  1. Disclaimer. Even if one could wrongly assume this is an attack to one's person or the start of a flamewar, it's not. It's just a bunch of my opinions disguised as knock knock - jokes. It's here for entertaiment purposes only. News this week. In his futile fight in trying to make this zone more squadbased, our event coordinator created the Hyperspace Squad Dueling Tournament. This didn't turn out to be as horrible as I had betted, but became quite retarted anyway. In order for this thing to actually be called a tournament Timestrain had to be allowed to participate 3 times. Seems like D_claw has dropped out of the timestrain squad battle. I'm going to bet on timestrain to win. On a second note, why are there so many rules on this !@#$%^&* thing? Ok, i can remotely understand the whole e-mailing and posting portion, but you have Registration locks and roster locks too? harr harr, were you people afraid someone from timestrain was going to hop on timestrain? Btw, why does that even matter. I, for one was going to participate to this, but after seeing how user-friendly the process is I decided to have a beer and make fun of the whole thing. This issue was also brought up by the community as was the question "Why aren't people allowed to duel, even if they have no squad or are in a small squad?" these valid points were mostly disregarded or responded with "NAA NAA! I'M DOING IT MY WAY!" Btw. Please spam 24 lines of green notifying people when are these games going to be and wtf are you talking about. Everyone who cares can check the times on the forums. On to the next subject. After the HSDT turned out like it did, or is it still running? Anyway. Our event coordinator decided to make an example by creating his own squad, oppressors, which pretty much means disagreeable persons or unpleasant persons. Harr harr, I find that funny. Side-info: if you want to see who's in oppressors, check the HS's list for the richest people, they're the top 15, but I digress. They proceeded to create a private freq in a 10vs10 basing game. So, we got 6 players with imba-ships against 2 poorly equipped pubs who were flanking eachother. I'M NOT AGAINST THIS, but I find it funny how the self-claimed spokesperson of balancing the teams and ships (i'm not seriously going to put a link here, just listen to him for 5 minutes) REFUSED to setfreq the pubs to one big team so we could atleast hope to have a chance. Guess, he doesn't want to use his Mod powers when it would do some "balancing". This would only be funnier if we'd have a quote of him whining about privs, something like "Problem with basing is that generally the teams are fairly one sided for one reason or another", but with more crying. Speaking of the balancing of ships, you couldn't possibly play this zone without at some point hearing certain someone unleash his anti-shark fury. During one of these explosions I made the mistake of voicing my own opinion which was "Nerfing the recharge doesn't do anything". Of course this resulted in a pretty one sided e-fight where my opposition was rambling something about combined base shipstat totals and pointing out I didn't remember what the sharks recharge was couple of months ago. So, I lost that fight and I rephrase "Nerfing the recharge to 2000 will only make the shark slightly less overpowered, but still the best rushing ship" this is of course if people Don't listen to your pleas of getting cyclone back. This is contradicted by the things you say here You do contradict yourself alot, having a fit of rage towards me that nerfing the shark's recharge solves all the problems (btw, it's been nerfed slightly already, anyone noticed differences?) but then saying that I know for me personally, I dont care one bit that my recharge stop, I'll use my reps and bursts, and I'll still rush in just as hard and still be just as effective, it's not like I'll die a lot faster, only a little faster, I still have my energy. Now, I don't have any idea what are you doing anymore, but since you don't care that your recharge stops when rushing, why would a measly -200 on the recharge even matter? And because of this I assume I have won the bet and you owe me 10k. This concludes this months comedy corner, beware that all the insults you post to this thread will make you a subject of an nonsensical joke on the next one. Btw, If anyone has a screenshot of unix saying "The problem isn't the settings, it's the people", it would be a perfect punchline to the fact that he REFUSED to put the 7man pubs together to fight against his freq. trallallaa. Special note: 10vs10. Then 6 persons go make priv, that leaves 7 persons on each pub. Does it not?

    Defence. 1. It's the purpose of the system to put the good players to the sucky team, in order to create some balance. It follows this simple equation: If you win alot of flag games with high jp and many players = you get alot ot vps = you must be good then trying to balance the amount of good people in the freq. Either by placing 3 mediocre players to the opposing team for any good player on the other freq and/or balancing the amount of good people on both freqs. 2. The number of 0-10 VPs people are kept equal. It would be possible to jump on the good team, but it still would be harder to hop than it is now, because you don't know the amount of 0-10Vps players. And if someone actually goes through the trouble of creating a fake-nick and joining/speccing the game enought times to be placed on the winning team a bunch of times, because you can only give money when you have over 10k. They deserve to have the money.

