So, what happened? Details please...

Actually, the japs sent up balloon bombs that hit the U.S. mainland, some damaged equipment in Long Beach, and a family minus the husband was killed while having a picnic. And I do care, my grandfather (dad's dad) was a tailgunner in the Naval air force during the war. I look back on his logs, and hear his stories, I think I'm !@#$%^&*ed lucky to be alive. My other grandfather (mom's dad) served as a leiutenant in Musolini's army, under the threat that his new 15 year old bride (my grandmother) and my still unborn uncle Gino would be killed on the spot. He did what he did to keep the ones he loved alive. In the end he helped free some prisoners who were there for the lynching of old Benito and his mistress... "Dolce" my !@#$%^&*... Conscription is for !@#$%^&*s! Call of duty ain't no video game for me drake, and I sure as !@#$%^&* won't play it because it's a slap in the face to all of that! Speaking of slaps in the face, 50 years later we have Klinton apologizing to the japanese government for dropping those atomic bombs (which were used to prevent another 5 years of war) Yet, not once has there been an official acknowledgement from the Japanese government for the attacks on Pearl Harbor, the slaughter of Manchuria, rape of Nanking, occupation of Laos... (taps foot waiting for this to happen with a pissed look on my face)

Didn't you hear that the best !@#$%^&*ult is with the least amount of people knowing about it? 6 troops at most, private chats, commit everything to memory, never write ANYTHING down where it could be found. You let the enemy know when and where your attack was coming. Seriously fatal flaw of any plan. Now, if it were a diversion, if the real plan were to be implemented a day before the advertised date and at a different location (think D-day or the sweeping attack in kuwait in '91) then you would stand a greater chance of succeeding. Fall back, reconoiter and come up with something better... Dismissed gentlemen.

Where did you hear that? Forgot where that post was, somewhere on the board. Could be a rumor or something someone made up. If I run across it again, I'll put a link up to it.

*ROFLMAO* I'm gonna have to abstain from voting on this one, I'm partial to TS and PriitK isn't doing development anymore, he's passing the code on to someone else. Shame though. That the cont code wasn't released. top-down 3D gfx would have made the game easier to move in the modern gaming era. But still, it's the playability and not the whizzes and bangs that come from it that are important.

There's a reason why Starcraft has been around as long as subspace, but why subspace only has 1-100th of it's player base. I'm listing ways that we can breathe life back into this game and increase player levels by 300% by years end (if this is implemented) 1. First and formost, Advertise: Only a few hours out of your week and outside of the game, passing out flyers or perhaps wearing a t-shirt with the subspace logo, with a short URL to download the game (the shorter the url the better, easier to remember or write) under the logo itself. This can be done at a local mall, just walking around window shopping, going to EBgames, arcades, so on. 2. For some of our financialy better off players, burn 50 mini-card CDs with the game on it, ready to install. P!@#$%^&* out one per person. A nice envelope and cd label to pretty up the package will help even more. Set the CD to autostart so instantly run the installer. Again, a public venue such as a mall, arcade or a sidewalk corner advertising the game will get people interested. 3. Word of mouth: Another form of advertisement. This is older than billboards, buses and t-shirts put together. Get someone one into a conversation about video games. "have you ever tried this one game, Subspace?" reply will most likely be no, then fill in with your own experiences. 4. Mobile billboard. You've seen some people drive around with huge logos on their cars, sometimes doing ads for companies, sometimes just something like a large autobot logo? Think BIG subspace logo with an url underneath. While driving around, people will notice. Someone here has already sone some aussie subspace players group on their college campus, let's see how far we gan get this monkey to swing ladies and gents!

