Is this related to staff flaming, ship-setting / pub setting complaints or usless spam? Nope. So why it on 17th forum

Did I ever state I have fought weasels in doors and lost? no. Dont assume please. I mainply play in the centre because the balling in 17th is boring now in my opinion. The lancatser should go back to its original design. It seems now too fighter like. Restore that and it wouldnt make much change to the zone, but would revert it back to the anti-x role it had. Lanc best ship to hunt weasels? Well considering there are only two x radar ships that kinda limits you down to the best ship to hunt weasels idiot. The warbird is a more efficent weasel killer because of the greater turning ability it posses and the more powerful bombs. Also with the spread bullets of the lancaster the smaller weasel can dodge them alot easier. Sure you can hit it with bombs but it can run away then come back within seconds with full energy while the warbird can drop a bomb upon it and have the turning speed to throw another bomb or thor at it. If you changed to the old lancaster you would lose the decoys (If i remember correctly) and lose your bullets bar the single stream if multi fire is on (but its not worth it) but you gain harder bombs which can threaten all cloaked ships even more than they can now AND finally turn the Lancaster into the proper X hunting ship it used to be as well as still being an effective line bomber.

Yes I have a thing against the new weasel nez. I find it the most difficult ship to kill out of the lot because of the turning factor of the Lancaster. That and almost every laggy person around seems to use the weasel -.-' I think we should use the weasel in 2v2. It is by far better than the current one, and creates a second fighter ship which is different from the javelin. Provides the javelin with a different form of a fighter ship and leaves it open with weaknesses, especially against bombers. If we are going to keep the same boring, mucked around settings then at least change the weasel to something which agrees to the other ships at least. (Like what the older settings did)

Weee I love ship set threads. They always turn into flaming wars and big disucussions so i'll add to it I suppose. If you have not actually played the old settings for a decent amount of time you CAN NOT give a opinion on whether you think the current settings had skill or not and whether they are better than the old ones. Why cant you? Because you havnt evaluated either side. The thing that kept me and alot of people in 17th was the old settings, we stayed in 17th though when Zeke changed them because he promised 2 weeks trial. That seemed fair to me. But then he left them and didnt turn them back even though he got so much negative feedback it was ridiculas. He could take the fact that everyone REALLY hated the new settings. Now the thing is I have compared the two settings, I still remember old settings when they were around and they had ALOT more skill and were ALOT more fun. There is no skill now a days in 17th. Once you have mastered a ship to a certain degree (which doesnt take long) then you can pick off people with subtle ease. Older settings didnt allow that and it created the fun about it. It took a long while to understand how your ship played properly, which was the downfall for many ships bar the javelin players because it was obvious what their strengths and weaknesses were! The old settings were yes Rice when Lancaster had no bullets when multifire was turned off, and the Levi fired very fast bombs, etc. And I truely believe we should turn back to it but it seems it wont happen and we are stuck with the settings alot of veteran players are fed up of because its BORING. I believe we should turn back to older settings but remove the 1 hit kill weasel for the 2v2 weasel to combat against the javelin and that would balance things in that extreme. (Also change that -*BAD WORD*-ing small weasel to normal size. With its current status its one of the best effective killers in the right hands yet quite hard to kill -.-')

Thank you Delic for your support NBV (and here was me saying I wouldnt post anything else on this but I cant stop myself replying to someone else I respect) I saw this thread and well it niggeled me. For so long ive wanted to shout out the problems I have with the staff, and then I believe was my chance. I dont think I have anymore to say on how poor some staff people are, I have raised my opinion upon this thread, which i'm en!@#$%^&*lted to do without any back lash as long as its not discrimitive of staff peoples names (a rule brought in by Pern and Warcc) and not racist/sexist/etc. You might argue my overall post was discrimitive of staff, I would say it was my opinion on the fact that SOME staff people arnt very good but as ive told people, I REFUSE to tell people these names because that IS discrimitive upon those persons. People have every right to look at this thread and interprit the post how ever they wish. Some have taken it seriously, some have not. Some have considered it a attack on staff out of spite and hatred, others like Delic have understood it was my opinion which I felt I needed to tell before it came out in the wrong way. But one thing I wish to address to you NBV. Everytime ive been involved in a debate it seems that it turns bad against me with something nasty being created. I remember several times getting insulted at by people who I once considered good people, throwing words at me like i'm the Devil because I dont agree with them or I have a stronger opinion than them. I'm not complaining about ALL of staff, just those (and especially one who has driven me fully into this problem, from day 1 when he went angry at me for a stupid reason... before I was even staff!) I want to say one more thing though. 'Be less rash, Delic Roachy wasn't suspended because he voiced his views on the forum; nor was it because he voiced his opinions.' This was posted by Tempest. Tempest, I recieved a message from tablet saying I have been suspended for a week because of the argument I (thats I) started in staff chat. Sorry but pernille addressed me about it in staff chat. Therefore it does appear to me to be about my opinion and nothing else. I didnt start a argument. Pern called me a idiot for posting my opinion on the forum, fare enough, her opinion I suppose and I didnt complain about that, yet to then have the blame put on me because a disagreement breaks out between others when it was originally was me and pern talking peacefully, well that seems less fair

