  1. My favorite part of one of the reviews was that Trench Wars was for the "leet" players. If this review reflects the overall opinion of players trying out new zones, then no one will ever stay in Chaos Zone. I realized today how to get new players in Chaos Zone and how to keep them...you can't. How many of you play Donkey Kong, Tempest, these days? Sure you might find some online game that is similar and play for an afternoon and then you soon forget about it. Same with Chaos Zone, it's an old game that people don't want to play anymore except for mostly the diehard veterans who you will lose if you make too many changes and Chaos is no longer "Chaos" as we know it. I for one don't want to see the zone die off (which we have been hearing for years now and at least hasn't completely happend yet) and would love to see 100+ players again, but as I mentioned above, it's a sign of the times and things change and fade away. A newbie arena would bring in minimal players if any. Very few, if any, newbies will want to spend the time to learn the game, there are too many quick simple games elsewhere to waste time, not to mention spending hours on chat roulette trying to get some Russian whore to show you her tits. Not trying to be overly negative here (yeah I'm sure you all believe me) but all this talk about how to get more players in a 13 year old game is like listening to grandpa talking about the days of 10 cent hamburgers and how he wishes it was still like that but knowing it will never happen.
  2. You forgot one really important option...no bonuses at all, which is my vote.
  3. This isn't league, piss off.
  4. Try telling the players what you are changing instead of keeping it a secret...you're not going to get much trust or warm feelings from players when you don't tell them what is going on. So we want to make the zone more newb friendly...if the reason for keeping the mine timer at one minute is to help newbs then you have a bunch more settings to change because the length of time that mines are active is not even close to the top of the list of reasons why newbs leave after playing for only a few minutes. You can remove mines altogether and newbs still won't stay so what's the next setting to change to make newbs stay? Oh, I have an idea, give newbs a supership, you know like in EG, that would help them learn how to play Chaos. On the topic of flags, one thing I have noticed is that for players that don't want to have a flag and it's associated downgrade (current settings) and happen to get one, they either have to recylce, go sit in safe for 300 seconds (if they get lucky someone will come by and shoot at them in safe and get rid of the flag), or fly around avoiding people for 300 seconds. This becomes a problem if there are only a few people playing in the zone (which is more frequently the case these days) and most of them have the flag and I don't want the flag, it leaves me with very few people to shoot at, if any, not much fun. Basically, in low populations I have to shoot people with a flag so I can at least get a few kills but then once I get the kill and the flag I either have to recycle, go to safe and wait 300 seconds, or flay around trying to avoid people for 300 seconds, again, not much fun. The flag should NOT have an upgrade or a downgrade, it should only have points associated with it, that's the only realistic way to have a flag game in Chaos.
  5. Why is the length of time mines are active still reduced? The reasoning last reset was because of the flag upgrade. Now that the flag upgrade is gone why is the timer for mines being active not back to its normal setting?
  6. Correct. I don't care how many points are given to a player(s) that win the flag game, my main point is don't give players weapons upgrades just for having a flag.
  7. Flagging (one flag, multiple flags...) is fine as long as there are no weapons upgrades for people that have flags. Weapons upgrades make the zone unbalance, especially with that gay shark that shoots a million bullets in a second. Points and jackpot are just fine.
  8. It seems when people lose they get frustrated. They try all kinds of things to win and in the end they realize that there are some things they just can't win. SVS is hard for new players and now that most people that play Chaos have been playing for a long time the newbies don't have a chance of survival. There is no real solution to the problem, you change the game the old players get mad. I think more events run by bots could help. TW was elimination events, zombies, and some other stuff. Possibly events where the setting are differnet than the pub settings. It would take people away from pub but at least more people might come in the door and visit pub when events are not going. I would say an event an hour run by a bot (this is key, trying to get a person to run an event will never work) might be intersting to some and in the in between times when an event is not going possibly some players will hop back into pub. Again these events could be all kinds of games with strange settings not necessarily Chaos "SVS" settings. like LC said, possibly so easy quick killing. 9. Winning is fun, maybe it's because I always win. At anyrate, does anyone else like to win? Not just at online games, but in sports or things like that. How do you feel when you lose? Do you care? Or say, eh, it's just a game? I like to hear how some people feel about winning and losing. These questions come back to Chaos Zone and what Hallu said about keeping players. Do you think newbies come to the zone and lose so much that they leave? Is it just too difficult to learn? Maybe it's a new generation of people that hate to lose and so they leave if they lose too much. gg, ez, owned,
  10. They're the ones running it, they can change it; however, after seeing the actions of the current staff I wouldn't hold my breath that anything will happen.
  11. It sets a terrible example when staff don't play, especially in a zone with so few players (Chaos Zone). When I see a post by a Chaos sysop thinking of ways to get more players while his own staff hardly, if ever, play the game it doesn't really make a player want to go out and help find more players. I think the phrase that fits here is "lead by example", otherwise no one will care.
  12. Seeing more staff members playing would be nice. If staff aren't interested in playng the zone why should anyone else?
  13. Laughable
