  1. BE HERE FOR PUB FG SATURDAY 9 OR 10PM EASTERN, U NOOB. AS IN 24 HOURS FROM NOW
  2. I will be hosting 2 flag games this week. ======================================== PUBLIC FLAG GAME - Saturday Jan 18 @ ~10pm EST Saturday at around 10pm EST, I will host a public flag game, where anyone can join. If anyone wants to apply for captain, let me know here or in-game. Posting your interest here would be greatly appreciated. I will be vetting the two captains that are ultimately chosen. If I don't get any captains in advance, I'll choose captains on game day. Note: Choosing captains will not be based on "who was first", but based on what I determine to be the best choices for a fair flag game. You know who you are. Current players applying for "pub captain" HatemailsriPlayer Two. ======================================== "PRIVATE" FLAG GAME - Wednesday Jan 15 @ anytime after 8pm EST (whenever I'm awake basically) Wednesday night, basically whenever I'm there all night, I will host "private flag games". What do I mean by this? Basically, these will be smaller in scale, and not "open to the public". If you manage to build a team list and find another team to challenge, "squad-wars" if you will, I will facilitate a flag game. Think of this as a football field owner (me) making the stadium available for pick-up games on a non-game-night. Current players that have voiced interest to build teams for Wednesday night "priv fg" Saiyan PrincesriIf you are interested in signing up a team, please post below. If you have a list of team members, adding that to the post would be good. ========== If anyone has questions, ask here or in game (I'll probably respond faster in game).
  3. Note: Saturday night might not work for me anymore; I don't get back home until midnight. Sunday night at around 9pm Eastern works better for me.
  4. K, so one squad down. Let's see another squad up so that we can get a game going.
  5. Psythe, perhaps you want to sign that as: Psythe aka Sharpflame, so that the old vets know who you are!
  6. Bump omg. If this ever happens again though, I wouldn't mind contributing a bit. I didn't know Emit was still alive?! o.O made a fortune selling hs bucks for bitcoins!!!! Lol BTC, I'd believe that story too.
  7. Tried that, and no trace. Everything was off. I think the problem might be Peerblock. When it's on, I definitely can't connect to anything. However... even when it's off, there's still no guarntee I can connect.... which is why I can;t say for sure it's Peerblock.
  8. This has been going on for a few months now. Several zones appear offline to me. This is despite the Add/Update Zones window saying that the zones are online and populated (see screenshots). Any idea why? My Directory Servers are as follows: sscentral.sscuservers.net auto.subdir.net auto.subdir.org ssdir.playsubspace.com sscentral.trenchwars.org ssdir.playsubspace.com http://i.imgur.com/QXpZ2cs.png http://i.imgur.com/MYQPW0B.png
  9. Wait, what?
  10. To ask the obvious question.... who are you again?
  11. Well NL, I'll be entering exam period around now, so I'll have more time to help you beta stuffs.
  12. What zone and who netbanned you? And I wasn't in you farewell message!

    Thors

Thors are really only truly an effective threat if they are coordinated. Besides, if your lanc was smart, it would have AD ready for a situation like this. Also, Antiwarp would slow down the second wave anyways. For the enemy to coordinate 2 giant waves of thors to kill the lanc and its AD, not easy. And by then you would have another lanc ready, albeit with no energy due to the ?attach thing, but still, it should have AD anyways.
  14. This sounds like an interesting idea. Perpetually active gamemodes with low pop requirements will allow more frequent activity. This idea also allows people to "continue to center" which is good. Also, for once, I definitely agree with cheese: I like this idea.
  15. @ Monkey: FANCYCAKES! @NuB King: I see no downloads or images.....
  16. Everyone, post your custom graphics here! REMEMBER: THE GAME ONLY TAKES .bmp BITMAP FILES, REMEMBER TO REFORMAT The game labels them as .bm2, but they are really just .bmp files NOTE: forum does not accept .bmp apparently, so my uploads are in .png format The forum has a size limit of 2mb per file, and no .bmp, so I uploaded to mediaFire First post: my bomb graphics (from Samapico) http://www.mediafire...bpaew6bwbwvfbbt http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/2035/bombs.png my flag graphics (myself) Red dot makes it easier to see them (especially in ice bases) http://www.mediafire...okre794pcmvd18m http://img191.imageshack.us/img191/5867/flagt.gif
  17. Fair enough, I'd like to see some statistics on powerball boosted jackpots later on.
  18. If I read this right, there is no new money created. So what's the point?? The whole point is to have a way to create new money, that can be run more often, since it's justified by risk of investment. @ Spider: Well ya, it's just a way to "justify hosting more often/allow larger jackpots more often" if you want to see it that way, yes I agree that's what it boils down to. And yes, I agree it helps the rich, but since it's a boost to jp, it will help the poor too
  19. If the team shrinks, the reward will stay the same. Those players that left, well it's their loss to leave. Edited the OP
  20. The money is degranted. The money has to be donated BEFORE a flag game starts. I never said it was "player hosted," but rather the money comes from players, instead of a set jackpot, so that there's a risk factor involved.
  21. This is where the donation discount and donation caps come into play. To prevent inflation, the effective multiplier is reduced by increasing the discount on conversion of donation to jackpot boost. (ie, Donate $3000 @ 70% discount = $2100 boost in jackpot (that is to say, since it's a jackpot boost, all members would win the $2100). If you think inflation is a problem, lower the discount.Sri's idea for this was to be "a more regular hosted jackpot event, where instead of a set jackpot (ie 100k), people "buy into it" so that there is risk and its not a free 100k." Toxic, it's their risk. If you donate, you'd better stick around to play, and you'd better not lose. Donate at your own risk. This is meant to be a more frequently played hosted jackpot event.
  22. Sri and I hatched a new idea, having hosted flag games were the jackpot is funded via player donations. See this link for details on the mathematics of different proposed weightings and values: Donated Jackpot Spreadsheet The basic premise is that each team has a donation cap. Donations are converted to jackpot value at a discounted rate. The team's donation cap increases a set amount each time the team size grows. Any player can contribute any mount they wish towards the team's donation cap. Edit: Donated money needs to be degranted by a mod (unless someone writes a bot/module to run this) Edit 2: If the team shrinks, the reward stays the same. Those people who left, it's their own loss and prerogative to leave. Edit 3: Lose money would get boosted too, since lose money is proportional to win money, and win money is boosted by ?jackpot donations Edit 4: Money is donated BEFORE a flag game starts For example, if the per player limit was $3000 discounted at 70%, a 10 player team which donates the maximum amount (10 x $3000 = $30,000), the jackpot would be boosted $21,000. This means each player wins $21,000 more than normal, $21,000 - $3000 paid = $18,000 net gain. Again, any player can donate any amount towards the jackpot, as long as the team doesn't exceed its donation limit.
  23. What about 5pm EST? Europe is 5 hours ahead, at 10pm, West Cost is 3 hours back, at 2pm.
  24. This should happen in the evening when people with Saturday part-time jobs will be home to play. I suggest starting at 7pm or 8pm. I voted for 7 flags, 200 seconds, 1 flag per carrier, yes cobalt, no autoturrets. With 7 flags at 1 flag per carrier, it prevents quickwin; 12 flags at 1 per carrier is excessive.

"what unix is saying is start with good ship, then get it clawed back when you can actually build that ship yourself" I think this sums up the idea nicely.
