Omnomnom's Newbie Guide to Hyperspace
spittnacid replied to omnomnom's topic in Strategy & Player Guides
This is a great guide, really helps me out, hopefully others. Thx! -
Just change the sell price for nerfed items so ppl can just get their money back and stop bitching. Btw thanks for the improved glow cover, helps me stay alive alittle longer XD

Lancing is boring, that's why i never do it, that and getting yelled at for dying, ef that noise. My issues with lancing is slooooooow rotation, bullets go like 2 inches out. I say make them more functional so they are not a hassle to play, keep them strong but somehow only allow 1 lanc per freq and allow a voting system to prevent a bad lancer from ruining the freq.

Vanilla is a simple refreshing change but it is not the best. The best ice cream EVER and everyone but you will agree is Pistachio. Well maybe people with nut allergies will disagree but it's not their fault. Even then I bet most with only minor sensitivity would muster through swollen lips or throat just to taste that delicious nutty goodness. I'm mildly allergic to avocado but that doesn't stop me from eating it because it is so yummy. In fact, my reactions to it have gotten milder and milder through the years. I'm still sensitive to bananas but I don't like them very much anyways so there is no love loss. Since we are on the topic of vanilla though, do you prefer regular or vanilla bean? I much like vanilla bean of the regular when I do want a simple ice cream. Now for something more relevant to the game, someone mentioned potions. I think this is a great idea but how would a heat potion work? I was thinking maybe a potion of antifreeze or an engine oil elixir, that's assuming that we still use gas in the future, unfortunetly "subspace lore" doesn't make mention of it. Also what about a fireball spell? That would be awesome!!

if mapping is an art than the artists does what he wants ultimately. He can be inspired by others and that's different than taking orders to do something a particular way. Ppl that get butt hurt and complain are as egotistical as those they perceive as being egotistical because you're blaming them for not doing what you want, suggesting that you know what's right. Just make suggestions and leave it at that. Spidernl could probably do himself a favor and just not respond back with a rebutle(sic) and just say "thanks for the input".

Ive liked this idea since hearing about it but I don't think it should effect movement. All heat needs to do is make weapons usage separate from taking damage. Energy should be used as Hit points(hull integrity), Shields for absorbing damage and heat for weapons usage. If damaged your shields go down and once depleted than you start taking energy/hull damage. Shields recharge but only after a set amount of time of not taking damage (kinda like in halo). Energy/Hull integrity recharges much much slower, think of it as the ship taking physical damage and needs to be repaired over a longer period. Than you have heat for your weapons. Also if possible and to make it more realistic, if you take enough hull damage than you lose systems if you have them, radar, map visibility, cloaking. This way it simulated a ship taking damage and losing functionality. Of course once the hull is repaired you get your systems back online. I don't know if there is a way to manage this by disabling a players items temporarily. Maybe it might help if you have a ton of ideas to get a few players you can trust to make decent decisions and preferably some coding experience even if not in C(but understands the basic concepts) to help you narrow down and organize the item set and brainstorm ideas on how to implement them. This way it's still all your ideas and you just have ppl to pick through it and suggest way of implementing it.

Pixel graphics are hard to work with hence why you have to start huge and scale down... no real way to scale up without it being pixelated or blurry that's why im doing 3d models not just for a more 3D look and proper lighting.

Bringing back the thrills of runwinning, sneaking-cloaks into base, etc....

You nerds are going off topic lol -
Lol you know when i was messing with you yesterday about the recycling? I was also messing around drawing that. IDK I was just in a mischievous mood yesterday. The design is not for real. The REAL redisgn is still in Maya being worked on. I next got to figure out proper texture wrapping, animate the 360 rotation, render and compile the png etc etc. So I AM working on something, just gonna take some time. I do however want to, in the future, redesign ALL the graphics with a pixelated look. I know its graphical regression but I love pixel art and think it would be fun for my portfolio. https://www.dropbox.com/s/fbev54mi1173dwf/warbirdwip1.png

I think the disconnect between centering and the bases is obviously the tunnels and how its sectioned off. Its such a pain unless you have items, to get from center back to base. i forgot what zone I was in along time ago, but i played a flagging zone that was a wide open map with bases spread out all over. This allowed for very fierce constant fire fights and promoted base jumping (I think a very fun and thrilling aspect this zone can have but doesn't because its just not easily accessible). This would also be neat with private flag freqs.

Bringing back the thrills of runwinning, sneaking-cloaks into base, etc....
spittnacid replied to Arry's topic in Hyperspace
I agree with that rush hehe and its kind of a buzzkill when you are half way through the base and someone obviously notices you cos they have tach. What if cloak were a sig and only cloaked ships could see other cloaked ships? If you fire you still drop out of cloak but you no longer can see other cloaked ships. Kind of a dimensional shift that energy weapons disrupt throwing you back into the the normal dimension. Kind of a cat and mouse game which would be very thrilling imo. Oh yeah a cool down on the cloak so someone doesnt just spam Ctrl, Shift+Home over and over. -
Im new to the zone (Not Subspace!) so I don't know anyone really but my interactions thus far with Spider have been pleasant if not suprising (from reading all the hate) but I guess that's why you take ppl's opinions into account but not form YOUR opinion based on them unless your experiences are similar. He's shut down my ideas before but we've also came up with workarounds on other things. Maybe ppl just don't try to communicate properly. If you have an idea that your passionate about, not just willy nilly, and you get shot down, than come up with a logical reasoning and see about a compromise. I don't think he just shoots down ideas cos he doesn't want to implement them. I have a feeling someone's going to come back and say that they've tried to reason and got nowhere, well I can't really comment unless I were privy to the details, however I do see tons of suggestions with no explainations or retort other than complaining that he doesn't listen.

Why large jumps in newbie population are bad for the zone...
spittnacid replied to Arry's topic in Hyperspace
They're sure fun to kill though... kinda embarrassing when you get killed by one though lol I'm not making excuses for them but i think the reason why they're so needy and cant read is because all the other games they play don't require typing other than to send a chat ingame. I'm for a GUI cos quite honestly I'm too lazy to type. I'm here to play a game, if I wanna type alot of stuff I'll open up notepad. Old players are like old people in RL, they can't handle change. Maybe the population is dying cos the players are dying... FOR REAL! lol I'm just kidding. -
He has to have some quality control of what goes into the server. It sounds like you're bitter because you couldn't cut the mustard. Also, who are you to rate my intelligence? Maybe you should get to know someone before going aggro on them because you don't agree with their opinion. You should step away from the rectangular frame in front of you that you call your life and go out and enjoy some fresh air. Maybe then you wouldn't rage so much.

I agree but no point in doing something for ppl that wouldn't want it... kinda a waste other than it being in my portfolio. Well with that said I'm not saying I am and not saying I'm not, as there are too many talkers and not enough doers in every gaming community I've been in, but I thank you for all the advice.
