If you want to use SSH with windows, look into the small little program called Putty. You just log into the server and do whatever you need to do.

hmm, I'm outta ideas if a flash drive doesn't work. It's very odd that CDs are not working. Does it give you a specific error code? Like I said earlier, this is sounding like hardware problems as there should not be problems reading from a CD at that stage. Is the laptop on warrenty still?

Do you have a flash drive/USB key/whatever people call it these days? That's more along the lines I meant. Also, did you make sure that your BIOS is set to boot from USB? and that it has higher priority than IDE and what not? (may not need to set the priority part, but coudln't hurt!) make sure to undo this afterwards too >.> <.<

I'm sneaky like that ^_^ And yes, a more detailed description would be nice. Does it load the splash screen (the big red blob that says continuum)? Does it even get to loading the (mind blank not sure what to call it) main screen where you can select zones and such? If it does not, does it show up in your task manager? (ctrl+alt+delete, go to processes tab and sort by Image Name). Also, are you running Windows XP or Vista?

Here is what I really think will help you. Ask for specific help. Now I may be wrong, but just asking for "help" is too general. Help with what? Say what you are looking for. Are you looking for zone staff? map designers? map tilers? bot coders? graphics? ship configs? testers? Be specific in what you are looking for. It can also help you focus on getting certain tasks done. And don't just say yes to all =P Think of what you need help with to get just one more thing done.

Never saw the part about CDs not working period. In theory, you could do the same off of a flash drive. You'd just have to tell the comp in the BIOS to boot from USB and give it high priority. You could try any of the cd ISOs. But really, this sounds like hardware problems.

Prolly the best to use is going to be Knoppix. You can have a Knoppix Live CD in which nothing will need to be installed. The thing I am not sure about is replacing files. It's trivial to look at, copy, and use files in this way since you'll have access to the Windows par!@#$%^&*ion, but I am not sure how replacing files will work. The install and use of should also be pretty simple. It's not something I have done recently at all. You might look at the FAQs on those two sites. If not, I am sure there are some more linux oriented people here than me.

I like how these forums look, but it sounds like the admin abilities of vBulletin are nice. If you can get vBulletin to look like how this forum is, then it would be good. Remember condensed can feel cramped as well which is the feeling I get from the few vBulletins I have seen.

Not to butt heads here, but from Brains post I did not think he was confusing those terms at all. As an atheist denies the existance of supreme beings.
