People show respect and try to remember those who die because the probability is low that they will ever see them again. You would be surprised at how negligent people can be in regards to expensive equipment.

Actually been following this story for awhile, and I am 18 and live in fricking Iowa. I'd say she's dead, but anything is possible. Afterall, Elizabeth Smart survived for a long time because her kidnappers became her caretakers, or something like that. Only to return home to be exploited. Her parents are quite irresponsible.
