  1. Locked: this thread is considered resolved (it was resolved by the time Akai moved it.) If you require additional !@#$%^&*istance with the popup problem, please start a new thread with any additional info you have gained, and we will happily offer !@#$%^&*istance.

  3. Only if you are on a P120 with dialup on a 33.6.
  4. winamp v2.72 runs way smoother than v3.x I'm on an athlon 1Ghz with 384 PC133 RAM and a Radeon 7200 and I get minimal performance decreases, even during song changes. Without winamp playing: 230 fps, with winamp: 220. The only catch to this is VBR mp3's. Variablt bit rate mp3's alwaays chug my machine when playing, but that is to be expected. There is no reason to use VBR encoding anyway, in this day and age of broadband connections. FYI, listening to a CD shouldn't hurt perforance hardly at all, so you may consider that option too.

    Banner's

The continuum editor serves its purpose better than paint. Take advantage of the ez tools you are given.

    Banner's

If you want to go that route, don't forget to apply the SS 256 color palette, and to save it as an 8 bit image. I didn't mention that option for a reason, I figured it was a more advanced topic which could simply cause confusion. So, Trunks, if this last option confuses you, don't worry about it, it won't yield better results than the built in banner editor in Continuum, it's just another (more difficult) way of making a banner.

    Banner's

There are a few ways to have banners. 1) Make your own. From the main menu of continuum, hit CTRL E, which will bring up a banner editor where you can draw them. 2) Download banners from subspacedownloads.com. http://www.subspacedownloads.com/?id=banners If you have decided to download banners, you must place the .bmp files (the format of banners) into your Continuum/Banners/ directory. In order to set a banner in the game, make sure you are in spectator mode (ESC S) and then hit ESC B. This will bring up a window which lists all your banners. If you have a LOT of banners (for example you download a lot from subspacedownloads.com) then it will take a while for this screen to appear, and depending on the power of your computer, may appear to freeze your computer. If this happens you may wish to move some of the banners to a different directory, while leaving a smaller amount in the /banners directory.
  8. Oddly, when you have a username which starts with a character that is NOT alphanumeric (letters or numbers) then you receive a "Connection to Server lost" message. If you repeatedly receive this message and are sure that you are able to ping the zone just fine, then chances are that you need to adjust the login name in your profile (NOT the profile name, because it has no effect on logging into a server.) http://www.ssforum.net/viewtopic.php?t=651
  9. JC, you beat my post because I had to take my pizza out of the oven 8( I was almost through with it by then too.
  10. trained...the 3 programs you just mentioned all have 3 entirely different purposes. Ad-aware detects and removes spyware (cookies, registry settings, and apps that get installed and cause popups and report web usage statistics to marketing companies who then then sell it) Norton is an anti-virus which detects and removes virii (usually embedded in untrustworthy software or files on P2P networks) Zone Alarm is a software firewall which limits access to and from the internet based on permissions for each program (which you set in the zone alarm app.) It also allows access to and from ports on your local machine via the same. If you are entirely paranoid, you can run all 3 of these side by side, because the overlap of what each does, with respect to the others, is probably about 5%) They all serve their own purpose.
  11. if it REALLY bothers you...unplug your PC/case speaker from the mobo
  12. when i start my computer it beeps too... when it's loading the bios, right after the ram check. No software missing here.
  13. Locked... this has gotten way off topic and I doubt if it is helping Volts at all. Volts, if you require additional !@#$%^&*istance, feel free to start a new thread with the new information you have found. Seriously guys, this is tech support, not a lounge, there are more than enough other forums to hold the undying "which version of windows is your favorite" discussion.
  14. get a multimedia keyboard with ffwd and rev keys
  15. What is occuring: some other application is stealing the window focus. Hit cntl-alt-del and close all apps except 'explorer.' But do this one by one until you find out which one is causing your problem. Once you have discovered the thieving app, make sure that it is not running when you play.

  20. if all else fails, replicate the noises yourself (like the guy in police academy.) I bet you cant do the engine hum and a thor at the same time, hence, when installing yourself, be sure to put 1/16 duplex.
  21. from whatsnew.txt (for continuum) * added configurable colors. Background color, menu colors, radar colors are now read from colors.bm2
  22. this has been a known issue with cheaper keyboards for years, replace the keyboard with a "better" one, and your issues will be solved.
  23. 1)monitor drivers 2)"force default resolutions" in the options (try it on and off)
  24. sounds like the profile has 640x480 set for it. Change the res in your profiles to Default, then select the res you want from the dropdown on the main screen. http://www.alphasvs.com/images/profile_settings.gif
