  1. More importantly: Is it free or are you expecting to leech money from us? Secondly, what kind of system can run it? My machine isn't the powerhouse it once was and can no longer keep up with the latest games. Finally, I think that regardless of how good it is, you're over-hyping it. You're going to be disappointed when a bunch of players bash it both on these forums and yours. I'm not saying that everyone is going to hate it, just that I know these players well enough to know that they'll piss and moan about the slightest detail, so don't get your hopes up for a smooth "release" if it involves Subspace players.
  2. Blocks, you beat me to the exact line I was going to type. EV was fun as !@#$%^&* too -- So much so that I've been trying to convince Dr. Brain to let me implement the ship building mechanics of EV into HS. I think now that he's married, I'll be able to finally push him over the edge. Yay me. Yay EV.
  3. No one's complaining about an update. What we have is one group saying "You should be grateful that anything was done", another group saying "These updates aren't exciting", Chambahs saying "This !@#$%^&* is cheat proof, yo" and the general population saying "Great, another download for nothing." It's not that anyone's ungrateful, it's that most of us don't care about this update. Considering someone in the community has the source to the game and the only things we can get done with it is an anti-cheat update every 3 years -- why should we care? Cheating in this game has basically been reduced to memory scanning/editing anyway. And since there are several ways to byp!@#$%^&* it already (even with the new updates), it's only a matter of time before the script kiddies using CE figure out how to do it. Then what? We're right back to square one, waiting for the holy one to bless us with another "zomg no more cheetz" update. The general population doesn't cheat. The general population doesn't even deal with cheaters. The general population wants new features and new stuff to play with. Instead, they get a 3-5mb download so cheating can be stopped for a few weeks. Why should we all get excited about that again? So far, Hakaku has the best post in this thread:
  4. Indeed. There will never be a fully secured client in this game, simply due to how it's designed. This update is nice and all, but that doesn't mean we're going to enter the golden age of SS where cheating is non-existent. At the very least, you'll still have your Sikas and Chambaii.
  5. I'd rather have it the other way around, where using afterburners slows you down. Either way though, the end result would be something similar to semiwarp where people would be skipping around and irritating as !@#$%^&* to hit.

    changelog

08-11-2007 ?summon no longer works when the player doing the summoning is dead. Added command ?antisummon. Toggles on/off; prevents people from summoning you while enabled. ID destination is now randomized within a fixed region.
  10. Uhh? did you not read my post?
  11. 1) Pulse is more of a centering/offensive weapon than defensive one. Defense requires you deal damage while maintaining energy to sustain damage -- Beam Array is a clear winner in that catagory. 2) Nothing is wrong with MOAB. It's designed for wall bombing and dealing lots of splash damage quickly. It's great for picking off defenders in a base who are huddled up in a corner. 3) You used to be able to get those on a lanc... and it sucked.
  12. Indeed. This is like the 3rd or 4th time the public has been informed about an official 0.39 release -- I can only imagine how many announcements were private. I'd rather give some hopeful player the joy of saying "nyah nyah, told you so" than get my hopes up about 0.39 vaporware.
  13. The Zone and SortListener classes are missing from the repository. ...not that it mattered any, I was able to finish the modification without them. http://hybrid.shanky.com/misc/Chatnut.jar Same as the signed version posted by brain except it's not signed and URLs are highlighted and clickable. Enjoy. Update: The textbox no longer auto-scrolls if you're not at the bottom of the window.

For that you'd want to use CSLP
  15. Not to be confused with MGS+, which is RC 1223.

    HS stat parser

About a week ago I posted a link to a stats.txt page containing my history in HS. Well, since I've nothing better to do with it at this point, I've decided to release it to my adoring public. You can download the source and precompiled classes by clicking here. How to use -First, make sure you have Java 6 installed (You can probably use a different version if you compile it yourself). -Open a new command window and browse to the directory containing the HSMoney.class file -Enter the command "java HSMoney". This will parse "session.log" in your continuum's log directory. ** -To write the output to a file rather than the command window, use the command "java HSMoney > stats.txt". How it works This little program runs through the log you give it and attempts to parse out the reward lines commonly seen throughout your HS sessions. Needless to say, you need to start using ?log to be able to use this program to generate stats. ** If you want to parse a different file, you can specify it by using the command "java HSMoney LOGTOPARSE", where LOGTOPARSE represents the path and name of the log file to parse. Remember: if there are spaces in the path, you must enclose it in quotes. Enjoy.
  17. It's been scientifically proven that people with purple hair love the !@#$%^&*.
  18. God!@#$%^&*it Attraction, get your pretend !@#$%^&* in line and stop letting her derail our thread.
  19. A final note: No one got 300 kills with bounty rabbit. Maybe 30, but certainly not 300.
  20. Brain... in the words of scar: PUT IT IN THE BUTT!
  21. S!@#$%^&*, I'm going to print out a copy of your map, poop on it, then fax it back to you. Jerk =(
  22. @Falco: Regarding the 6 out of 1000 thing being common -- Think about how many people exist on the planet, then how many of those people know of this specific test, then how many of THOSE people have actually taken it. 6 people of a sample of the sub-sub-sub-set of all people have the same "skills" I do. There's a whole lot of unknowns in there which make me believe it is a gross underestimation. Also, it seems to be a fairly generic line in all of the profiles, which gives it even less weight. @Everyone regarding this as anything other than entertainment: Real IQ tests are designed to measure your level of knowledge against the expected level of knowledge of others in your age/culture group. Further, there are different parts to the test; each focusing on a problems that (in theory) require a different style of problem solving/general knowledge. So, when you have a watered down test like this that all of us take, the score can't be very accurate. These are meant entirely for entertainment purposes -- I hope no one takes these and suddenly gets all smug for being rated in the "genius" category.
  23. The younger you are (or put in for your age), the higher your "IQ" will be. These online IQ tests are mostly BS because they're generic one-set tests -- in a real IQ test, none of us would score near what we did. Anyway... "Only" 6 out of 1000? Considering the current population count, that's actually fairly common...
  24. You don't play enough to hunt. Also, I will stab you.
