  1. A thick skull huh ..... ? ..... no comment. As NFS said ..... i think that says more about those ppl than anything else. Sitting on the side line because they cant play unless its on a running turret ? lol If theyre that bad, they should think about playing and getting some practice. And maybe if they played, YOUD also have more targets to hunt ..... instead of having to use multiple accounts to artificially raise the zone number (cheating) to put them all on your turret as a gunner. As i said, im sure your motives are very altruistic All for the enjoyment of these poor players who would otherwise have to sit on the sidelines looking out longingly at the people playing *sigh* http://forums.ssgn.net/public/style_emoticons/default/cray.gif in case you missed it, i was being sarcastic The bonus of having extra guns, and more repels, thors, bonuses etc. to get easier kills and avoid dying as much is irrelevant i guess. And the fact that if the other freqs are all smaller, and thus even when they combine to chase, they have to be wary because they do more damage to each other and make themselves vulnerable to your usual running mines, bursts, backlobs, etc is just a fringe benefit i suppose. . LOL Seriously ? I dont think there are many non-vets in the forums. Even irregardless of the cheating employed to make it possible to have the larger turret, im sure most are aware that a large turret that can fire-at-will is STILL at an advantage even when being chased by MANY times their own number of hunters, who are going to be on different freqs. Which means the hunters are forced to be careful to not hit each other and weaken or kill themselves, or theyre shooting fellow chasers with no regard (which unfortunately seems to happen more often), which makes it easier for the turret to get more kills and survive anyway.
  2. Thats a good point NFS. You would have to think about more mines being dropped in your face. How long do mines last out there in the main regions of activity ? Unless its an individual mine that was also dropped while on the run, most are placed in areas of high traffic to catch the unwary. Longer times would mean they stay there much longer. Which means the miner doesnt have to come back to replenish them as often. In addition, mines in the active areas tend to get run over or repelled away more frequently, so the person placing mines gets replenished anyway. Consider also that mine reppers (especially the cloaked variety) can now sit and wait for much longer periods of time for a target to repel, without having to use energy to replace their mine stack. So considering those two views, i would say on balance, i prefer the shorter times. Yes its a pain in the ass to consider mines being dropped in your face by someone youre chasing, but you can avoid those. And most of the time if its too close, youd repel them anyway (thus replenishing the runners supply).

You were even calling my coords out after i ticked off you, Jenn_B, and Gad ..... difference was that i didnt really care Besides, MOST ppl dont go running off to hide, so coords wouldnt make much difference anyway ...... Someone who has apparently violated rules consistently, and even recently has logged in with multiple accounts to artificially increase zone numbers to increase his gunners and then reduces it to prevent other freqs getting too big ...... has got you (his designated mouthpiece ?) to whine about OTHER ppl cheating ..... Maybe if you tried playing more instead of riding Gad, you wouldnt need to rely on his lame tactics to get you kills, and the practice would pay off The other day i actually saw you WITHOUT a turret ..... and i left you alone at first, because i honestly dont have an issue with you at all. But you kept trying to mine rep me. Then you finally came to attack ONLY when the other guy on your freq came after me. However, when i kill him, you then go running off again. Is this what youre learning from Gad ? If youre so desperate for kills, you can mine rep me if you want, because i dont really care about stats
  7. I never said he was doing nothing, I said he has been making changes that no one knows about, and that's a bad thing. Some kind of notice would be good. You never know which change may alter your playing style, and a notice would avoid ppl having to figure it out

I dont really see a reason to change the number of team mines to be honest Im aware that if im on a larger freq, then i may have less mines, so i keep that in mind while im playing PsyOps mentioned having limited mines per person. That seems like a better idea to me than less TEAM mines. On the occasions when i mine, i usually just drop single mines. If its strategic placement, i leave a max of two piles of 2 mines ..... with 1 held in reserve in case i need it . Less individual mines would affect me, but PsyOps idea would affect solo mine reppers alot more.

