Don't hate me. You would have done the same. Granted I got really lucky...really lucky, but I don't have any regrets in regards to my attack of opportunity. I don't get these turn by turn attackers either veg...500k points is hardly worth someone's time. I know I said I won't assign a moralistic justification to my massing/sabbing, but those of you who attack every turn on the turn are going to get massed and sabbed if you keep it up. You know who you are and so do I.
-
I lost weaps too, but I'm not crying. Infact, this !@#$%^&* who posted right before me shouldn't be crying either because he hit me after I lost all my defensive weapons.
-
Yeah, but if the CTM community followed the law they wouldn't have freeloaded bandwidth off of a company that did not give permission to set up the SSCX server. Seems to me that they broke the wrong law.

If you can find another way to get the points, then UP isn't that important as far as growth is concerned. For instance, one time I built an economy based upon stealing points from others using all of my turns and using the trading system that was there to trade for more turns. That worked...until the war. When the war broke out, activity rose and the need for points increased. I needed points not only to grow but to support non-profitable offensive operations. The entire environment changed and there weren't many points around to steal. I did make enough scrounging around to support my offense, but having a steady income and plenty of soldiers for reinforcements is the best way to go. The thing that makes UP special is that it is untouchable. Defenses can be massed, weapons can be sabbed, and offenses require a lot of points to function. Because UP is invincible, when the defacation hits the rotary oscillator, you know your UP won't have a brown sticky substance all over it when you need it the most.

I pretty much went down from boredom as well.
-
No, it doesn't. Its a rule of English. Look it up. Scratch that, its beyond a rule of English. Its true for all languages that use Roman letters.

Oh, btw, I beat Samapico's Asteroids record. Infact, I doubled it. Blasted game took me 40 minutes before I had a string of deaths resulting from my hands cramping up. Seems like Chambahs isn't the only one and I may be hypocritical here. Please choose a well built mail order bride from Russia for me. I don't want one of those anorexic chicks from Taiwan.
-
Yeah, infact after posting that I walked off, and realised it as I was gone. Actually you got it backwards Veg...I don't want to ally myself with someone who may end up as number 1, because its my destiny to get there and stay there. If an enemy gets the slot, I can simply take him down, but if an ally gets the slot I have the more difficult task of growing faster than him. Besides, it isn't any fun when all the best players are on the same side.
-
Picking allegences now is like worring about rank now, no point just yet. How does Excel have so many troops by the way? I've already maxed out my UP.
-
pfft....it doesn't matter if I team up with Veg or not, I'll own this game by Sunday. You two can have the number 1 spot until I knock you down Saturday. Besides, I already have Samapico and freakmonger.
-
I propose everyone pools a little money together so we can buy Chambahs a mail-order bride. That way he won't have so much time on his hands and won't hold so many 1st place records.
-
That's the general concensus I think.

Hmmm...looks like UP and income has been adjusted. Turn by turn attacks are definitely not an option now. Also, it looks like UP is a regressive formula which makes building multi-million unit armies difficult and should allow weaker players to catch up easier. At this slower pace that the game might not develop within a month, and that we may want to change monthly resets into bimonthly or trimonthly resets, though its best to see what happens in three weeks.
-
I can tell you how it affects things. For the next two days, people will focus on nothing except their economy. That means everyone will stay at relatively the same strength. When the time approaches, people start building their militaries. Once attacking is re-enabled, it will be an afternoon of !@#$%^&* as people fight for the top, but afterwards it should settle down a bit as everyone will have a strong economy. Hopefully it will be impractical to attack every turn on the turn, as everyone will have a big expensive army that should require several turns worth of income to service. However, if that is still happening, then income needs to be reduced. Regardless it will be more fun this time around because it looks like we will have 7 or 8 1st place contenders instead of 2 or 3. That alone means a lot. When its one on one, every point you lose is one your enemy gains, which enables him to buy more weapons and hit you harder next turn. With a lot of contenders you don't have to worry about his gains as next turn he will have other problems than you to deal with.