Yeah, I can imagine a little L.C. in school L.C. What for are opposites? Teacher: Ok, opposites are... Like you and me, I'm an adult, you're a child, you're a boy, I'm a girl... L.C.: I'f I kick you in nuts will it hurt? *gives a flying high kick to the female teacher in the crotch* Teacher: YOU LITTLE !@#$%^&*! You're right though, learning languages is difficult, whether human or computer code. Books can give you all the info you want, but without someone to drill it into you, it's not going to stick. It's not easy for me either, good thing though some of the work was already done, I.E.; Seth Brendel, someone builds a molecular analyzer this, someone else makes a m!@#$%^&* spectrometer that... I just put most of it together. I'm lazy That reminds me, I haven't seen the fly in a while, I think I'll rent it later... I already had a look at FMOD as well, for a time I was considering writing in the needed code to implement it, trying two EXEs side by side to see what kind of frame rate I could get out of the two, see which is faster. But reading what I read stopped me dead cold. And on the .map, looks like more work. I don't mind hard work when it's needed though. Just remember, most of my work was moved from the 3D rad engine to the Void engine. I'm gonna have to ask around at garage games about the .map format and see if anyone else has put in code for their games.

Why not just make it a paypal event? Hear me out. All the players who want to do a 50 killed and your out event (should last a couple hours at least) sign up in a major arena hosted by one of the legit servers out there operated by polix or LC or someone. Each player drops down $5 for the event, the last one standing at the end of the night gets the pot minus a server operator and referee fee (10% of the total pot) if 40 people join in, that's $180 after the op takes his cut. Not much lost for most plenty to gain for one player in a night. Just something for the players to think about. For a free game, it should be worth some effort to make money off of.

Ok L.C. I think for music I'll just be sticking with OpenAL. According to the site, FMOD is also a pay as u use piece of software(not s!@#$%^&*ing out an extra $100+ for a hobbyist license) . Not to mention what I've read about the two formats, it seems to be slower than .ogg while gaming if you have larger soundtrack files. Also, I've been thinking of redoing the HUD, with larger icons in the corner, If anyone here has GFX reccomendations or something already done up, please don't be afraid to post. Lastly, the MAP idea looks like something that could be implemented If I used a different engine 3DRad nor void are capable of using the map format. Honestly, it's hard to tell with only one guy on the void development team, if he's ever going to update his engine again. If not, it looks like another port to another engine could be in the cards. One other idea struck me a couple of nights ago as well. A preview of each arena before entering so you could chose to download it before entering and then play as opposed to waiting for the entire level to download. Just look at a picture while gameplay is in progress instead of reading a brief description. This is something that can be done easily on the front end, but that will wait until later.

How I'd program a typical woman (pardon me, my FemBasic is very rusty) 1 !@#$%^&* goto 7 2 woman goto 1 3 I want my slippers goto 1 4 put out goto 1 5 you goto 1 6 hey goto 1 7 start output legs 8 output to port 2 9 output to port 4 10 output to port 2 11 output to port 4 12 output to port 2 13 output to port 4 14 complete walking towards 15 call function previous line (-2) input 16 run module (output line %15) <RUN WOMAN> <Hit play on tape recorder> Thought you did know how to program L.C.?

Never played kingdom hearts, but yeah, building blocks, albeit with more shapes, and textures that can be applied in the editor. If there's something easier in the long run that can make maps and lvls easier to add to the game then.... DAMMIT! That means more work... I thought I did. Too many people posted at the same time so I couldn't tell who or what I was answering to. No, you don't have to do any compatibility mode anything... as for the 24/0 support, I'm a guy, not a business. I have a life outside of these four circuits and get to things when I can. M'kay bootrear... Err.. RootBear

Eh..... your profile says male... my fault, thought you HAD corrected your profile.

Here you are. *passes a big carob chip cake to Jab with candles that look like dynamite sticks but aren't*

kiss!@#$%^&* J/K Seriously though... Changed the guy's info to make him a little girl then edited his U/P? That's like making Mr. Gidury wear a skirt. (filler info for those who didn't attend St. Anthony's school in 1991. Sir Scratchalot as he was known, was a hardnosed conservative history teacher who was more often than not put to task by his students. He also had a purpetual crotch itch, and he would stand up in front of the class every few minutes, in the middle of a lecture and proceed to "correct" his problem. One day I had enough and said, "Dude, then have medicine now that can stop that!" then everyone pointed and laughed. Another student then chimed in and said "yeah, or he should wear a skirt to let himself air out once in a while")

