I did this near the end of '01.

delete the shortcut to continuum. go to the game directory. right clcik on continuum39pr1.exe and select "create shortcut." drag that shortcut to your desktop/quicklaunch/start menu, whatever. use the new link to start the game. Enjoy!

Download the most recent sound drivers, then install them. If that doesn't work, post your computers specs (mainly the type of sound card you have) and we can work from there.

It's a security measure, the only way "around it" it actually to go through it. You will need to be given access by one of the network admins there. They will need to set it up for you. You are probably saying, "They aren't going to do that for me, they have it set up so that we aren't supposed to use their computers for things like this." You would be right.

It's ony a matter of editing the default profile.dat and adding a line to the auto field, then include that with the install package of Continuum. Not a difficult task.

Make sure your name doesn't start with a symbol, and (if you you are firewalled, like a public, school, or work computer) that you have access to send UDP packets.

Didn't someone else have this same (or similar) problem with the same zone, recently? I would contact the zone admin and let them know. It might require some settings changes on their end.

hit cntrl+alt+delete and close everything except explorer and Continuum. Also check the advanced options in continuum and make sure you have clicked both "Avoid page flipping" and "no framerate limit."

make sure it is in the same directory, and I would double check the names you have in the .ini vs the names of the actual files.

Try to re-enter, you should have all the files downloaded from the first time you "got in."

Twister = VIE client and remember that It no longer functions... The server control of the greens is one of the reasons why (?) Watchgreen was added as a server command, not a client command, during the time before Continuum (again ?)

I'm pretty sure the server determines the green at the time it is spawned. Security.

tell him to make sure he enters the zone in spec mode. Other than that, maybe he has a really bad (slow HD), the lag settings in MERC are too tight, or he just lags badly.

Hit the "escape" key (ESC), THEN read the little panel. Then hit the "c" key (capitalization is not required.) Then use "page up" and "page down" keys to move the arrow to the setting you wish to change. Hit the "Enter" key, THEN change the value, THEN hit the "enter" key again. Continue changing the settings are mush as desired. When finished, you will want to save those settings, so hit the "F10" key to save them. It will take a few seconds before the server begins using the new settings. java and javascript are 2 completely different things, but the options for them are both found in the same area (Tools>Internet Options)

As far as the encoding, you can use whatever format .wav (uncompressed) that you like, from 8bit mono at 11KHz to 16bit stereo at 44.1KHz. The decision should be based on the duration of your sound clip and the quality you desire for it. Always remember that the file size must be 32k or smaller in order to use it in-game.

It's the webserver's fault for !@#$%^&*igning it an image MIME type, These things are configuurable on the server end, and it IS possible to change it there. The PHP code I posted is a workaround. (the basic reasoning is this: how does the webserver know to process a PHP page, rather than just sending you the whole page like it does with an .html file or .txt file? It is configured to do so...the same thing can be done with file types of .lvl)
