown Hyperspace, a zone with GOOD gameplay and put that zone up on the same port.
  21. In some cir!@#$%^&*stances it would be ideal to have one website for news, one site for all of our needs. However this is not true in all cases and it is definitely not true in a community run game. There is no organizational structure in place to ensure a proper hand off of community oriented resources such as websites and no one person... NO ONE, is individually responsible enough to be worthy of our trust in such matters. Especially the folks currently running SSCentral.com and even more so with some of the people they are currently !@#$%^&*ociating with in the course of attempting to further development of their site. Swift has absolutely no interest in this game. Polix has a known history of getting pissy, quitting Subspace and !@#$%^&*ing everyone he can with any access he has been given (I still love you Polix, no matter what you do!). On a side note, if anyone else got the inside joke regarding what I put in parenthesis there you get an extra cookie for today. Death+ has shown in several cases I propensity to harm other elements of the community in his attempt to further his own gains. Such as kicking zones off of his server (or threatening to do so) if they refuse to leave an existing forum system and join his. Or plotting to get existing zones removed from hosts despite the fact that they still have an active player base. Boy D+, what a boy scout you are! So even if we were to have someone, who, unlike those currently involved with SSCentral.com... were able to apply their work in an effort to improve the community as a whole we could still not trust them to ensure that the resources they built are passed on when they lose interest (who wants to list every major SS website resource we have had that no longer exists?). There is no organizational structure ensuring this and as such it would be improper, nay asinine, to place all of our eggs in one basket with it under the control of a single individual or a small group of individuals. PS - Stop giving Ahmed a hard time
  22. I am currently running duel 8800 GTXs in SLI. No need to worry about any graphical settings playing at 1920 resolution.

  25. You need to move somewhere warmer, say, antarctica?