PRIMATIVES! Not you guys, I mean pre-existing primatives that could have textures attached to them instead of full out maps. Just like what SS/CONT has, except in 3D. The BMP/LVL or whatever could be sent out with the name level.lv3d or whatever. Just place the texture on the primative, give the primative coordinates in 3D space ( Drake3D? ) and two files would only have to be sent, the bmp and the lv3d file, not an entire map. That would save on server bandwith and make things simpler for all. Just hear me out. The primatives could be things like tubes, walls and other representative objects. Simple click, drag, drop, paint. Just like SSME or Drake's editor. There may be some time before the next release guys (looks at galactic clock) This'll take quite a bit of doing, remaking the game to get it to do all of this. Then an editor. (wonders if PriitK and JeffP are bald or just grey at 35)

Speaking of terrorists, what is the purpouse behind "taking your penis back"? and the rifle. Isn't shooting someone for occupying your chat when the don't belong there a bit much? Wouldn't slashing their tires and leaving the word !@#$%^&* in really big letters smeared in feces on their apartment door be enough? I understand why it's called molewhack. God, she should have that thing lanced and burned...

*stares at another really long post, head hurts more* Granted the LVL/Map idea does make sense. Now that I think about it, if there is a downloadable format that can then be uncompressed in the users lvl folder (yes, I know a LVL folder doesn't exist yet) and a map based on client side gfx might be a better solution. When I say client side, I mean all the tiles would be downloaded like on an old fashioned .lvl file for subspace/cont. But a second map file indicating points in space where zone components would be placed (IE blocks, flags so on) instead of being downloaded constantly per session from the server. As for the 3D radar camera, I tried that idea once in previous versions of CNL. It caused several slowdowns and in many cases crashed the client long before a decent game could get going. That would like be trying to render twice, perhaps three times as much information as one would have originaly tried to render unlike with just 3d Radar dots representing ships. Version 0.7 was the last, and unfortuneatley (or fortuneatley) I lost most of that code in a HD crash almost 2 years ago. And, I've stared down the barrel of several guns before, a turret cannon isn't going to scare me (at least not a picture of one anyways ) !@#$%^&*IT PRITT! If he had only released the code for continuum to the public, there could have been a client capable of doing 3D renders now instead of an orthogonal 3D representation, or all this hard work making a whole new game.

Didn't know about FMOD. Kinda late now though. But it's just a matter of DLL dependencies, so we'll see. I've been using MS3D for years, and while it has it's drawbacks it still has advantages. I've also been looking at MODO but no idea how that'll work out. At this point, you've brought up HL quite a bit. I'm starting to think using the HL engine might be an appropriate means of getting some of these other features in the game, but after all this work.... why? Head hurts reading all that... STOP IT STOP IT!!!!!

Typing a list as we speak, may take a while though. Have to remember ALL of what's in continuum. Most of the basics have been covered.

It's amazing how I write out the word "RACIST' following someone who says "TERRORIST", and I'm the one being bashed. Sure terrorism exists, but no culture is perfect. If you see someone of a different ethnicity, do you label them as terrorists too? Perhaps I should remind the world of the FLQ? Or Aum Shinrikyo? Or is America* so full of itself just to label the entire Middle East (since 9/11) and anyone originating from it as terrorists or potential ones? And you should realize that Galactic Melee is Rak'kar's game, not Ahmed's. Ahmed owns the subspace.net domain, so stop throwing two people in the same boat. *Note: this is my purposely written generalization Looking.... Looking......... Reading some more........ Just in case I was wrong.......... Nope, don't see where I've slamed you. And yeah, I'm well aware of those gas attacks in the subway. Trust me, it's not all of America that's full of itself. After all politics is just a civilized way of saying nice doggie until you can find a rock to bash doggies skull with and run away with his meat. GW says that we have allies, and he tries time and again to make the sheeple believe that some of them actualy like the current regime, but in reality that would be like Clinton marching into Ohio and declaring that it's seceeded just so he can cover his own rear during the whole Lewinski thing.

Wait, are we talking about a $100 entry fee for a tournament event, the final winner gets the pot - %10 commission for the server operator? Let's see, those brazen enough to enter an event = 32. Winner gets 3200 - %10 = $2880

If I were allowed to install SS/Cont on here I would gladly meet up for a private game, two men enter one man leaves... As for the USA comment, you get that one for free, but only because of the government over the past 50 years.