I have stated my opinion, and it was all I wanted to do. Everyone has a free right to speak out and against me, and prehaps my views are a little strong on things, but I hold my opinions in high view along with those of Tempest. I was fed up of having not being able to say anything about staff when I myself see a problem, which a few others have explained the same point of view also; be it in pm, seperate ?chat or on the forum. I'll make one last defence upon this case with the limited time I have here before I must go. Blue you stated about the ER comment. Well actually your wrong, because I know the EXACT person, still actually on staff who asked myself what ER means. Now coming back to my quote 'This made me remember one quote someone said about staff people are players who suck and think by becoming staff they dont need skill.' Maybe I didnt explain this enough. I was referring to the fact some staff people come to staff because they arent very good in game, they are in fact quite poor, and do join staff to outreach themselves from this poor playing ability and feel a little more special because they have powers. Delic probably describes this situation better than I could, but still that is the feeling I have. Now the hitler thing; oh this one makes me laugh. I once said upon staff chat 'I think Hitler had the right idea' to see you all burst into flames, screaming and shouting, how fun it was to watch you react. Ok, Ive said some people I consider friends as good staffers, but the thing is thats because they are. Maverick is always friendly, hosts events for people and is a generally nice guy, Tempest= is a gentleman. Polite, friendly, and responsive in kinda terms. They are good staffers and good friends to have, but some others I listed I wouldnt call friends, I would barely call aquentences (sp?). Pernille for example; I dont speak to her that much, I consider her a little rude at times, and were not on the same levelof communication where meaning we dont speak well, we have nothing in common, we are 2 completly different individuals, and well I wouldnt we got on like a house on fire. Vile also, is very much like Pern in the levels of talking to for me. Yet some people are generally haters it seems to the wrong things. I have no new ideas, I have no agreements I want people to make. I'm a ER! I'm here to host and be friendly to pub people not invent new ship sets and screw around with pub a bit. Then the fact you call this flaming which I would refer this to structured critism because I refuse to post bad peoples name, I am trying to not put that much bad spotlight on a single person, and am just stating my views. Now the Javelin; a good hatred enemy of mine. Let me just point something out to you here Blue. At one point I COULDNT play Javelin because I sucked at it, didnt like the feel of it, couldnt kill, blah blah blah. I turned to my Lancaster (god bless that ship) and found it to be great fun, and I could control it well. Now over time I became better, and that reflected onto other ships, and well, i'm a average Javelin player now at least. I have a sub-account from which I used to play Javelin before my aol broadband. But the lag problem? YES there WAS a lag problem. My computer couldnt keep up with the Javelin. Fast moving, lots o' bullets in steady streams, etc. Ok ive got a -*BAD WORD*- computer, thats the reason for crap lag when your graphics card can only just handle continuum. Doesnt help when combined with 56K AOL. Onto NBVs post. The post of mine was made to not discriminate anyone to the best of my ability while getting my point across. A post is yours to look at and percieve as how you feel fit, and well yes you are right, that sounds like one -*BAD WORD*- of a mod to me (we thinking of someone different prehaps?) but the fact it is for other means, whichhave been told and alot of people (amazingly who have been fired from staff or suspended) see it or think it strongly to. Is it that obvious by the 'corrupt' staff people? Or maybe staff people dont want to say anything so they dont want to put their job on the line. Well i'm putting it on the line it seems by posting my opinion and talking about the things I feel I need to on the forum because no one else will listen, yet when it goes up in big words alot of people come to defend it. I told naedhaha this would piss alot of people off because they dont like truth, and people dont like my views and my opinion. That has been clearly seen, but thats not the point I suppose. I wont argue over the suspension, its happened now. I wont argue about this staffer needs to be sacked and this one promoted because ive explained my views and feel I dont need to critisize anymore. This will probably be one of the last times I say something in the 17th forum because everytime I post something contraversal which people dont like to think about with a open mind, they blam it until it falls into disarry. And that, is what has happened, once again! So. I end with this final comment. I'm paying for my opinions now in the form of a suspension. I'm paying for the problems it has caused when brought into staff chat by the same person who suspended me. Players and staffers of 17th. I'll continue hosting and being the best staff person I can be before the inevitable, but it seems I will have to keep my mouth shut in game, on forum and in ?chat if I want to do the thing I like doing which is trying to make 17th more fun to you than it currently is. -Röach