You were the one that told me this was your philosophy ("lots of discussion before any changes were made"). Thats a good philosophy. But if people arent participating, then how long should the discussion last ? Endless talk doesnt help anything to get done either ......

Frankly, it's not ok - the "two machine" rule covers it, but I'm working on a reworded version of the rule to clarify for those that are are confused by the concept that using two or more instances/machines is cheating/not allowed. FYI I have upon rare occasions given temporary permission for people to do whacky things while scores were down (i.e. not affect Reset Winners). Gad has also brought in those instances (usually with Turkey in the name somewhere) and killed them repeatedly at times -- one time with permission while scores were down, but more than once after that while scores were up (i.e. without permission). I told him to stop (DUH!), and now I see that he did it again a couple of times a few days ago probably while he was doing his freq size increasing trick. Opinions on what should be done about that? --hallu Off-hand, id say that this gives you ample reason to ignore ANY of his complaints/whining ..... I mean seriously ..... someone THAT lame who does pretty much everything he can to be unsporting ..... ? And now hes whining just because i post his lame turrets coords so he cant use his weak 'tactics' and then run off to hide ? Anyway, im sure there are a few others who might even try it too , but i dont really know how youd be able to stop that kind of unsporting attitude short of kicking them. Is there some way to detect a players IP and automatically allow it to only be able to login with 1 account at any given time from that address ? And i already told you what i thought might help with turrets now that zones are always so small anyway ..... 2-man turrets (pilot and 1 gunner) But yeah, i know that might not be a popular idea
  11. oops ..... forgot ...... in response to Hallu's post ..... I can see the point about 'spam' and when hallu asked me to cut back on the number of posts, i did. As mentioned, it IS a macro, so it can be ignored easily. I only post an individual msg at a time (unless theres some drastic change ... such as an immediate warp). Alot of ppl arent talking in public, so at a glance it may look like theres alot of posts ... even though theres a separation in time. Plus im also something of a chat-whore and talk too much anyway (even when playing) People have said that turrets can be fun ..... and i agree. Personally i suck as a turret pilot because i take too many risks. But ive had fun being a gunner. However, most turrets ive been on look for action and head to areas with activity, and that makes it fun. Being chased by hunters is also fun. Ive been on turrets where i posted the location myself just to let ppl know I wouldnt mind also chasing the turret too ..... but it gets boring if hes just going to run away for hours at a time. And you cant find him anyway. I think itd be funny as hell if EVERYONE took a turn giving his coords (one person at a time of course .... to avoid excess spam) I can understand Hallu's dilemma ..... but i dont really see any point to this thread. When people complained about them being lame, it was fine, and a source of humour. But now theyre whining because im making it more difficult for them to be lame ? Incidentally, when i posted coords less frequently as requested, i had people pvting me or asking in pub for the coords As i said then, and as i'll say now, its fairer for EVERYONE if its made public so everyone has the same information to work with
  12. LOL i think its funny that theyre complaining now Gadianton has been using weak/lame tactics for a LONNNNG time. For whatever reason, he thinks we should be impressed and amazed because he manages a decent ratio. Though its obtained by his TURRET mine repping, vulching from afar, lobbing bombs from his lanc turret, etc ..... which on its own isnt unusual. But, then if anyone even so much as looks at him he goes rocketing off all the way around the edges of the map dropping mines for chasers, portaling/door-warping, and of course they all award themselves bonuses to survive and get away. Annnd if its still too difficult, he goes and hides in a safe zone till the coast is clear for him to go back to powering up to continue laming I, like others, have tried to engage this turret if i see it, or right after it tries a mine rep on me ..... but even an attempt to start turning, he doesnt bother to try and fight .... hes already running away again. And since he does this ALLLLLLL the time, you can never find him. Im sure most of the people here are aware of all this, but im just giving a brief recap for those who may not Anyway, people have been annoyed by this for awhile now. And usually when anyone comments on this in public, the Gadianton turret ignores the comments, mocks the others for 'whining', etc or makes some kind of comment as though they have somehow made a major achievement . I dont know if anyones noticed, but Gads current squad name is "Zonekiller". When ppl commented that his tactics might be ruining the zone, he made a claim along the lines that he didnt care and that he was going to try and kill the zone And now he and his usual turret gunners (Capefire, Jenn_B, etc) are whining that IM making it less fun for THEM ? http://forums.ssgn.net/public/style_emoticons/default/cray.gif ... amusing. Besides, it seems like everyone else is having fun now though :D People can locate the turret if they want to hunt, or they are aware when its in their vicinity to try some laming attempt from out of sight of the target The turret is still getting lots of kills on the chasers (mostly because theyre from different pub freqs and damage each other quite abit in their haste) ......but now the turret has to work for kills against targets that know its there And i wasnt really aware of this, but Polix made a post in another thread ..... wait ... you know that he intentionally multi-clients sometimes ? just to temporarily increase freq size for his turrret ? i wouldnt be surprised if he reaches those new heights of lameness Even if he doesnt do this all the time, the fact that its done at ALL speaks volumes. 2 nights ago, the turret had 3 ppl on it in a zone of 10 ppl (about 1/3). Last night there were 4ppl on the turret in a zone that at the time had 14-16 ppl (~1/4). And this is a turret that runs away
  13. As ive said before, i dont really use bonuses .... thats why i green But i think thats a good idea ...... id say reset everything at the official RESET. Itd make more sense. Just as your score, stats, etc all go to zero, so do your bonuses I think Caer points out a major problem and how it could be used to abuse the system by saving up bonuses.