  4. This is the same for disturblingly high percentage of the players. I haven't seen aceflier or distort playing in a lanc. Maybe if they would' date=' then we'd have more flaggames than the current one-a-day if someone is drunk enough to lanc. No one wants to win a flag game until the enemy team only has 2 newbs playing. Lancing is something you'll be expected to do for the nest 2-4 hours the milkfest is going on and if you don't you have !@#$%^&*load of people whining at you for "killing the game" yes' date=' it's possible against a totally inferior team. otherwise the slow bullet speed/slow bomb speed/no bouncy bombs combo will make you an easy prey against any noob shark.

  6. Why would you make lanc so ridicilously boring to play? It's the ship both freqs need in order to start a flagging game, which should be the main attraction and money maker of the zone. But instead of making the lancs anyhow FUN to play, you stubbornly kept your age-old idea of making the lancs big, fat, useless and most importantly absolutely boring to play. Their only use is to hide deep in the base to allow people to attach. Bull!@#$%^&*. Give the lancs something which make people want to play them. Make them able to kill something, please. NO ONE wants to play a ship that's only purpose is to hide to allow other people to play AND you don't even make money even if you do. I'm suprised that we still have a basing game or two in a day with these settings. That will last until the last people with lancs will just sell them in order to get to play.

    If you: - Prize people more energy removal greens to disable mining/shooting in the ID-tube. - Add minibases to most of the sectors (not all ^^) to create an use to basing ships too. Then I'm definedly for this. Shame I missed the event :/ Someone tell unix to host turf 24/7

    In my opinion, they will not m!@#$%^&*-spec if the teams are balanced enough to have hope of getting the flags back. I have seen it happen.

    How to theoretically make the teams balanced. The system uses new points you ac!@#$%^&*ulate by winning flag games. This is a hidden statistic eg. you can't see how much Vps do you have, to prevent abuse. When you win you're rewarded with 0-10xp. The xp you get seems to be decided by how many people are playing and how big the jp is. That xp isn't really worth anything, but that system is the base on how to give people value points. You runwin when there's 2 people playing = 0 Vp Big flag game with 30 people and 50k jackpot = 5 Vp Those with 0-10 value points are treated differently from others. The system tries to keep the amount of these players equal in both teams. So both teams have pretty much the same amount of new people. Then we have the pool for 11-100. The value points are totalled freqwise and then tried to keep even, by adding the incoming players to the weaker team vp wise. Most of the players should be in this pool. Ensuring that they can't reach over 100 vps we're going to have the vps drain away faster the more you have them (1 or 2 a day?) and make the vps increasingly harder to get - 0-25 = normal vp gain - 25-50 = 75% vp gain - 50-70 = 50% vp gain - 70-90 = 20% vp gain - 90-100 = 5% vp gain. Final pool is for the people who have over 100 vps. Again the number of these players on a freq are kept even. Only elite people or those who constantly win while lancing are on this category. The lanc will get a vp multiplier depending on how many people attached to him. eg. You lanc for an hour then your team wins = hundreds of attaches = 10x vp gain You lanc for 5 minutes then your team wins = some attaches = 1x vp gain When you join the game you'll be placed on freq x and the system checks your vps and determines how you will be placed then adds you to that team. If the system works like it should, then we could add something to decrease the jackpot when the teams are horribly uneven to encourage winning that !@#$%^&* and starting a new flag game, or in some rare cases you might see someone actually hop to the losing team. eg. other team has 7 players with total value point of 30 and the other team has 14 players and vp of 362. This is deemed as an unfair situation and the jp will start to go down. Only problem is that when a private freq is playing and the people are so lame to organize an entire public freq to spec to trigger that jp-removal thingy. GROAN AT WILL

