  1. I have talked to a friend about making an installer for me. It will generate a random default# username, ranging from default1 to default999999, and seed a random password. It will also have chat techhelp set by default, and will contain a slightly smaller, but more aimed zone list. Mostly zones that don't seem to constantly change servers, and have a few years in, as these will (as long as another sscx situation doesn't happen) not go red for a long time, no issues with someone dling the game and having 6 red zones right away. I also plan to replace the tips.dat (have it in there as tips2.dat) and have 1 message in it recommending them to which zones would be good for which style of gameplay they like. This may help get them caught from the beginning. It is all just in theory that it might help work. We've got all the regedits .40 made over .39, and will also make a patcher, rather then players who have yet to upgrade to .40 downloading the full, they only need a small patch download to get everything they need. Something we've lacked for many years now. This should help new players, and also make it easier for older players returning. That, and if you show we had a recent patch, it might give the appearance we do have development of the client. Granted we'd be lying, but they won't care/know for quite some time.
  2. Her* And maybe she could make the ports, "FAST SHIPPING, GREAT ITEMS, A++++"
  3. 2003 began the downfall*
  4. Well seeing as 5900 is the issue, or so it sounds, setting it to 5899, still makes 5900 an issue, as the zone would now use 5899 and 5900 rather than 5900 and 5901. Just my 2 cents.
  5. The SSC Firewall only blocks IPs. Zones all connect on the same port, so no worries there. Ports/Slots as they are called, are just scoreids/serverids that are password protected to allow control on who can connect. But knowing Priit, he has a firewall up on the SSCU/SSCX server. Probably allows all outgoing UDP traffic, and only allows it in on certain ports, IE why you can see 17th, but not connect. If you or mike have ftp, I'd change the port back to 5900, and just go from there for now. 17th didn't use to have issues on 5900 as I think that has been its port forever. But it may be the client priit is using for remote access interfering with it now, dunno. Your only hope is that Priit gets done with all his investment meetings long enough to check his e-mail and reply to Ghost, or realize something is up.
  6. Your on Priit's server. Have someone fire an e-mail off to him about it. Maybe hit up GS in game.
  7. http://blogs.moneycentral.msn.com/topstock...gger-s-job.aspx Well, Ebay sold a city, so could she run a state full of them? I dunno bout this one, another interesting race in the state of california I guess.

    right on.
  9. Repeating it to myself in a rhythm, and it eventually will stick. Never thought about it before honestly, but I do always seem to do that.
  10. Since as long as I can remember?
  11. If you read the entire story, they are installing them and wind turbines at some of the wal-marts to help reduce power consumption. And it is funny how everyone still thinks of them as having low wages, I thought the same until my mom moved from Sears to there as an ASM, and got a 24% pay increase, and she's on the low scale, was nearing max for her asm job at Sears. And not a single one of her workers makes less than $10.35/hr, compaired to min wage at sears. My aunt who is a district !@#$%^&*istant looked into my pay, 4 years experience in warehousing, and I could get on at almost 12/hr, 40hrs a week, set schedule, set 2 days off. Granted, I got a better offer coming my way at the moment, but I have put thought into it.
  12. root, so ignorant... listen... Being I have just as many, probably more friends who are girls, trust me, there isn't much different on the topics. Actually, funny enough, I can almost walk up to any girl and talk about something. Guys, as me and my buddy have both admitted, you gotta know them, or something they like. Girls, they're willing to talk about anything, that and many will talk your !@#$%^&* head off if you get em started on something they really like.
  13. It is no condition, but it is also not easily noticeable to the naked eye. A eye doctor can tell almost right away when looking at them close up, and if you really watch my irises open and close, you can tell they don't do it all evenly. Bout it really... ------------------------- Back to the subject... It is win win for them. Help enviroment, and save money. Doing anything enviromentally right actually saves money. Although in some cases you have to spend more to save it.
  14. Both, read: http://www.ssforum.net/index.php?showtopic=18832
  15. I think Ail is also wanting me to upgrade the rpg system.
  16. Sure, if you can find one. I haven't really played any games since I got my laptop, some COD4, but not much.
  17. Hynix is a brand that HP typically uses. Kingston is the only HP certified replacement brand I know of, so no doubt some sub-contract of theirs.
  18. I remember playing that on Gamecube. Was one of the 1st games of that type I actually liked.
  19. Sitting on my computer now.
  20. Seems the VRPG is still moving forward, new version soon. I did find fixes to a Bank bug, and the issue with the menu. Now when you goto the marketplace, etc. It will continue to load that menu, not the standard home menu it use to keep loading, and not allowing you to click on that menu again.
  21. Thursday, Jan 24th Arcade will be uninstalled. I plan to whipe it fully out of the database, and get rid of any old and unused tables from it. I will then install a newer version of the arcade, and change out a lot of the games. Some of the less played will be gone, and some newer ones added. I'd also like to update SS RPG, and see what is up with VRPG (may uninstall it if it has died as it seems, http://www.google.com/search?q=VRPG Result #6, kinda funny).
  22. Well, I find it funny that if your ip changes, the easiest way to do so, is delete and reinstall your adapter without a restart. Your macid doesn't get broadcasted to the zones, and you can go in freely. Kind of scary that something so simple, can get you around the only nature of bans we have.
  23. Now, you've all missed the most complete and obvious fact as to why this game is dying, and there is no bringing it back. 2007: Est 1.3 billion internet users 1997: Est 101 million internet users Now, the internet has changed derastically over the years. It has gone from geeks, a few lucky kids, and businesses, to the general populous. Our general user base has changed, and no longer do we have people who are more willing to interact together, go out and do something cause noone else it, and have one generalized thought be pretty well accepted. That is what helped subspace thrive went hundreds of fan sites, and all the sites use to work together. SSCentral, Subspace.net, and Downloads.Subspace.Net got together and brought what you have now, SSForum.net and SSDownloads.com. Sites use to have general ideas, and worked together to get everything done. This was the same with zones, leagues, squads, etc. There we're more people who understood the responsibility they had with having moderator powers in a zone, and what it meant having them. It wasn't just something thrown around, or a few hundred players a year got. If you had been a moderator, that was something unique, as zones rarely had to change them out. Now a days, even being a sysop of a ssc zone has little meaning anymore. The playerbase has changed, and the players no longer understand that they are playing a dying game, like we did. And we decided to step up, and not let it die, and do everything we could. And it wasn't just 1 or 2, or 10 like it is now, there we're hundreds, and they we're all making zones, working together on zones, and trying to help this game thrive. This is what really makes it hard for me to focus on SSCentral like I use to. Use to I could have a new design out on a site over night. Now, look, it's taken me over a year, just due to lack of time. I have no motivation to get it done quick, as all I see is a playerbase who no longer "cares" about the game they play, it really honestly makes me care less and less. I'm not aiming this at all of you here, cause obviously, I put a lot of time into SSForum, but the general playerbase of this game. One who expects everything to be done for them, and not to have to do much themselves. So really, COTFC is probably LONG gone, and will never be around to see the death of this game, as it has outlived any of our life expectancies. But really, if people don't start stepping up and stepping on other people who are stopping them from getting stuff done, I give us only a few more years before we are nothing more than a chat program with a game built in; one very few people play.
  24. There is the old irc servers for ss, and most still have pop/old players who idle in them.