You launch a game called 'Continuum', and then you go to the forum and all you see everywhere is 'Subspace' and 'SSGN' ..... soooooo .......... I wasnt a regular player of chaos, but i dont remember those being part of the zone. You wanted to hear what i thought, and i told you. Post the rest of our discussion too if you want. I also asked about when we might see some of these ideas being implemented, and when the announcement would be (after you told me thered be an announcement prior to any changes). I cant remember your exact wording, but you told me not to 'badger' you and i seem to remember some veiled comment along the lines of i might not like the outcome ? Your post of the logs will clarify if need be Youre asking for our feedback and ideas, i dont see why we cant ask about a timeframe. You said it was still undecided and also that any changes will only be made at a reset (which im sure most of us already aware of anyway). Thats fine. But when will there be a decision ? And its not like anything has to be PERMANENT You can still try out various ideas to see how it goes Obviously other changes were tried out to varying degrees of acceptance.
  17. Yes the general advantage turrets have is greater now that the population is lower. It can be pretty silly to turret when there's only two other players in the arena. The issue you mention, of turrets sticking around as people leave and remaining as a 4-person stack against lowering pop with freq size=2 can be a pretty lame personal choice of the turretters. BUT, what is your suggestion? This has been kicked around many times (I'm just reporting what I've heard, I haven't been in Chaos a long time so I'm not the best source of info) and the different ideas to attend this problem come with issues of their own. - If you were to forcible split a 4 person freq when the freq size goes down to max, 1. Which one of those players gets changed? How would you elect which player? 2. How can we differentiate between a turret and a general freq? Some poor bastard has worked hard for 2000bty alone, gets joined by others, then freq size goes down and he gets changed off his freq, potentially having his bty reset or spawning on a stack of mines? 3. When do you do this? It would be bot driven, so they could be *about to die* when the bot suddenly respawns them safely on another freq. 4. How do you manage freqent freq size changes? The freq size might JUST go up, you join a freq, the freq size goes down again 2 minutes later (or less!) and you're thrown out? - Maybe if a player got *killed*, and their freq size was out of synch, that player might lose their spot on the freq? I remember asking this once and there was a reason why it wasn't as simple as it sounded. - If a player entered safe (or whole turret did, of course), then they might have their freqs changed. Back to the earlier one, who gets changed? Where do they spawn? etc etc Also, what if they were generally afk to go for a leak, then they come back and looks like they've been brickwarped out of safe. The concepts are there, but this would need a lot more work. Can you see how its just not that simple? This thread was just near the top, and eadily available Thats all Vulching, line-bombing, radar-bombing, lobbing are annoying, but not a problem. I think those are integral part of the game. And as you mentioned, even a pilot who normally gets in up-close-and-personal will lob a few bombs in as they rush toward an encounter. And removing those would be impossible anyway. Even mine-repping cant really be 'removed' As for turreting, i never said anything about removing ppl from a freq when the zone numbers change My suggestion would be to allow only a 2-person turret (pilot and 1 gunner) Noone would need to be removed from a freq. But no matter how many are on a frequency, allow only 1 person to attach at a time in Chaos zone pub. How often are there so many players in the zone to justify a larger turret ? I was just told by hallu that there will never be any changes made to turrets. I just left the zone, where there are about 9-10 ppl playing in the zone, and 3 of them are on a turret, while the others are mostly single person pub freqs. Essentially 1/3 of the zone is on a single turret. Personally, under those conditions, i cant even be bothered to play Chaos. I dont see any fun in it. And this is a daily occurrence. If there were more people playing, it might be ok. But obviously the whole problem is that there arent So why bother playing just to provide entertainment to the turreters for racking up lame kills in a small zone.