    Easy. Everytime you win a flag game you get a Value point. Now the public team's value points must be somewhere near eachother, say in ~10% range. Now a good player leaves his nooby team to join the other good team, BUT !@#$%^&* you! he can't because the other teams value points are too high even though they have less players and the players that join the game are also placed to the team with the lower value points. Edit: Oh yeah. Lancs get extra Value points. Edit: And leech more money.
  16. People don't bother to win flag games, because the rewards are inferior to the money and exp you make just by flagging. Unless you runwin the jackpot money is only a tiny bonus. The real problem isn't the length of the game, but the fact that one team WILL get stacked to !@#$%^&* and they will proceed to destroy the enemy teams until they give up and leave. After the enemy team has left and there's nothing left to do, it's time to claim the jackpot. Then most players of this team will also leave. Removing bountying is a REALLY bad idea. Please, don't do that. I can't say what exactly would happen, but whatever happens is EVIL.
  17. Good news. The ?buy -c 10 ammo actually tries to buy 10 ammo and now if it doesn't succeed it buys the maxium ammo you can carry. This is exactly how I wished it would work. Thank you for changing this minor issue.
  18. Very long time ago, before ASSS wasn't even invented, Hyperspace had a neat little command called ?reload. This command was a cool idea. It instantly refilled all the items you could use on your ship to maxium. One little command could do that. Now, 3 years later, in order to get maxium items in our ships we have to do: - ?Buy gun ammo pack about 10 times - ?Buy bomb ammo pack about 10 times - ?Buy repel about 20 times - ?Buy burst about 20 times Before, anyone rarely needed the ?reload, because you got max items on spawn and ammo was infite. Now, that we actually have use for the command, it's removed. What's the logic in that? I find this very annoying and I miss my ?reload command. I don't want to have 4 different macros !@#$%^&*igned to spamming crap so I could play the game for whatever time it takes me to run out of ammo/items/fuel/energy/cosmic vibrations. Even though I'm completely against the ammo-system, which I think is annoying, I could live with it IF the server wouldn't silence me everytime I try to buy stuff. When I tried to voice my opinions on the chat. I got pretty much ignored, expect the mod who told me to use ?buy -c 8 gun ammo pack. To him I would like to say, you missed the point. I DO NOT want to go ?shipstatus, calculate how much ammo I require to get max ammo, BECAUSE I LOSE MY BOUNTY WHEN I BUY MORE ****, I WANT TO HAVE MAX AMMO. Then use the correct -c # command to buy that amount of ammo...for the gun then for the bomb then for the repels, then for the bursts then for the whatever extra stuff you have that I do not. WHAT I TRIED TO POINT OUT WAS that wouldn't it be nice to have 1 command which gets your ship refilled with all the stuff you need to play? Can't you see that it would only be more user-friendly to have such command? While I'm at it, maybe I should also point out that it's VERY annoying to lose all your bounty when you buy more ammo. I have no idea why the ammo system was implemented in the first place, as far as I can see it's only added realism at the cost of fun. What would it destroy to have 1 little NON-SAFED ammo store at the center, something which I could use to buy ammo without getting my extra money taken away when I forget to spam my ?buy **** macros. If your purpose was to ensure NO ONE EVER got over 200 bounty to enjoy TRIPLE killing rewards, boo-hoo. Then it works. Finally I would like to thank the only friendly soul in Hyperspace who took the time and effort to explain to me that you could use the | symbol to chain up 5 commands in one macro. Which cuts the required spamming by %. Now I don't have to be silenced for a minute EVERY HALF A MINUTE I play the game, woo-yea! I still think ?reload command should be brought back.

Isn't that how the life goes? I, for one, would love a little more fast paced flag games. Currently it takes 15minutes to move an inch in the base, because of the bricks. Little more challenge never hurt anyone. Doom is again whining about antideath! Who uses rockets in base? O_o

  21. I would like to point out that Sound Is a reshipper and deserves to be netbanned for life. Obviously you can have unlimited reps, which'll make your ship immortal, as if i couldn't sit in safety. I also could have unlimited decoys, but they're useless! I could use my unlimited bricks, portals and thors, But it'll wipeout my bounty, so i'm not getting any money out of it! anything lower than $10 is not money. In base people rather spend all their utilities and die, because it's much more simpler and you can utilize antideath that way. Conclusion Only reason people reship is to either thor storm a flagger. reship for reps. Or to piss YOU off. And it worked quite fine.
  22. Antideath whine - Ignored. I totally agree with the bricks though. Too many of them, and too many of reps also. Concealed antideath whine in this paragraph - Ignored. Wallbombing whine - Totally ignored. Stay away from the walls idiot. You can't shoot thors from sector 8 to the traswarp hub. However, you can shoot bullets in there. Just go sit between the green tiles and rotate 45 degrees. With bounce + multi you can cover the whole tw with bullets and when the random guy with flags appears, he will get hit. Just have a friend or portal hanging around outside the hub, problem solved. Sidenote: If the guy is pretty much in the center of the hub when getting hit by bullets, the flags will eat couple of the safety tiles, which'll create very efficient turreting space. Last whine - Something about kids, balls and decicions. Sounded too perverted, i had to ignore that too.

  24. And before we even start thinking about coding some module to prevent some random dude to rehip for thors. 1- Reship for repels. DOH DOH DOH, why is everyone so retarted. 2-There's MUCH more important things the coders should attend to, for example server stability or 65535-bounty-warp-anywhere bug. 3-Reshipping takes away your bounty, which takes away most of the money you'll make. So the only guys to reship for thor in center would be rec'ers. But levi laming is far more effective way. THUS, i can't see why anyone would even think about reshipping for thors in center. 4-I didn't even bother to read your other post, but you seriously whine too much.