Well, this is what happens when you try to host something on something that you do not own. Really, the Continuum community prides itself on being free to players, but as my last economics professor says "There's no such thing as a free lunch." Someone had to pay for the SSCX server and as it turns out that bandwidth was essentially stolen from a company, albeit from a company with bandwidth to spare. What's killing the Subspace community is a failure to generate income. Generating income doesn't necessarily involve charging a subscription fee. My suggestion: Product placement advertising. The relatively new .lvz addition can incorporate ads directly in the map. While many in this community think money is evil, money buys servers; money pays programmers; money buys advertising. This event is merely an example of the failure to understand this. The fact that the entire SS community rejects the idea of money is what is causing this game to decline.

Players shouldn't be allowed to attack for atleast the first 3 days. Its standard in this type of rpg.

Except that all varieties of Jews, Christians, and Muslims agree that the others believe in the same God, so all monotheistic religions of humanity are in agreement as far as God is concerned. This isn't optional; its a rule of English. God is capitalised.

Hmmm...come to think of it anime avatars should be regulated on these forums. I don't have to defend witch trials. I'm Catholic. Trying witches was more of a Calvanist thing. That's why we booted them from Europe. As for the Inquisition, the Renaissance followed the Inquisition. In Islam, the Golden Age of Islamic Science occured after the mihna. In Russia, a great period of cultural advancement occured with Peter the Great using Inquisition-like methods. There's a difference between religion and supersi!@#$%^&*ious tradition, between believing in God the fundimental order of the universe and believing in God your best friend and good luck charm. The Inquisition served to test people's faith so as to move people from the second catagory in to the first one. This brought the populace from a supers!@#$%^&*ious state that was only good for making small-scale but constant war to a state that believed in order that could pursue arts, science, and really big wars. For instance, in the Dark Ages the biggest fear of sailors was the Leviathon, the Krakken, or other sea monsters. Religiously, sea monsters don't exist. The Inquisition would ask questions testing someone's faith such as "Does God send seamonsters after sinful sailors?" If they answered yes it was a failure of faith. After the inquisition, sailors din't believe in seamonsters any more and ships started to sail into deeper waters. It was an effective, albeit harsh, way to get civilization rolling. Oh, and grammatically, "God" is capitalized when referring to monotheistic religions and only in lower case if referring to polytheistic gods. First off you don't have to put "civilized" in quotes. (I do because of grammer rules.) Some nations are indeed more civilized than others. If all nations were inherently equally civilized then social progress would be inherently impossible, because in order to progress one has to go from an inferior to a superier state, which is in contradiction to the statement that all cultures are equally civilized. Since, there are several movements in history in which social progress has been made, then some cultures are more civilized than others. That being said, you were correct in putting them in quotes because most of these "civilized" nations are in a state of cultural decay. (I'm using quotes again because I'm using saracasm.)

There are four mini ranks in the upper corner corresponding to attack, defense, covert, and sentry. Basically your overall rank is the average of those four ranks, though technically the formula is more complicated so as to break ties. If you want to inprove your rank, you should work on your stat that is ranked the worst. In the large RPGs, a popular tactic is to manipulate one's rank. For instance, all guilds in RPGs that do not have a covert lvl cap have atleast one uber spy. In wars, that player does recons on all enemy targets and posts them in a private forum, as well as sab the everloving snot out of the high ranked offenses. They usually do not build any offense or defense so that their uber account can hide amongst mediocre and sometimes even dead accounts, which allows them to survive the first volley untouched as they are overlooked. Another popular tactic is to not build spy and offense until one's UP is where you want it. Again, you will hide among the bad ranks until you are ready to make a run at the top.