Ok to Tempest, and I must applaud upon his approach. This is one of the reasons why he is a staff person The !@#$%^&*le Best ER? Well, as you, and alot in 17th know, i'm a -*BAD WORD*-y bugger at the worst possible time, my signature about me being brilliant a obvious example to this, so the !@#$%^&*le Best ER is a little over exagerated, but still, I believe myself to be one of the better ER's in this zone, and one who cares about the players. I hope that clears up the reasoning behind that a little Tempest. Now about this team of ERs. Well I hardly see any ERs on bar naedhaha and Kentai, but anytime ive been on with other ERs they dont seem to take notice. Ive been on at one time with 4 ERs present and not one bothered to answer the call of ?host except myself after they decided to ignore it. Nice teamwork in ignoring I suppose. Now I understand this quote of yours 'If a new ER isn't as proficient as you are, then encourage and help him: don't scorn and pour abuse upon him' except there seems to be a problem here. Yes we have ERs who arent as experianced, yet there have been perfect examples when events have been mucked up, myself and naed have gone to the rescue, offering help (in a nice manner mind you) to have them refuse and the event screwed up that little bit more. Prehaps thats where the bitterness lies Tempest between the ERs? Could have a bonding session heh ^_^ And no the ER hosting isnt a compe!@#$%^&*ion, but it seems to be when ERs are racing to host instead of others because they want a promotion because they are 'ashamed' or 'fed up' of their ER tag! How disrespectful can you be by getting powers like that? Now you mention about who is the best ER when? Well from my knowledge most the ERs dont actually talk at all, but then again they dont host. naedhaha likes to play public, he interacts with the players, he has a laugh with them (maybe he is the best ER and I am not? I am willing to take that into consideration) and bragging i'm the best isnt the right thing to do prehaps, but as explained before i'm a humerous and -*BAD WORD*-y person, and well that runs strongly throughout me, thats why you see me doing the things I do when it comes to 'Best ER'. Now the staff greed... I have NO problem with mods doing what they should, in fact THEY SHOULD, but when certain Mods begin to backstab, snitch, and speak about others behind peoples back, create turmoil in the zone, listen in on things which prehaps shouldnt be said but yet shouldnt be listened to either, and are in fact hidden away in private between people, then would you consider it right if they spread this, they blackmail, they exploit, then cover it with good work, and when something goes wrong or not in their favour, run to the nearest upper staffer for support. Well then would you consider that good Tempest? I myself am against people who are like that, and thats where my description of that comes from. The reason being some Mods do this in a bid and hope they will get promoted (and we do have slots open last time I checked) so what better way they feel than sucking up? Maybe its needed but to do in it such a decietful way? Well, its your opinion that counts there. Also I wouldnt consider it unhealthy to despise some people, a bit of hate exists in everyone, and that in my belief makes us individual in our own right. I wouldnt class myself as a hater of people, but I do have a dislike for those who are idiots and fools, cant see that and yet carry on in a selfish manner. With the current population and attendence to the events, I can not see why you could not say it, although I understand it has less meaning compared to a ER in a place like Trench with bigger events and more people attending them. Also the notion about Mods. Yes they do it well, but like me referring to Tempest's post, we have some 'bad apples' in this staff which are in for personal greed in my opinion. And yes mods should teach ERs but I wouldnt class a ER as a person with no experiance in hosting. I would rather keep my !