Me and veg had a long talk and actually broke down my computer wattage and everything lol, ill be leaving my PC on.

Was thinking. My previous post, shows how awesome my phone is now that it can be directly connected to my computer. But, I just noticed, I really dont want my computer to be on 24/7. Lol, my light bill will shoot up. Anyone know of a way, where I can keep my computer in standby mode, and have it so I can wake up my computer through my phone as well? Heres how gmote works: Download/install server to your comp, enter the IP of your comp on phone, set password, and it connected as the phone being the client. But the thing is, if the computer is in standby mode, the server wont be online, therefor, not letting my connect to my computer. I can make it so my power scheme lets my network stay online, but I cant figure out a way to make it so standby mode doesnt actually pause the processes. Even if there was a possible way to add an exception list somewhere, it would help. If I could get my computer to standby or hibernate, and at the same time, leave it so my internet stays connected and at least 1 program (gmote) process doesnt get paused, then I think it would be totally possible to have my computer be accessable when need be. I KNOW I can create a standby application to make my computer ENTER standby mode with my phone, the only problem is waking it up. I searched the web, and so far I only found a bunch of applications that let you wake up computers that are on the same LAN. Ive also found programs that you can actually wake up computers through IP/MacID, but its just backwards as far as I need it to be on the client vs server side. (You can wake up other computers, from your computer. Theres no way to actually get that program on my phone.) I figured the only possible way I can accomplish this, is either through a web browser, or I can get the VPN application for my phone and somehow use that. The only problem is finding out HOW to use my resources to get what I need accomplished, any ideas? EDIT: I hope you offer to make something awesome drake

Just downloaded Gmote for my G1 phone. God, you cant get much more fucking awesome than this. What it does: Lets you control your home computer files from your phone. So, lets say your in bed, watching a movie, and you've got someone sleeping next to you and you dont wanna get outta bed and wake em up? No problem, grab your phone and turn off the movie. While your at it, lower the volume on your speakers, and turn on some music. Better yet, shut down the computer by using your touch-screen phone to control the fucking mouse on your computer. Too lazy to take your 1gig micro sd card and load it up with songs to play on your phone? No fucking problem, connect your phone to your computer and stream music from your music folders. Feel like being awesome? On your way home from work, why dont you just start a movie, so when you walk in the door, the 5 minutes of the opening credits is through playing and you can get right to the movie. Having a party with your computer speakers hooked up around your house like me? Dont feel like leaving the room because a shitty song comes on? No problem, shuffle/switch your songs straight from your phone. Incoming call? Lower down or even mute your speakers. I used to say "OMG I GOT THIS SONG THE OTHER DAY, ITS ON MY COMPUTER, I SHOULD SEND IT TO YOU" at work. Now? I go "OMG I DOWNLOADED THIS SONG ON MY COMPUTER, HOLD ON, LEMME FUCKING PULL IT UP ON MY AWESOME FUCKING PHONE". So, while we were having a little party at my house, my blackberry falls, trackball falls out and i get the pieces and re-assemble my trackball to put it back in. Then outta fucking nowhere, drunk bitch knocks shit outta my hand, and the scrollers go missing. So guess what? NO WAY TO NAVIGATE. So, i did some research on the G1 Android, seemed pretty cool. Open source, so theres ALWAYS new games and apps for it. Ran down to Tmobile, got it. I got home, turned it on, started messing with it. Next thing i know, i fucking look up and 4 hours go by. WTF THIS THING IS AMAZING. God, the best phone ive ever had in my life. The market is FULL of fucking apps, sure, some are dumb, but hey, the G1 has been out for what? 1-2 months? Shit, i can only imagine. Already i saw a GBA emulator app on the market. You take your SD memory card, put some GBA roms on it, plug it into your phone, install the FREE gba emulator and start playing. Sure, it prolly plays like shit, but hey, its a start. Open source ftw. Touchscreen is amazing and really responsive. Now i know why this is a heavy debate on being th competitor to the Iphone. This thing really -is- amazing. Fuck the blackberry storm. If you are looking for a new phone, i HIGHLY recommend getting the G1. Retail on it is 400 bucks. I got hooked up with this chic that works at tmobile that is...a..friend. I called tmobile and they said i wasnt elligible for the tmobile full discount, but i got it anyway. Anyway, the only cons are: Theres no 3G network in CT, which sucks. But its fine, because im only 30 minutes away from NYC, which has the largest 3G network. So theres certain parts of my town that gets the 3G coverage. Im starting to notice these apps take a shitload of battery life. I think there is a replacement battery out there for the G1 that lasts longer, but meh, i wont be using apps alot since im working most of the day. God i love this thing...afk4lyfe playing with my G1. EDIT: Been playing around with it a bit more. Shazam is awesome. Hold the phone up to some music, shazam finds the artist, album, song name and links to download the song off the web instantly. Good for those times your listening to something and you are like "OMG WHO SINGS THIS" or "WHATS THIS SONG CALLED". Pretty fucking neat. Loopt is total awesomesauce. Well, its not really since pretty much nobody has it, but the idea is very nice. Its pretty much like a GPS version of facebook or AIM lmao. You use your GPS to tell people where you are, you can send your buddy list invites and stuff. So like, you go to a party, turn on your loopt, and write a "PARTY WHERE IM AT" message to send to everyone on your buddy list including city/state/zip/street. And they are also working to incorporate it with google maps, so you can actually have people pin pointed on a map. Also then you can send pic/video/text messages to them as well. Its pretty nice. Bartender App is fucking awesome. Just got it, it includes about 500 different type of drinks/mixes for parties. I had a couple friends name like 15 each, found every single of of them, the only one i cant find, is the one that -I- wanted. WTF, anyone know what a chakra shot is? ffs More updates coming soon.

The only good thing is the fire physics. Ive pirated it on the PC, its a decent game, nothing too special. Driving aspect of it is fucking horrid. Played it a couple times, and got bored with it. Not too entertaining. I wouldnt waste money on it. Its just eye candy. The graphics -are- amazing.

Thanks polix for giving the game forum a chance for activity. Even though you gave it 5 days, the 21st to the 25th and then closed early in the day on the 26th. Im sure people love going to the bottom of a forum where they look all the time, and posting in all the threads that were closed about games on christmas eve and christmas day. Because you know, the number of people who are actually at the computer this week is booming, just look at the forum traffic as a whole. Its not like they went away, or spent time with the family.
