I believe in a basic human right sense, that everyone should be able to lookout for his or her own safety and health so long as others are not affected. E.X.: You can't drive drunk, because it may hurt others and you are impaired and can't think for your own safety. But you can smoke if you like, because it only harms yourself (killing you slowly), and secondhand smoke I guess if someone stands too close, but that's why you can't smoke in certain places in the city around here. I think if the healthcare is mandatory, it should only be for children and low income (for those who elect to have it). Everyone should have a choice regarding their own health and needs. A child shouldn't have to be sick and go without medical help if he/she needs it, but a grown man/woman shouldn't be told they have to pay for healthcare when he/she never gets sick or would rather pay out of pocket. It's a step away from freedom, though it's a small step, I think we've all heard, "One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." It's a giant leap into socialism. Yeah government healthcare would be nice, for some people. America is all about freedom to make your own decisions, live the American dream, start your own business. If anything it hurts many people's dreams of doing all this. I don't want the local hooker to be able to get abortions simply because she/it can't keep her/its legs closed. Fuck a woman's right to do w/e to her body, if you can get two counts of murder for killing a pregnant woman then the baby is alive and human just like anyone else, if you disagree, then no double counts of murder. Be fair. I don't like the idea of people relying on the government (haha I know right) even more. It will probably be a lot more paperwork, filling out the same paperwork over and over. I've worked for the government and I know how it goes. I have absolutely no money until I get started at Lowe's. I know I wouldn't be able to afford healthcare unless it was given to me free by the government, but I really don't want their help. My state refused to give me unemployment because I have 2 classes (I am not a fulltime student) Their policy clearly states (EVERYWHERE) that FULL-TIME students can't receive benefits. Anyone at my school can tell you I am not a full-time student, but the supervisor at unemployment says it doesn't matter, I'm in school. I proved to them I have and can work full-time hours. Just more government BS. I don't think healthcare is here for the right reasons. If it was just about healthcare and helping people, the bill wouldn't include all these democratic motives. It would be a lot more neutral and both parties would have found a common ground. Americans would be happy that way. I know it wouldn't be as black and white, but there would be a lot more gray. I'm still debating on which country I plan on moving to. Any suggestions? Australia is pretty isolated plus they have kangaroos!!!