@#$%^&*le of Event Referee than be a Mod because it is events for the people of this zone I want to host for, yet it seems the respect level of staff upon the ERs is low, yet people talk about respect all around in staff. How can that be if everyone looks down upon the ERs who might have more experiance or be better than a Mod? In my thinking prehaps ERs should have the same respect and be treated like those in, although I dread to say it, Trench Wars, where there the staff are more accepting of the ER rank. Now you say about coming on staff for just respect is wrong, I agree upon that, Staff ISNT about respect from other staffers, it helps though yes, but the thing about respect is; * You need respect from the players. Without that they wont attend events and they wont agree to your hosting * Respect from the staff encourages and makes people feel better about hosting and being happy around others in staff and pub You need a equal amount of this 'Respect' to make you feel happy in staff and encourage you prehaps to host for people without much blamming. You need some respect but being staff shouldnt just be about that which one staffer is on for. Now I TOTALLY agree with you Delic on the 'most staffers arent players' passage. Its true, and you find that its only the ERs who really play out of the staff overall, and we have hired some who didnt play anyway. Ive played for a long while, naedhaha played along time in TW before moving to 17th for a little then becoming ER. There are people like yourself Delic who are players, and Tempest= is a common pub player also, and amazingly, we get the best results out of events and things we do because we were once players, and ok we dont play as much now with our staff responsibilities, but we have the insight quite a few dont. I dont want to turn this into anti-staff thread, but I feel I have to post a message on this! (Note: This is my OPINION so I dont get any ofyou staff people upon my back. Its in my views and what I see.) The problem about this thread is how can you say 17th staff is good at this moment in time 000? HOW! Name me something which have provided a huge break through in 17th lately? Ok over the years back when Zeke was in power he changed the ship settings, he promised only a trial period, in managed to kill 17th for a little while then yes it came back into population again, but who have we gained from this? Well we had about a year of people whining a little but nothing else, people wanted their old zone back, not this new industrial crap we got from that idiot Zeke, and now we have EVEN MORE complaints than we did before! Lasted a long time didnt it -.-' Ok so maybe I shouldnt touch the ship setting situation? well lets go onto the plans of the zone? well we have Vile and Pern talking quite alot about changing bounties, greens and all that stuff. Fair enough, but how about changing back to those old settings people want? Wait! D'oh >. but whys that make me the best ER? Because I host the events you want, not just events I dont like (like some staffers do...) which is why I even host javelin events (and I HATE the javelin). You see we have alot of ER's, amazingly, hardly any are active enough it seems to host events, let alone ones you really wanna play. And we have a ER who unable to host something as simple as race, wants to host as many events as possible so he can be promoted. Why? Because like he has said to us, he wants to be special like some of the others who became staff. Now i'm not calling all ER's crap, there are some who are quite good at their job like naedhaha. and i'm not saying i'm a brilliant hoster. I get things wrong, everyone makes mistakes, i'm trying to reduce them so I can become a better ER for you people, YET we have people who are in staff for the wrong reason, and we have staffers who are, quite frankly, idiots! So what do we do? Well we can praise some staffers who are actually well worth being in staff, we can praise those who are usless to staff to make htem more bigheaded, or we can ignore them like alot of people do now a days, but the point I want to get across in, staff shouldnt get praise, you wanna give praise? give it to inidividuals who are worth that praise! and if your thinking, maybe Roach wants some praise eh? Well nah, I'm doing the job I applied for and I dont need to be thanked by those the most important in this zone, prehaps it should be me praising you players who stay in this zone in its time of need. Because sysops are so easy to -*BAD WORD*- about because they have the most power in the zone. Who do you whine about when something goes wrong, the ER's? nope, the mods? not really, Smods? Not as fun, Sysops? Bingo! We all know many hate Vile, as did many hate Zeke (I still do for what he did to 17th) so it seems the most reasonable explanation on why we are blamming the senior staff.

You shouldnt dis the weasel unless you have playeed it. It has been blamed and put down by so many people, no one know the ingenious, and playability of it. It was fun! it wasnt uber, in fact it was very well balanced out.
