Was there a reason why I wasn't ranked by bot?
Nude For Satan replied to Odin's topic in General Discussion
Is either 50 or 75 depending on what criteria, can't remember offhand. -
I wanna know if you have some form of macro in place to post one of these quotes each time you say it in-game.

				Alpha Zone Discussion/Nostalgia
Nude For Satan replied to Nude For Satan's topic in General Discussion
Approaching the first weekend of August again, just a few short months away. Moar alpha weekends/weeks please! -
	I'd do me.

I ike this concept of extending safe time but having streak expire at an earlier point. And the best current streak of 1 kill @ 78bty over 44 minutes for Nude For Satan has ended through to a safe zone overstay!

Fongz has started a game of Skill. Get the most points in 10 minutes to win! (See !help skill) Broadneck(0) killed by: Fongz Fongz(0) killed by: Broadneck Bizzahbobby(0) killed by: Broadneck Chaos-Scor> Fongz takes the lead with 176 points! Chaos-Scor> Broadneck takes the lead with 228 points! Chaos-Scor> Player 'Broadneck' scored a double kill. (0) applause.gif

I'm in two minds, though generally against long safe times. Maybe safe time allowance can be aggregated based on session time ... for every 10 minutes you play, you get 2 minutes safe time (with a 15 minute free startup flagfall). Eg: someone comes in and has 15 mins safe time up their sleeve, they play 20 minutes and now their safe time allowance is 19 minutes. If you do leave altogether, or spec, it resets. Maybe that's a harsh ratio, it doesn't have to be exactly that calc. But I think safe time (other than a basic 15 or 20 mins) should be earnt through accumulated session play time.

Absolutely loved it. Lack of reps was brilliant. Missed rockets but meh, just had to develop patience and reach for a drink /answer phone / whatever with a finger still on the up arrow. Had the choice of general stupidity in the centre "circle" or something a lot more honest and accountable outside it. Plenty of lame stuff still so nobody really missed out. Sitting in the circle attempting to lure safe huggers out was a lot of (expensive) fun. And yes, there seemed to be one day when there was a huge number of people playing, definitely over 30. The (bastardised) numbers on the GUI said something massive. People flocked to play these settings, or at least for the quaintness, or for the party in general. The dueling boxes themselves only got a bit of use, but people did have a look at them. But, it's not technically true to Chaos Zone. So it couldn't be full-time, or it just wouldn't be ... Chaos Zone. One full reset of it would be fun though, maybe not for a while, but someday. Not everybody was impressed (though in most cases they seemed ok with the settings, but just annoyed with the map layout). Vast majority seemed to be having a great time. For now, it might be fun to explore some of the other zones that were merged into Chaos : Speed and JP, for instance. Which is where Jenn's thread kicks in. The DZA arena is always here as a subarena (?go dza1) though there's no bots. EDIT: Hallu what were the numbers? Was it officially a good turnout? Also which way did feedback lean?

Any way to view a !playerstats for a previous reset?
 -
I vote move the castle up, have it secede from the Hallutron, and revert it to that old design these bastards are talking about.
 -
Not in reset points though. Reset points need to be purely for kills, because that's what those points are all about. Maybe a separate points set for KOTH similar to how flag points are treated.

Back to the zone I started in but was too drunk to remember not only playing in, but even what my original alias was.

Haha no way man, haha that is an awesome concept but I don't think it's workable in any way For starters, people would all gang up on one player they didn't like. Lol, people would come out of spec just to take away everything on a Gad or Skiz ship, then go back to spec. Might as well have !bonus justdie and it just kills em. Mind you, for a fun event, it could be arenawide lols to implement at certain times, with due warning. Maybe, hmm thinking, how about arenawide greens, eg a green out there for alldeplete, so ONE person hits it and EVERY ship cops a deplete. Ok, no. I hear you. How about !bonus bullets, which disables bombs, thors, mines and bursts, leaving everybody suddenly relying upon gundueling Would have to remove reps too, or despawn any laid mines. !bonus trigger - makes all mines immediately explode arenawide regardless of who laid them. Plenty of ffffffffuuuuuuuuuu's from people carefully amidst navigating a minefield. My favourite lol from this, though, would be if these explosions had same damage on their owners as on enemies. So people in the midst of laying a minestack will be even ffffffffuuuuuuuer. !bonus converge - all currently active fired bullets immediately chase down the nearest enemy target, even if that wasn't who they were originally fired at. More silly bonuses that we can use on our own ship, though, would be grouse. I want !bonus unprox to remove my prox! What about bonuses to close gates? Add gates at the scarperer escape route openings, and make it possible for a hunter to force a gate to enter its timed closed state via a !bonus. Probably impossible to code. What about !bonus target , so that a public announcement alerts all to a player's coords when someone uses a bonus on it. Ok, these are way sillier than yours Fun to dream of, though. The possibilities are endless.

