  1. Thats because it IS the one from Thirdspace. I used it in the demo though the lack of anything else that was texture modeled being available to test with. The game will eventually (once more work is done) download all graphics from the zones it connects to, no artwork will be distributed with it. I'm happy to remove the javelin and use different models in future demos if you wish.
  2. Basically when you connect to an arena in SS, the server sends you some settings, in a binary form. I want to change this so it sends you ALL the settings (the total of all the .conf files) in a human readable form (text ini or xml file). Basically that way any type of settings will be able to transfered to the client.
  3. Yes, I've already begun the process, I'm creating a "subspace2" module (but the entire server will have to be modded). Its in my folder in "server". http://subspace2.svn.sourceforge.net/viewv...;%^&*s-ss2/ I've written my own encryption module, (still needs some work, it doesn't check the checksum in the packets). and am modifying the core of ASSS to use 3 dimensions. Its going to be ASSS unless someone shows me good alternative
  4. I'm looking to create a module that create a text do!@#$%^&*ent of all the resultant settings for an arena (ie whats acctually effecting the clinet, so it includs all inherited settings), and then sends it to the client. Anyone interested in taking up this task, or if they know of a module that does it already!
  5. I'm good, but lets keep this conv for in game, this forum is for ss2

    20v20

Prehaps the answer is to have a secound pub.
  8. I think its dead. http://www.rakkar.org/blog/
  9. Hmm. I'm not too concerned, the games are totally different. I doubt many people will get confused. The only thing that does concern me is "The Continuum" has been trademarked by this company. I see it as a marketing oppotunity, contact the owners of the site. Point out this game has been around longer and come to an arrangement. (link exchange?) Both games are different enough to coexist,
  10. Vista is the new ME. I'd recommend waiting for Windows 7 or whatever. Windows Server 2008 performace is meant to be greater than VISTA's by come degree. Worth a read http://blog.seattlepi.nwsource.com/microso...ives/132891.asp http://blog.seattlepi.nwsource.com/microso...istaone3046.pdf
  11. So basically you change the settings in Vista to make it as much like XP as possible Free Ram is misleading in VISTA as it uses it more efficiently. Having ram free is essentially ram being wasted. In vista alot of it for disk caching (similar to linux, in linux is rare to have any free ram)
  12. Is this comparing a new install of vista vs old install of XP? If so, that's quite an unfair comparison I've got a 1.7Ghz centrino laptop with 512MB of ram. Original XP install from 3 years ago. However I run with no visual enhancements and have edited start up services to remove ones you don't need. My Xp boots to login screen in about 10-20 secounds. However logging takes around 10 secounds. Once its logged in disk grinds for about a minute, then its done. My windows 98 box boots up faster than my XP laptop, but its a new installation, my xp laptop has 3 years worth of crap on it. (my start menu on XP has 3 columns Ive got room for 1 more before i run out of screen space!) http://tweakhound.com/xp/bootvis/index.htm There is a program called bootvis that will measure you boot time, an allow you to tune.
  13. You need to enable the directory module in modules.conf. The ASSS default is to not have it not loaded
  14. possibly caused by gas bubbling though the rock when it was created
  15. i didnt want to split i into two threads
  16. Hey thanks TT for the offer, unfortunatly i signed up with a new provider yesterday and moved everything over already.
  17. I think if you include the the file in "levelfiles" list it will be used. I may be tottal wrong however.
  18. Thank you for the useful information, I have explored the Continuum for sometime, but have never managed to get it into a form to do static analysius on. Also thank you for being resposible and not to putting up anything thats work with the latest continuum (which of course you could have done, with the knowledge you have)
  19. I think when I put up the demo, i explained it was windows only. You will need to build from source to use anything other than windows, as the code uses native libaries and I only included windows binaries (the native dlls) files. I do hope to get a linux box running at some point so I do linux binaries releases too.
  20. As you may or may not know I run a small webhosting business (essentially to help offset some of the costs of the ss stuff i host ) To do this I use a reseller account (i have to have it uk based, which rules out some obvious choices) with the provider talked about in the thread and this weekend its been offline, or not working properly i think in total for around 24hours. It was serving php source code for ages.... http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=673899 I'm obviously going to switch providers, but do you think there is a case for asking for a refund?
  21. No this is the link http://www. g o o l a g .org/download.html I advise not using this unless you understand what it does Its use could be illegal in your country, or depending how you use it. The installer is quite amusing

    Aims

A Copy of the sf.net application. This might be helpful for people trying to understand what the aim of this project is. Please note this document is historic, I have since changed the design, or rethought of some aspects of STF.
  23. The ISPs are just delaying the problem. Legal content will eventially outstripe pirated content, once media distributors get some sence. ISPs going to have a problem when everyone downloads movies legally from the net. The bbc iplayer (legal free tv) downloads is causing problems for isps in the uk who have oversold bandwidth. Each 45 minute program is a 500mb download. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/02/20/iplayer_isps_broke/ Its the ISP's own fault for taking a very short term view, by not charging sensible prices that reflected the true cost of connections and by not investing in the infrastructure...
