  1. yes plenty of people "could" do it. But at least *I* can be !@#$%^&*ured that with priitk being the only one with the source that it will not get leaked out. Lets say priitk gave the src to "playerB" and playerB did 1 or 2 nice updates. Perfect for us!! yay!!!! but then all of a sudden "real life" takes over (like it does OFTEN in subspace) and PlayerB decides to p!@#$%^&* the src on to another player. So on and So on. Then by the end of this cycle a lot of ppl would have the src. Another thing that could happen is priitk passes the src to "playerC" and playerC thinks all 'his work' or 'his projects' should be open source. Well as I am a fan of SOMETHINGS being open source, continuum isn't one of them. Cheats would run ramped, it'd be twister x 10 all over again. And you can't deney that twister almost completely killed subspace before they were able to stop it. (and that was without open source) So yea open src continuum might get more updates, but in the end i think the cheaters would win and kill subspace a lot faster than what its dieing at now with not having ANY updates. If I could rest !@#$%^&*ured that only the player that priitk gives the src to would keep it then I *might* be all for that, but there are very few ppl *I* would want to have the src. Because I know a lot of subspace devs are 100% for open source and would release it. I'm sure i'll get a lot of flames for this but guess what....I DON'T CARE
  2. pfft screw getting priitk addicted. Get JeffP addicted

  4. there is no max unless you set one in the cfg file. He is saying you could run 300 players with ease before you run into problems.
  5. I agree with a lot that you said. Change has to be a good change. Not just for the sake of changing. A lot of zones make this mistake with maps because they give in to the whining 12 year olds. One thing I would like to add to your list is changing Server IP's. Zones skip around and change hosts for various reasons but this is a BIG mistake in my book. You would be suprised at how many players you end up losing because of this. Zones need to do their homework, find a good host and stick with it unless something REALLY bad is happening with the host and you HAVE to change. This should be a last resort move. I also enjoy SVS zones. Always have and always will. The first zone I ever played was Dueling Arizona and then went straight to the SVS League back when it was a permission only zone. The thing about SVS now is that the SVS population is dying very fast. SVS is at a handicap with this because its hard for a SVS zone to draw players from 'super ship' zones. But it is fairly easy for a fast pace zone to draw players from another fast paced zone. So because of this, SVS is losing a lot of players. Take Powerball Zone for an example. I remember about 2 years ago it would get up to players at times. Now its lucky to get 50. I stopped playing powerball when they started having all these other leagues within it. So i'm not sure what killed it but *I* think the change to ASSS wasn't needed and might have been the final nail in the coffen. But I really shouldn't say this because I'm not sure why the change was made. Was the change made just because ASSS is the new and 'best' thing on the market? I don't think that was the case, not as long as Ekted had a say in it. But that is another issue, Ekted has left the "PB Council" as of recently.
  6. SSCC Server: Pentium 3.0ghz 1024 megs of memory 200 gig hard drive. Windows 2003 Server edition. Full duplex 100 megabit port.
  7. !@#$%^&*it syrus, we all know you have admin (cause you always post in locked topics LOL). So go ahead and install it
  8. I didn't say GS said that in a post, it was a conversation in game But you are right, we move on. I mean after all these years, we are use to this lol
  9. agreed mav. I'm telling you, it was said some !@#$%^&* where!!!!!
  10. When I spoke to ghost about the "update" he said that priitk "had a free weekend and agreed to work on the client". So that lead me to think it would be completed on the one weekend he had free :/ But I will not hold my breath for any actual release.
  11. Yea my post was misleading. What I meant was the only person who could do that was priitk who happens to be the only person with physical access to the biller AND the only person who has the src . Face it, without his cooperation we are screwed. (client/biller wise)
  12. lol mav Well somebody install the !@#$%^&* thing!!
  13. exactly. The only person who can do anything about that is the person who has the src
  14. SSCC - I took over payments from Testtube, Run by SVS & Admiral Kirk Hosts 3 populated zones and 1 new zone Metal Gear Desert Storm RedStar The Complex
  15. God I hope so I thought he was saying that would be the only hosts left in SS once Altec shutsdown (IF) Regardless revolting wouldn't solve anything.
  16. The only thing i'll say to that whole post is Death+ already holds his zones hostage Hmm there seems to be atleast one more host besides confess and priit
  17. Not really. Because One person pretty much holds subspace in the palm of his hand (or on the tip of his hand that is on the mouse). With one click he could pretty much shut subspace completely down. Sure someone would setup a server etc to replace the SSC Biller and become 'the main biller' but by the time that happens subspace would have already lost too many players. Basically there are two ppl in subspace 'in control'. One being "the creator" aka Priitk and the other being Ghost Ship. Priitk being the only person with physical access to the biller pretty much makes him god as far as subspace is concerned. That is the problem with letting the same person control the biller AND the src . If he decides he is done with subspace we are screwed lol.
  18. overthrow the council....not a bad idea but I don't think that could happen. The council controls the most major thing in SS and that is the Biller. The reason 90% of the non-ssc zones die is because players do not want to come to a zone that isn't connected to the 'main biller'. Going to a non-ssc zone is like going to a third world country (those who travel know what i'm talking about). Its like you are cut off from civilization. The only way to "overthrow the council" would be to raise so much !@#$%^&* with the right ppl (pretty much just Ghost), that they would have no other choice than to vote in ACTIVE players into the SSC. But I think the "dead weight" is what holds the SSC together :/
  19. There is already a blackjack, heads/tails, guess plugin for MERV & TWCore has a poker bot. There is also a scrabble plugin for MERV (that DS, MG and afew other zones have) and a scrabble plugin for PowerBot I think. Talk was going around about a SSC Games Zone or something where board games like scrabble, monoply, etc would be played. But this was about 3 or 4 years ago.
  20. Well I'll hit a few spam topics in one post. I wonder if JeffP even knows subspace/continuum is still alive? Infantry: Apparently there are two infantries now. 1 is the sony pay to play, and the other is "free infantry". Well as a lot of you are aware when infantry first came out we (ss players) were a little worried that it would steal a large part of our player base. But when I logged into Sony Infantry I found a total population of about 120 players in 3 zones. This was on a friday night @ about 8pm EST. So I said "everyone must have went to the free infantry version". Well I check there and they have about players over 4 zones (even worse). So much for infantry killing subspace huh? Cosmic Rift: Just like infantry we were worried about this game also. Although with its close gameplay to subspace *I* thought for sure CR would be the death of subspace. Well I played it in beta like most ppl and thought it was decent but I would never do the switch over. But after finding out infantry bombed pretty bad I was curious as to how CR was doing. Well I had a conversation with Ghost Ship the other night and he said that CR had a avg population of about 20 players LOL. So, I guess subspace out lasted the almightly Sony eh Anyways, that is my spam bable for today.
  21. Yes there is.
  22. Any news on the updates of Complex?
  23. OK no clue :/
  24. lol I was going to say that but I didn't want to point out the obvious
