  1. Greedy. You've just got a new one
  2. Fusion reactors have been made to work. Unfortunately the reaction as it is can only be sustained for a matter of seconds. The reaction releases far more energy than traditional fission plants (thats why H-bombs give you more bang for buck than A-bombs) but the reaction is much harder to create. If you are really interested, do some research into Tokamak reactors.
  3. To be a true anarchist you'd have to renouce all authority and society. As you're using a community forum, wearing the clothing and eating the food that society created for you and actually buy things with money you're not an anarchist, just a sad little sod who waves a banner saying "down with the government!" then drives home along the public interstate. Get the picture? Anarchy sucks
  4. Hey, at least you didn't get a reply from Akai Buring nuclear waste below the water table.... It'd cost a lot of money and it MIGHT work providing you can find somewhere suitable. You'd have to go very deep just to play it safe. I think they'd want to be sure they could retrieve it if they wanted to. The etheral is usually mixed with petrol to greatly extend it and burning is not the same as using it in a fuel cell. They'd have to run tests to see if its viable, perhaps you could give figures. Anything offshore is horrible to maintain and the environmental effects are pretty hard to monitor. I'm not saying it isn't doable, just not very cost effective and considering the troubles we're having with marine life (or the increasing lack of it) at the moment I think that offshore windfarms are unlikely to be realised. Also, getting the power back inland isn't going to come cheap or easy. It'd take years to pay back all the infrastructure you'd need and the maintenance costs will be prohibative. Photovoltics work but it doesn't come cheap, it carries its own environmental problems in the manufacture and disposal and they aren't easy to repair/replace. Maybe those problems will disappear in the future but that'd mean we would need serious funding now. This is not happening. Also the power would not be sufficient or reliable enough to be your primary source. Cold fusion IS science fiction. None of the experiments have successfully been duplicated by two or more teams of researchers. The movie is a complete fabrication, isn't that a shame, there is No chain reaction. If there were. the military would be piloting cold fusion bombs by now (what a horrible thought, people making nukes from seawater). Related sciences including bubblefusion and sonoluminescence have also failed to produced results of note. Geothermals are very location dependant. Also, judging from the country that uses it most (Iceland), it can't be maintained for more than a few decades because you cool the area too much causing a skin of lava to build up very quickly. Definately not a long term solution and the vents tend to come and go as they please. I'm surprised no-one's mentioned fusion plants but given the amount of progress these last few decades with the reactors I'm not surprised. Remember that the Bush administration gains its power from oil. As long as Bush runs America and Canada supplies America with oil there is no real hope for alternative power.
  5. Good idea What happened to your avatar?
  6. Of course it'd suck because you wouldn't be able to have images unless the server has to send Those as well. Could be quite a big download. Best off putting a simple link in the menu.
  7. I was going to mention that but I think its unecessary. You just need to neut out unallowed tags by converting all <>'s to &gt &lt then selectively changing back the ones you deem legal i.e. etc.
  8. I got among other things: A sniper's veil Misc. art supplies DVDs Unknown present, something high tech and electrical (probably an mp3 player) in transit from Hong Kong. The age of consent in England is 16, as is the legal age for purchasing tobacco. No rush to get ASSS and -*BAD WORD*-s (brit slang for cigarettes, as well as the other kind) I can get drinks without a meal now though Money to be made there. I don't drive yet because public transport is "good enough" although I plan to when I have the money.
  9. Telson, whats with all this mock English crap? Jim's always been in England, its not like he's moving there from the states....
  10. Rejoice? You're still in the country. And in my county too. I'm sure ve'll meet some time soon jim.
  11. Thankyou for your completely irrelevant post.
  12. Html hasn't got flaws. Crap browsers do. I think there is already a feature to add links like the zone's webpage. What you're looking for is a way of adding more pages perhaps? I think thats availible already but I'm not certain.
  13. He meant a lag spoofer that works by sending random crap constantly instead of proper subspace packets to fool the server into thinking he didn't lag. I'm guessing that this won't work because the server won't respond in that manner and because if your connection is bad anyway, your packets are still going to take a long time to arrive. In fact I'd be surprised if you don't get banned quite quickly... A bot can be used to detect people with abnormal ping figures and kick 'em in the nuts. Getting back on topic, what I mean is that the "rolling" won't correspond with what is actually happening but there is probably some fundamental flaw in my reasoning so I'll shut up and let Priitk not implement it
  14. I was referring to the students not the school. WTF would a school need to byp!@#$%^&* its own security to play subspace?
  15. Not really... it is our birthday afterall. Besides, I've used it before.
  16. Happy 18th :happybday: Have fun with Joker. But not too much The insane twin, madhaha
  17. Which is a good thing because if you program as well as you "hack" then thier computers will implode and we'll all live happily ever after.
  18. Pinky, these people are school kids. They're cheap, usually stupid and want all their software free and in an integrated package. They won't have s-*BAD WORD*- accounts, they might not even have broadband. There is no way in -*BAD WORD*- they're going to pay to be able to play a free game at school. What they really want is a central subspace proxy completely free with all the software taken care of by continuum and activated automagically by a checkbox. Nothing less will do. Clearly this isn't happening.
  19. Yes and Akai doesn't do that, he just comes here to -*BAD WORD*- at people and boost his ego hence: Aileron: 1 Akai: 0. Very little nuclear waste is actually produced and much of it is reprocessed for reuse or recycled for other products. The military are particularly fond of DU because it has so much m!@#$%^&* that it can easily punch through tanks and the sparks themselves weld through metal. While waste is produced however, there will still be bad press for nuclear powerplants and this very little investment in them. I think we will see new ways of using todays waste being much more likely than huge windfarms, solar furnaces or other forms of alternative power being used.
  20. Yeah, I should have done my homework. I'll find time to dig up the figures some time. I believe that a similar article was slashdotted not too far back but half of the stuff on /. is horribly wrong... iTunes, MP3.com and soon napster. The recording industry won't fall but it'll need to seriously rethink their marketting strategy and policies. Which reminds me, I just popped down the record store today. Not your usual highstreet HMV or Virgin rubbish but a proper recordstore selling vinyl. Buisness was going great even though the other stores in the area were being hit hard by slowly reducing foot traffic (local council upped the parking prices). There will always be a market for recordings, just not as the m!@#$%^&* market consummables that the industry wants...
  21. Depends if you're the person involved or a person trying to get involved (remember April and maka? ) I think people have a right to be recognised as whatever gender they want online and if X wants to pretend to be a girly then so be it.
  22. He said !freq. SOS needs glasses
  23. Concerning my stance on why there should be an age restriction on drinking, your brain does not cease growing until around the age of 18 and alcohol consumption is known to stunt that. Also, the law was put into place to prevent people from quieting children by giving them some strong alcohol mixed with their food as this lead to widespread death by alcohol posining. As you yourself have said, small children should not be drinking alcohol. Getting back on topic, I don't think that people that have not reached puberty are physically ready for sex and I think that the emphasis should be on education when they reach puberty instead of enforced contraception (like in India where abortions and steralisation have been the contraception of choice) and strict penaulties. This sets my preferred age of consent around the 15/16 years region.
  24. SS Game viewer is finished? Give me a link I know the calculation is clientside but I thought feeding the acceleration to everyone, a constantly changing and unpredictable value which you can't extrapolate, would be very difficult to keep in sync. If you can prove otherwise, I'm happy to go with it.
