Its there so you can't just sit somewhere and let out streams of bouncing bombs. It takes some practice to handle the lanc properly. Its certainly good enough once the pilot has some experience. So i say leave it as it is now.

Well you're not in there now.. but my comment was exagerated. Its just the map thats in pub was the same one every veteran and even many ex-noobs got bored with a long time ago. It doesn't suit the gameplay because of the north base being there and the small soccer bases. The settings aren't compatible with the league ship which is what drags in people from all the other zones to play here. The settings are not easily used in leagues because there are too many cloakers and they are not balanced with the league jav. Those are the problems as i see them. My solution is in 17thpub2 atm. There might be some more minor changes to whats in there but thats 90% of what i feel will work better for us.

Well Akai what you talk off are minor map changes and we all know that any sort of change no matter how you think it might benefit the zone will annoy people. I want to see north base gone.. in fact the new map i've made does almost exactly what you've said but with new bases entirely. Its just that unless the rest of the map is changed aswell there is no point in doing it if it will just annoy people. The old sets have been tried and were even put back up at one point and have never caused an influx of new pubbers. I do agree that some of the old ships like the jav, terr and lanc were alot better than the current pub ships but the old sets never worked because of ships like the weasel, spider and warbird. Something i've made atm uses the best of the old and makes it more playable. My map and sets should be up in 17thpub2 so check them out. -EDIT- Also i think we all need to take a moment to look down our noses at talion! WTF man! lol

yeah i wisd i'd had some of those 40 tilesets to work with too. i know of one which everyone used for a new carryable flagging map which was turned down for pub (quite rightly) because it made us too similar to swr. All those other maps that were tried out were simply not good enough. I made most of them and after they were put up and tried out i agreed with most of the staff that they weren't right for 17th. The other ones were just too similar to what we already have. No-one has put together a map+settings that are good enough to be put up in pub. So atm we are quite rightly sticking with what we have until something better is made. I don't see any of you wanting to put in the work to make something great for pub. I agree they are to blame for letting bad changes happen. Like the sets that made pub and league into two seperate zones making neither set of players able to play both effectively. But Mike removed the pub jav and reinstated the league one in pub.. so they're not all bad.

MikeTheNose and Nurples only come to 17th about once a week.. they sit in spec, do very little and then leave. But to be honest we can't really blame them for not "turning this zone around". No-one has really put a NEW idea forward that they're willing to make themselves and show to nurps. Nurps hasn't got time to make all the ideas himself. He leaves that up to his staff. If anyones to blame its the whole staff for not coming up with ideas and putting them into action.

I can't name one upper staffer i dislike. i think all the bad ones are long rooted out.
