  1. on the contrary, look at all those points i'll even add some more: ...
  2. That only works if the teachers aren't also complete morons (or more likely: are stupified after long years working with them) Still i think i'll write an email about it but i'll wait a bit until more till the end of the year because if they say something to the others i'm sure they do nothing anymore ... and how bad it may be, at least they spare me a few hours making a website for english or translating a text in french. I'll prolly address it after the final presentation, hoping to make them fail, so they can't p!@#$%^&* to next year (especially when they have already 2 fails ) ahh yes revenge will be sweet
  3. it doesn't even matter if they work on it or now. If they do something they will !@#$%^&* it up, guaranteed. They both failed Java & cobol in the first semester and now they have to work with it .... oO" (and the exam wasn't even that hard, i had 16/20 and 17/20 respectively). I have let them do some stuff but i had to redo it anyway. Can you do the gui in java (i never made a gui in java before so i asked them). After a whole week they still had nothing that worked. I made the complete gui in 4 hours .... Alrighty ... let's try something else then OK, let me ... sigh also ... do the gui then, can you do the cobol part ? Another week passes by ... how far is your cobol ? I'm quoting now: "well i had some problems with svn, it !@#$%^&*ed up stuff, but i started from scratch and i have this (an example to print some lines to a printer).... SIGH ... i made the entire use case of connecting to the database, retrieving the project details and calculating the total amount of time with subtotals and all in 5-6 hours... This is not going so well... owkaaaay, if you can't program java nor cobol then can you do the scenario's for the use cases so i can make JUnit test cases. A few days passes by (i asked monday, i needed them by friday because i had to present them). They FINALLY gave me a doc file thursday evening (oh yes thanks a lot for giving me night work ....) and they just copied the use case text a few times, changing some words here and there .... sooo i had to write the scenario from scratch by myself... Sigh, at this point i already regretted not finding better team members. Anyway, i ask them to do the language parts of the course. They still keep their tendency to show me something thursday evening (like LATE evening) when we have to show it on friday... Imagine a word do!@#$%^&*ent thrown together, 5-6 different fonts (luckily not with all colors of the rainbow), and text completely translated straight from babelfish or google translate......( the french part was definately like that, the english part was ok .. i guess for the teachers at least, for me it was a failure in all kinds of twisted ways) Urge to give them pain is ... pretty high. The lesson is: if you've done university, dropped out and go to college: expect a lot, and i mean A LOT of morons. Even the ones in my class are complete idiots in almost all courses i follow
  4. It's for a course (Projects II that has a like 17 studypoints :/) and you have to make a program that is written with java/cobol/asp (all courses that i had) and do stuff for it for dutch/english/french (also courses i have). It's like all courses thrown together in a practical course to see if you're capable of building a real system like you'll have to when you work in a company. It's not really a thesis for my studies (as i'm not in my final year), but i'll have to do internship next year (with hopefully a more capable team >.>). The problem is that i can't really say about it much as all our points are shared. If they don't do it and i don't do it then we get 0, if i do it and it's good they also get my points (and they know and exploit that >.>, well not that they would be able to help anyway). I was thinking of writing an email to the project manager to explain that they should fail for this course for oh so many reasons but i think i'll be cutting in my own flesh if i do that. not going to work i'm afraid. The code is already in Courier new 10pt. Shrinking that to 25% will make it completely unreadable :/ well if it were only this i could live with it, but there's still much missing, like all my use cases + code ... sigh
  5. I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT Some minor (read: major) difficulties have been tackling me - Team members: they should be shot for not doing anything at ALL or !@#$%^&*ing everything up if they actually do something. Note to self: bring crowbar next meeting - Word: ahhhhh yes, word 2003, it does not like me. It crashes every so often when it tries to save... after deleting the autosave ofcourse. (This is solved after saving it as *.rtf making the size go from 1mb to 140mb but meh, at least i don't have to !@#$%^&*ing rewrite everything 3 times) - Teachers: Ah yes, feedback, crucial to know if you're on the right track to what they want or expect. Too bad they don't have a clue what they want, and are usually responding each of my questions with .. hmm yeah ... maybe you should ask ... or hmm yeah, that's not such a big deal anyway... - Deadline: yay, deadline 15 april. No big deal if it weren't for the fact that i have to make about 3 !@#$%^&*ing other presentations for languages course, prepare for an exercise of ASP.NET 2008 that counts for 25% of the exam, and also program the ASP part of the project - Handing it in: yay again, i have to hand it in .. duh, but on paper ... all code included *SHUDDER* (which will make that report at least 100-300 pages long) AND on a CD..... I fail, but i absolutely fail why i have to hand it in on a CD when i have to let my printer work to death to get all the pages out of it when i have to hand it in on a CD too .... (And there's such thing as DOKEOS where they post the course info and do!@#$%^&*ents AND there's a feature DROP BOX to hand in stuff.... i fail to see the logic of paper & cd, making this completely retarted and useless work ... yay) - Presentation: it seems i also have to prepare a presentation for it ... buuuuut i have absolutely no clue what i have to say about it nor did i get any explanations about it. Oh yeah, also i need to prepare it in dutch, french and english and need to be able to switch on demand .... crap. - Team members: yeah i already got that, but as they are mentally re!@#$%^&*ed i even have to explain how everything works so they can answer when they get a question... (stabbing them (with Mr. Stabbity ofcourse) to death solves this problem) Well that's about it i guess... must plan revenge now Btw i have attached my report for your viewing pleasure (yeah no reading pleasure as it is in dutch, the biggest part are diagrams anyway) for those who are curious.