They are attempting to cater to the US and Europe by attracting tourism. Ahmenijad even said so himself. On of their goals is to get tourists to go to Iran so that when the tourists go back they would put in a good word for them. Its not like its a morally wrong action; when you are in the middle of a political debate, its best to try to show your good side. I certainly like it more than the North Korean approach of "threaten when you don't have the muscle to back it up and then cry for economic aid from the people you threatened last week". Okay, I guess I must be presumptuous. I made the mistake of !@#$%^&*uming that when Ahmenijad said "We want American tourists" (not technically a quote...he said it in Persian) that the Iranians wanted to attract tourism. I guess I should be more like you, not make such "preconceptions", and when the words coming from their lips say that they want tourism, I should assume that they want to start a bobsled team. As for the "preconceptions" I made about you personally, in a topic en!@#$%^&*led "capital punishment", you brought up the Crusades. If WWI bothered you, why did you bring up the Crusades in a topic that has nothing to do with either of them? That is behavioral evidence. I formed a conclusion based upon that evidence. The conclusion may still be wrong, but it has passed the "preconception" stage and on to the "hypothesis" stage because its attempting to describe an observation. Again, you act like Iran is another Cuba, that they are a peacefull nation guilty of nothing more than disagreeing with the US politically. However, they have funded terrorist groups. There is a big difference between not liking Israeli political policy and paying somebody to blow up an elementary school that happens to be Israeli. There is a big difference between disagreeing with the US policy towards Iraq and funding local tribes so as to add fuel to the fire. As for your view on Iranian policy, I could say you are !@#$%^&*igning your political agenda on to them because you are hoping they will try to push your political view. That isn't to say their view and yours does not intersect; it does on many points. However, there is one critical one in which they don't. The Iranians do not believe in balance of power. In the history of their country, there never was a situation where it came up, and culturally and religiously they are taught then when you have power and "know" you are right, you should use your power to force your kind of righteousness in others. That is Jihad, one of the five pillars of Shi'ite Islam. Granted, US policy isn't much different. However, with the US before action there is a period of hesitation where we second guess ourselves, and after action we usually harbor lingering doubts. With Iran, given the behaviors of the various Persian empires, they will likely just impose their viewpoints on others with no hesitation or regrets whatsoever. Besides, that balance of power crap is what created both World Wars and the Cold War. Having a single cosmopolitan nation dominating the others is suprisingly more stable than it sounds. Besides, even if it is simply US vs. Iran as you described, I'm a US citizen...I am not a nuetral and should not have the opinion of a nuetral.

One thing I forgot to mention spring break is soon for me. I had three options on how to spend it: 1) Go home and see my family. 2) Go to the beach and see the girls in the bikinis. 3) Stay here and bank gold every hour. Don't get me wrong, if I didn't have to log on so !@#$%^&* often I would've stuck around Ducky, but real life is calling.

You know what, I have a talent for identifying situations. I can often times predict problems before they can occur, usually with more depth than I am able to convey in words. For example, my little contests against the Pink Fluffy Bunny clan. Out of 15 players with no stats I correctly identified Ducky and Cancer as the two most likely to be a threat within a couple days. My weakness however is that I find great difficulty in acting on those predictions. What my talent for identification is telling me right now is this: The army system is screwed. The Army Core system is designed for thousands of players when this forum couldn't hope to attract hundreds. It would take a lot of research and development to get it working, and Polix clearly doesn't have the time or inclination to spend hours upon hours fixing up a broken system that only a couple dozen users are playing anyway. The army system won't need to be reset because it'll be dead in a week. I've proven I can stay in the #1 spot as I am in right now, though I'm not so good that I don't get knocked off once in a while. Ducky and I can duel over the spot until doomsday, but it will suck. Tomorrow I have school. Wednesday I have a mid-term. I may have super-powers of staying-awakeness that I developed working night shift, but I still need to sleep once in a while. And, most of all, I don't savour the idea of being a prisoner tied to my computer for the next few weeks. Its time for me to give my "HAHA I PWNED ALL OF YOU NEWBS!!!!" and take my leave, so: HAHA I PWNED ALL OF YOU NEWBS!!!! I guess I'll give my stuff to Samapico and freakmonger. freak's eyes are gonna pop out of his head tomorrow morning if he doesn't read this message first. Finally, since I'm quitting I'll admit that this morning I figured out how to execute a proper sabatage. The sab system isn't nerfed, its just different than what I'm used to. What I am used to by the way, is www.stargatewars.com . They had something like 50,000 active players and I made it all the way to the top 500 before my alliance ended up on the wrong side of a war. Play there if you like, though I recommend sticking to Subspace, which is waaaaay more fun than this crap.

These type of games are addicting; not fun.

Actually I think he's right here. I don't know why these games have to be 24/7. If they made them 8/7, they would get a lot more subscribers.
