Just for research's sake I revived my old EG nick and entered hyperspace for 15 minutes as a newb just to see what's going on. To simulate this I smoked 2 joints and drink a bottle of vodka. Suprisingly my typing skills still remained intact (50 proof readings). To the story. When I was in spec and asked "uh, how can i play?" I got responded with couple of people talking about anime. After 5 mins I though it'd be time to try this !@#$%^&* out. After I went 3-24 with my wb my pleas of "how can i get yellow bullets?" were answered! Astyanax helped me out a lot when I was trying to simulate a noob. He told me how to buy stuff and so on. He even tried to explain the experience thingy to me, which I had no clue how it worked because I was a noob and didn't know !@#$%^&*. Many of the following questions on what should I buy, how do i get prox bombs, why is this guy pwning me were answered by "> u just suck". Not by Astyanax, but by another fellas playing HS in my team. In the 15 minutes I wasted in this research I gained "You have $6491 in your account and 114 experience." + pulse laser and power strip and a rec of 19-41 ($5000 of which was given me by Astyanax to help me out). If I really was a visitor from another zone, just starting this one, I would've quitted by now, because certainly I did not have fun. Edit2: No, I do not mean to let new people to have enough money/exp to buy the "best items" in every slot possible, but c'mon give them enough starting funds to buy Esper + carnot and pulse so they can kill something for godsakes. I think it's quite sad. Because the event coordinator idea was good, but the implemention sucked. Which might be why people think that the whole event coordinator idea sucked. If you're ever trying this out again consider the following. 1 - You state the prizes and they should be good enough that people will go "hoolly !@#$%^&*, I want to win that." It's not hard to think such a thing. 300k for win? yes, I'd like to win that. It doesn't cripple the economy, it's just one antideath and some extra popsickles and everyone has antideath already. 2 - You make the event free for all. Yes, when there is actual demand for squad based leagues, then be my guest. You don't make the zone squadbased with events, when there's enough people hanging around they'll make some squads on their own. 3 - No goddamm roster-things and email verifications and other complications like that. One reply to the correct thread that states your in-game-name should be enough. You have ?alias and seriously, how many people do you expect to participate. 50 is max and out of those there's going to be 10 names you haven't seen before. Not a big deal to alias them? When we have leagues of trenchwars magnitude, then you can make some verification systems. 4 - The tourneys should be hosted in a arena with it's own shipsets. ?go events has a different shipset, why not make ?go wbtourney that would have all the other ships without guns and the wbs would start with stats the same as if you had eg. pulse, harpy, ion, compression, maxwell, powerstrip and inertial in the public. Items are predefined and are the same for everyone. More people will want to play if you remove the "naah, the rich !@#$%^&* will just pwn me with their pimped out ships" thing. It'll be ..fair? 4.5 - This will also remove all the hassle you're GOING to have if you proceed with the current way of checking people's (or peoples' ?) items and then removing the illegall ones and granting the legitimate ones they have chosen in their e-mail and then back again. 4.75 - This will also annoy d1st0rt, he has to figure out the numbers to make such sub-arena. Harr harr. 5 - Everyone should get to have 1 portal per death in dueling tourneys, because portals lead to ninja-tricks and they're always fun to watch. 6 - Give me money

So basically the roster lock just took place on hsdtldt and oppressors were the only ones to sign up. This means they win by default and are awarded cash prizes. WTF. Yeah that happens to me too. One time I accidentally used the 65k-bounty-bug and then accidentally decided to kill some people to abuse it and I never even noticed the whole thing! lolol!1:D