  20. Why not call it ..... Subspace: Continuum Incorporate both names into the banner and headings on this website, AND also when the game launches ? Or at least on the top for the 'name' where it currently says 'Continuum 0.40' Ppl will keep calling it however they want to. But having both names shown will reduce confusion. Businesses do this kind of thing too when they change names. For example, in Canada, when the office supply store "Business Depot" changed to "Staples" (as the parent company is known in the United States), the main signs were changed to "STAPLES", but next to it was also a small banner that showed its previous name "Business Depot" so customers knew it was still the same store and nothing had changed but the name.

    Warzone

    The warzone event this weekend was AWESOME !!! Original 4 ships (wb, jav, spider, levi) and we used the old warzone-east map. Great blast from the past ..... and the battles were epic, and the game was nicely balanced. The only thing that changed the feel of the game was having portals and boosters But even those worked out fine i think we should have more warzone games with just the 4 ships and the old maps ..... and id like to see the warzone-west map as i mentioned before. Those two maps were always my favourites, and i pretty much stopped playing wz after they were changed. And the newer ships for me made the whole game pointless. Bases will always be small enclosed spaces with lots of passages, walls, etc ....and having bouncing bombs go around corners, and terriers firing crazy amounts of bullets and even emps that freeze you just killed the appeal of the zone.

    20 sent me a message asking if i could specify which particular old wz map i was referring to as there are quite a few with combs ..... I looked on the maplist, and its the old "wzw" map Has the combs base, the castle, R20, the cross, etc ...... AWESOME map My favourite of all time.
  24. I like the 8-flags in the game. Many of the original zones no longer exist, but some of the regs are from those old zones. The flags appeal to the ppl who played Running-Zone and Warzone Running zone was pretty much the same as Chaos zone (but with flags). And while it mightve been ok to have 2 separate zones based on that difference many moons ago when there were far more players, it makes more sense to incorporate them in one zone now with fewer players. It dont think it really changes the zone too much. Except maybe attracting more hunters and vulchers towards those with the big red target And if i dont feel like flagging, i still kill the red ..... but then i use the option to SC. I dont bother with the option to avoid combat (unless my bty is kind of high) or sitting in a safezone . I green alot to get my ship up to strength (way more than some ppl on my freq it seems), and i keep greening as i play to keep it that way. So a SC and its loss of bty isnt a big deal to me.
