You need to close not only stuff that you can see, but stuff on the taskbar, and potentially hidden stuff. Do you have some kind virtual desktop? Do you have any other modifications to your desktop? Window blinds? Active desktop? Any "preloaded apps" that don't show, such as QuickTime or AcroRead?

Some app you have is stealing focus from Continuum. Some instant messenger, toolbar, desktop thing, or other app. Try shutting down everything else. If you find the offending app, see if there aren't settings to keep it from stealing focus (eg, no popup, not always on top, etc.).

ssVCR is for zones that use PowerBot only. A bot records the game, and the [unaptly named] ssVCR app plays it back in limited form.

Have a sysop check your *tinfo. Sounds like bad clock sync. Most people have solved this by updating sound/video drivers and/or upgrading DirectX. Try going into options/sound and turning sound off.

Ok let's take this discussion in a new direction. Instead of talking about why everything in Continuum is insecure and wrong, let's talk about the way it should work. What do you do to make a client secure if it needs to be significantly authoritative? If you don't think the client has to be, then explain how, for example, movement can be completely handled by the server but still provide smooth play for the user. Ignore Subspace; imagine you are building a new multi-player fast-action game from scratch.