But which one? Which player? To be honest I think it used to be "no teams til 6 players" until not too long ago, when problems with people keeping multiplayer freqs pretty much drove the change. While imperfect, it's definitely better than it was. I'm now wondering, should btys and streaks REMAIN with a ship that freqchanges SO LONG AS that change is done from a safe zone? (otherwise players will freq change merely to avoid an impending death)
 -
On the surface, this looks impossible to argue with. From memory, though, there were fair reasons to try the current setup. The main problem, regardless of when "next freq size" kicks in, is not so much when it rises to that level, but when it drops below it. Scenario: - Say there's 11 ships @ freq size 2, and freq size 3 is available when the population reaches 12. - I enter, and the freq size increases to 3. I join with t00z and Turbotron, and of course pwn the zone due to us being the only ships that don't lag. - Everybody else 3's up, but are no match for our panic reps, violent speech and schizophrenia. - One by one, people give up because they can't kill us, and spec to pitch hate from beyond the boundary line. - Soon there's us three, and Axe, left. A four-ship population, with three on one freq. - Totally unfair, although you may eventually err and one of us might get you. This scenario occurs no matter what the freq-size increase setting is. When pop goes up, you can team up. When pop goes down, there's no way to force a team to split "down". How is that approached? Two ways : voluntarily, or by force. 1. Voluntarily - Awesome, but don't rely upon it. Some players will refuse to split up because a) they have a streak/bounty and don't want to lose it through a freq-change , or b ) they prefer to enjoy the advantage a big freq in a little population has. Ask, by all means, but you won't always be pleased with the response. 2. By force - Awesome, but how? 2a. When freq size drops, the bot can automatically split players off an oversized freq. Err, which one will it choose? The last to join? The first alphabetically? Regardless, a player forced off a freq would have the right to ask "why me and not that **** over there?" 2b. After freq size drops, the bot can check for deaths and split an oversized freq by changing out a player who just died. BUT, when they are a 3-ship turret in a four-player zone, like say a specialist turret such as Gad or Blackers, they are likely to survive a long time, and the damage we are talking about, will be done long before the change kicks into action. 2c. After freq size drops, the bot can wait for a player to go to safety and change them out. BUT, see 2b, as maybe they won't feel the need to go to safe until the damage is done. Even if they did go to safe soon after, if they are turretting, they will all hit safe at the same time, and from hence please refer 2a. 2d. After freq size drops, a timer warning can be applied to freqs that are over the new limit. A thirty-second timer can perhaps be available for a player to change freqs without losing bounty/streak/etc. This might be impossible in a coding sense, though, and I'm sure there's pitfalls with it, that I have overlooked, but it's what I would lean towards.

What makes me come to Chaos? 1. Alpha West Zone closed. 2. Chaos Zone is the closest in style / settings to Alpha West Zone. 3. Most of the old Alphanians who still play Subspace now play in Chaos Zone. 4. On the rare occasions that I played zones other than Alpha West Zone, I dropped into Chaos more often than any other*. * I'm not sure how I managed this as, back then, we needed to achieve a certain amount of points to gain access to Chaos Zone, and I couldn't imagine I would ever have achieved that. But somehow, I intermittently qualified.

Hi Axe, yeah it has that as a good advantage, sometimes people have justifiable reasons to need to go afk a bit. Bit worried though about those who "run to safe" purely to protect themselves., though. Wham bam thank you Imam and then back to safe to make faces makes this face with me.
