  1. if you don't have administrator rights on your windows account, you can't create files in c:\windows and c:\program files (the latter where your continuum folder is probably). Solution/Suggestion: move continuum folder outside those folders and in a e.g c:\games folder

can't defend yourself with intelligence and your beliefs so you'll change to aggression ? The debate whether the world is so old is about the same with christian people rejecting Darwin's theory (which makes a lot of logical sense if you just think about it for a minute). The arguments against it is usually 'because the bible contradicts it'. I don't have any problem with people not believing in Darwin's theory and i don't have any problem with people believing the bible in everything. I DO have a problem with people forcing others who aren't interested in their belief to believe in it (e.g some schools rejecting Darwin's theory oO")

thats the other extrema the scale: [extreme believers in religion, reject everything else ----------------- normal believer ------------ just don't care ------------- believes in science ------------------------------------ extreme believers in science = truth, reject everything else]
  4. Everything written in the bible cannot be proved, i think a lot of studies tried for themselves, all of them failed, else there would have been papers published with the evidence. Conclusion: the bible is useless as a reference, it's as good as a harry potter book or any other story. And yes, egyptians did some extraordinary things building those piramids on such short notice. Either they had some kind of technique for it, or the dates found are wrong. But the fact that 'god' helped them is wrong, because farao's considered them gods themselves. that was 150 years ago o_O" , if people saw ridiculous signs they always thought it was a sign of god because they were much more religious back then than now, so that isn't really 'proof' or anything. There are also a lot of unexplainable scientific things, but that isn't proof for anything. Unexplainable things can be because of missing or wrong information and that information could have been anything, but religious people seem to like that insecurity and jump on it like flies on !@#$%^&*.

which will never happen unless all religious influences dissappear from the government & politicians in general

actually thats a great comparison. God & jesus & all the like that are being worshipped is just the adult, mature version of the easter bunny, santa claus, tooth fairy for kids. Reasons for believing in it are exactly the same
  8. I ment based on conclusive evidence that someone is cheating. Like calculating the distance required to go from point A to point B when they didn't use a warp point or attached to a ship or went to center, if the distance is remarkably smaller than shortest distance, then they just lagged or hacked through walls. This is probably a bad example if you want to keep the server strain as low as possible with overhead checks. Edit:maybe a bit better example: like the server checks what the delay was between 2 fired shots. Smaller delay than specified in the ini = not possible = hacking.

this thread is not a joke, religions are See, that is what you get from posting a 'women thread'
  10. So people rather choose an already proposed possibility rather to find their own or at least make time for it to think about it ? They must be pretty desperate, else I find it pretty pathetic that they don't think about it themselves, which just proves they couldn't really care about it.

OMG!!! NO WAI !!888 (using azerty )!!!, t3h truth h45 b33n r3v34l3d !!!!!888!! (yeah i couldn't resist) not everything needs evidence, but things that don't need evidence should be considered to be kept to yourself (or there will be a lot of people be annoyed by your pointless are stupid remarks, altough they might sound perfectly logical to you) But really, don't you think the whole christianity stuff is just a tad-little farfetched (just like all other major religions out there) ? It's almost as bad as the whole conspiracy theorist people But hey, people just seem to like proving their stupidity over and over again so it doesn't surprise me anymore
  12. Actually i've been wondering... why do people need religion anyway? Are those people too stupid to draw their own conclusions or ignorant and just blindly accept anything that someone else say to them? As far as i know it goes as following: Religion = collection of beliefs Beliefs = statements without any proof (not that that is a problem) So the possibility that it is just a fairy tale lie can be quite high, why the !@#$%^&* do people just accept it? Maybe a comparison is in order: I tell you an obvious lie but that noone can say for certain that it wasn't true: Dragons existed in a world before, went extint and evolved to gods. Would you believe it and worship it like people do when they go to church ? And miracle cures don't really back it up either? I know it can be necessary for people to believe in something to hold up against any misfortune they come across, but ffs can't they just keep their beliefs for themselves? Besides, a simple logical mind can conclude that religions did in fact much much more bad things that actual good stuff to people. Religions lead to difference of opinions which can grow to war which kill people (ppl getting killed is still bad afaik)

depends on what your understand under 'believe in'. Do you mean 'do you believe he existed' or 'do you seek help and pray to him/her when you're in trouble or thank him/her if you got lucky'. Either way both for me are no. Everything just merely related to religion/church is a lie to me (i rather make my own decisions and beliefs than being told what to believe in)

  15. dcme used to be faster than ssme though, if you use a previous version without elvl/lvz it should be faster than ssme, but the latest release has an annoying slowdown with that full map preview. Stretchblt is not designed to stretch in 25ms, and definately not for a 1024x1024 bitmap. ^- i or sama should fix that :/ The thing with that full map preview is that it redraws it (which is kinda slow) everytime the radar is updated, meaning everytime a tile is set/changed. Slow redraw + a lot of times = crippled dcme. It even lags on my 1.83ghz core (only uses 1) Oh and i have absolutely no idea why dcme takes about 100-120mb ram too :s
  16. when a client reports a cheater along with the reason , let the server check the reason too. Although, the bad thing about distributed client approach is, like smong said, that clients need all info on the other players itself, which a modified client can exploit :/ @smong: yeah, the normally impossible stuff checks
  17. engine failure still keeps you floating ? and you cant prize an engine failure for x sec btw lvz placement on moving ships is impossible right ?
  18. or have an ace leader in each team and he can deploy stuff with his ship by flying to the spot and send a construct command to a bot. Then a blueprint pops up, with a hp bar that raises to show its completion, also make sure the constructor cant' move while building or he can just fly away (mildly annoying when you try to construct stuff and always float away because your ship isn't completely stopped), however i don't really know if thats possible ?
  19. i've played it a bit and its quite nice. As the server went down i'll post it here: Idea: maybe rebuilding stuff can be done by placing a ship (1 of the 4 ships can handle repairs, maybe a slow one like a tank), and the more ppl around the destroyed building the faster it rebuilds. Well, except when your base is destroyed, then you can't rebuild anything Or maybe limit the choice of ships depending which factory is still present, and no power= no defense guns (like obelisk of missile launcher, sentries don't need power)
  20. everything a client sends has to be double checked by the server. Weapon delay when client firing received, player position when client send 'turning to a different angle' (angle speed check too), ...
  21. don't think bush thought that up, he's just a dummy the government shows to the outside world, much as every president. Things like that were probably managed & created by some obscure governemnt department nobody knows about
  22. nooooooooo my green bar you just had to jinx it didn't you
  23. war only benefits economy in the countries that won and had no losses (on own soil). Economy in japan & europe was crushed after ww2, and usa greedily used that to boost its own economy because europe had but no choice than to import to rebuild everything
  24. have you fallen to the point to where you can't live without seeing partly naked women pics every 5 minutes ?
