I dont like bases where there are doorways that are the same width as a lanc. When lancing i first try to let my team keep me alive, if that is not working i shoot, if that is not working i run. The bases with the tiny doors trap me and i cant run. Please make doorways at least 1 lanc + 1 shark wide.

I tried clicking the 'Require Msg Key' checkbox on the profile. It works, typing on keyboard will not start any messages unless the msg button is pressed. Anyone know a way of mapping multiple keys to msg? ex have: space, backslash, question mark, colon, semicolon, quote, double quote all start messages? It will take me a while to get used to typing // for group messages and ?flag. Maybe I will start using the ' for group messages, never did adopt that, still use //.

The initial keyboard setup for subspace was made for those old huge 101 key keyboards. Todays keyboards are not normally set up the same. I play ss mostly on a laptop which has keys all over the place and no breaks between f-keys. After trying the default way for a while i decided to remap my keyboard. I found it to be much more comfortable on the wrists and easier to play. In your subspace profile screen there are 3 buttons below the window option. Zones, Macros and Key Defs. These edit text files in your ss dir to set up keys/macros. I have updated my keys to j=left, k=down, l=right, i=up, f=bullet, d=bomb, e=mine, r=burst, t=/?attach, g=?field, s=thrust, a=repel, w=rocket, q=thor, z=aw, x=xradar, c=cloak, v=decoy (would be stealth but hs does not use stealth), b=brick, p=portal, P=warp. To do this click the 'Key Defs' button, click on the item you want to change and push the button you want mapped. I have Msg mapped to space to avoid the red confilcts. Other than avoiding conflicts mapping msg does nothing, if i hit non mapped key other than space it still starts a message, i wish it would only start message after hitting space. For lancing I tried to macro everything i may possibily say during a flag game to macros. I moved all the f-keys to shift-alpha keys. To do this need to edit the keyboard map and assign to all the macro boxes, then go into macros and type the text you want for each button. ex z='//who has anti warp on?', x='//x', a=antideath msg etc... If you still use the default keys, give remapping a try. I am a 16 year ss vet and got used to the new keys within a month. Only downside of remapping is if you are typing a message, or happen to hit a key you do not have mapped, you are dead in the water until you backspace all the chars out of the message line. Right, i am not saying do away with turrets, just to let player decide if he will allow them or not on his lanc. I know about the f7 key, i have it shortcutted as T. I hit is so often i should take out the and make it a regular key. Right now T is attach (/?attach) and T is boot (f7).

I propose a new ?antiturret command. The player with a lanc could type ?antiturret to toggle the antiturret flag, when set make attaching to thier lanc the same as attaching to a spider where attaching ships are deployed but never actually turret. I am tired of kicking people off and saying i am not a tank, and dont ride me. The other day i was doing a rush and got a turret at a bad time, could not negoiate a corner and died. not sure if rush would have been successful or not but was a downer that it died because i could not round the corner.

I think having all 30 or so item types from the database listed would be good and make sense, at least it would to me. It will be no less confusing than shipstatus -v. It may take some time to figure it all out but it will give me somthing else to do. hyperspace is built around the item type, there should be a display by itemtype. Nicely written, It is good to know what your strengths are and play to them. I dont use my terr much because i can never figure out what it is good at. btw, the lanc is not the fastest ship. Lanc is good with energy and recharge.- 3 replies

Today in hyperspace there is no way to find out if your ship is maxed out or not, or if you are missing an item. I think there should be a ?shipstatus -c that would show you the current capacity of your ship. It would basically be the same thing as ?shipstatus is today but the first and last columns would be reversed and there would be a new max column. Also it would show all types, if you have items or not. ex Item Type | Count | Max | Item Names Supplement | 2 | 2 | Induction Grid, Parallel Relay Gun | 1 | 1 | Pulse Laser Protection | 1 | 1 | Aphasic Plating FTL | 0 | 1 | ??? | 0 | 1 | Signature | 0 | 1 | etc....

I rather have an epic flag game than an easy win. Easy wins give you money and are boring, I would rather ball. epic flag games are fun win or loose. Last night we had an epic flag game going, teams were slugging it out, had experianced and newbies on both sides, newbies making mistakes causing turnovers. It was great. Nearing a turn over Sri started telling everyone to regroup, which was the right thing to do, not many listened (being new and all). He then got mad and and started calling his teammates horrible. After the turnover he said 'f this i quit' - then rage quit. Then the rest of the team rage quit and killed the epic game. After i complained he did come back (there is hope for sri), but it was to late at this point. 2 nights ago gogan and i started a game and kept 1 flag till it game got to epic proportions. During game flags were changing hands and everyone having good time. At one point other team got 8 flags and sri made them rebase instead of winning in current base, It killed the epic flag game. We still had flags dropped and we sat and waited for 10 mintues (soo boring). eventually we attacked them to avoid the boredom, they leaked our flags and did a quick win. 3 nights ago flag game started and like it does many times 7 people got on 1 freq and 4 people on the other. Sri was part of team with 7. I messaged right away that the evener was broken and needed people to hop. Sri responded why would i do that!? Sri is a good player, but in my opinion not a good mod. A good mod does things to extend flag games and make sure everyone is having fun. Sri does things for Sri first, zone is an after thought. Sri needs some coaching.

I think hyperspace needs a team evener. Somtimes out of bad luck or some bug when a flag game starts 7 people will be placed on one team while 4 are on the other. This makes for a fast boring flag game. Also when flag teams are uneven at the end of a flag game teams go for a quick win before the other freq gets any players. During games people also have to leave for real life things which leaves holes. The zone needs a team evener that trys to do 2 things. Keep even number of players on teams, and keep even exp on teams. I think there should be a 10 minute timer that is reset at the end of every flag game and also reset when ever a player types ?flag. Until a player reaches the 10 mintue timer they are game for the automatic evener. Every mintue the system checkes the flag teams, if they are uneven make them even by moving players so teams have same number of people and experiance. Once a person is moved 5 minutes is added to his timer to help him from being moved again. Immunity from the evener should be given to the player who was attached to the most times in the past minute (so the evener does not remove the team anchor). May also make a case that people with flags are immune but i think this would be abused, I vote for just neuting the flags and have player swap teams.