  6. I agree Each country can have his own rules and rights for now (although the human rights organisation would like otherwise), but i find it pretty irritating that the influence spreads so far within our own countries, and those act with an overflowing amount of arrogance that they are being targeted as soon as some law restricts them in a way. They want us to adapt to their needs and demands while they are still (and hopefully always) the minority. By all means i don't care what religion theybelieve in but at least don't annoy other people with it AND follow the rules of the country that has not even remotely anything to do with non-western ideologies, even if it contradicts their belief. Simple (extreme) example: - Serial killers form a believe to kill ppl - They do as they wish - We have to cave in to their demands to respect their believe Now apply this is on a nation scale and you have the islam Btw if this gets out of hand you just know this _will_ lead to world war III between western and islamitic countries and there's nothing the UN can do about it
  7. You must not eat at the "Y" very much, huh? more like never
  8. lol it's illegal here to work under 18yo (unless it's a holiday job). It's not like you can work, you have to go to school until your 18 anyway
  9. i don't get it. What else is there to perceive besides a lamp o-O
  10. isn't databinding (using the DataSource properties) much easier to link an array to a listview ? (i've only used C# with ASP.Net so i'm not entirely sure that works everywhere Spoiler! --Click here to view--*joke* maybe you should hire http://img394.imageshack.us/img394/9141/trainerbattle10yr.png then */joke*
  11. nope that woud throw an VariableNotDefinedException
  12. This sounds strangely familiar to logic of politicians
  13. ooh that's one nasty bug. I hate these bugs that seem random but are caused by some stupid stupid thing that's hidden like !@#$%^&* and involves LOTS of frustration and backtracking to find ....
  14. start -> run -> "sfc /scannow" will scan for missing windows files, you need your windows cd to restore them though
  15. try using the installer posted in http://www.ssforum.net/index.php?showtopic=19640
  16. ok thanks a lot ^^ Phew, less mistakes than expected (in the first one anyway) The first one was to a 'bon client', the latter was to a friend so i guess i could use tu
  17. hm my best cd would be my backup cds of the programs i've written ... what ? noone said anything about music cds ? *grin mode* who buys music nowadays anyway */grin mode*
  18. hm this is odd, usually this is because the control contains a reference to another control that doesn't exist, but a cProgressbar only contains a 2 shapes and a label o_O" I'll make an quick installer for the latest version, that should fix any non referenced links. Sorry about your map though, isn't there an autosave made ? we definately need some general error handling that makes a crash dump of the maps :s
  19. I use JBuilder 2007, it uses the eclipse core and has about everything you'll ever need. It's one of the best IDE's i've worked with (certainly compared to visual studio or notepad)
  20. copy it to system32 folder, Start -> run regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\comdlg32.ocx
  21. rofl ur kidding me right? it takes like 5-10 minutes to get my laptop booted up from start to finish (finish being all startup programs loaded and everything running smoothly) EDIT: typo not really o-O", vista took around 30-60 seconds to start, xp over a minute at least.
  22. Vista is more optimized for fast user interactability and design, that's why it's not as performant as XP. Vista is nice for the extra security for those who need it, the shiny layout that can also be put in xp with 3rd party tools, and it reacts and boots faster than xp (well at least on my laptop it did). The big con for me is however that it constantly uses more than it should letting my cpu get hotter, meaning my fan rotates faster meaning more noise, and i hate noise on a computer (especially on a laptop). An other reason i stepped down was because i didn't need the extra security in any way, vista is good for novice users on that aspect. Also some games still refuse to run on vista because they are protected with memory encryption like gameguard etc, and if that's not compatible with vista then you're screwed, but that was a year ago. It might have changed already. I've been thinking to switch back to vista, to give it another shot but i'll have to wait until there's a new activation patch as the previous (the bios emulation exploit) has been patched
