I don't think the shield looks too bad really. Custom spaceships are way cooler tho.

Maybe this has already been mentioned or discussed but I think it would be a nice feature if "every" graphical item was configurable like LVZ. You can define the frame count and display speed, ships excluded. Also each item should have the option for variants. Like one could have X different prize graphics and the client would pick one at random for each green it displays. With ships you could have a few variables like preferred and exclude. Preferred would be a list of ship graphics you prefer the client to choose from as yours. Exclude would be ship graphics you want the client not to give to other players. So if you had 8 different Warbird graphics installed with your client you could prefer 3 Warbirds from those 8 sets, and exclude those Warbirds from appearing as other players. Sounds as well. Suppose there would have to be some modest limits to prevent issues.

Does indeed look sweet.

Nice, is that going to be a configurable sort of thing? Like radius, color, perhaps even a texture projection kind of thing?

Hmmm. Well actual "console" of which the sole purpose was gaming would be Atari 2600. Bleep Bleep Bloop. Laser Blast until the wee hours in the morning. Still have it.

Cheese, You can use them for whatever you would like. I will look into D3d meshes, but I have a feeling the boolean models Bryce creates might not be to conducive to exportation to a format usable by direct3d. I will have a look tho. Not unsurprising and impossible at the same time. You see, given the tough economic times that exist in the universe today, WitchFX mfc. a subsidiary of Witch Doom Corp. was on the verge of bankruptcy due to the low demand for the sport class space vehicles which were the mainstay of its production line. Enter Solaris United. Better know for producing toasters and adult novelties, the board of executives at Solaris saw a real opportunity to breath new life into a dying market. "We know people like toast, and we know people like things that vibrate. So we had this great idea about space ships with toasters and things that vibrate." Cornielius Finkerdorn, CEO of Solaris United. Solaris United purchased WitchFX mfc. for 1 gagillion space bucks and produced a new line of Sport Class space vehicles. Making sure that each ship came with not only a 9000 series Toastarificator (w/ Nano Robotic Automatic Jam Spreader), but A Climax Series: Vibrating, Auto-Lubing, Captains Chair. Given the new vehicles were still being mostly designed by the same staff that designed the line of WitchFX ships, it is easy to see the similarities. http://www.zignotzag.net/images/subspace/misc/WitchFXComp.png

A Ship-Set I started on quite a few years ago and just recently dusted off and finished up... http://www.zignotzag.net/images/subspace/misc/SolarisComp2.png Download Solaris Ship-set I also updated my ship tutorial and template files for those who would like to give it a go. Included in the Shiptutorial.zip are the Bryce7 project files for animating a ship, A text file explaining a bit how to go about getting a ship made, and a utility of my own design, which I have dubbed MegaSplicer, which assembles the frames from the series of .bmp's output by Bryce(36x36 VIE only). It generates two files from the raw frames, a flat file, and a roll file. May need XP Sp3 compatibility. One should note that as of this posting, you can download Bryce7 for free from Daz3d.com. I do realize that this is not the primary function of Bryce, but it is a capable program and far more simple and quicker to get results with if you are just a arm-chair creator such as myself. Blaa Blaa, and so on and so forth, I grow weary of typing things now, so lets put a link and be done. http://www.zignotzag.net/images/subspace/misc/MegaSplicer.jpg Check out the Ship-Set Tutorial section of this Forum if you are interested in making some ships of your own. Submit your download to one of those multi engine online virus scanners. If those report it as clean, then most likely your AV is seeing it as a false positive. www.virustotal.com

I dont think you really need to be concerned so much with what you have initially for graphics. When you have a stable setup that it seems like people are going to use, you can then flesh out the graphics over time. Besides, you are going to have two camps really. Exsisting players who pretty much are in love with the original stuff and will consistely reiterate that fact. New players, who came to see what all the fuss was about and as long as the gameplay is there with a promise of updates to come, will stay to see it. The exsiting players are a concern and would be your intial players. So as long as they can plugin the old graphics if they feel like it, not a concern.

Awesome stuff here! Exciting to be sure. I only have one question. Will this still be hooked into SSC billing?

Ah well. A day late and a dollar short. Seemed a bit of waste to just have it sitting on a backup CD if it still functions tho. Anyone is going to be hard pressed to find anything better then VIE ships, only ones that are "differant".

Hi there SS/Cont folks. I found this on some old backups and thought I would throw it out here just because. It's a shipset manager I created quite some time ago and forgot about. I seems to work just fine in win7 64 but you have to set for compatibilty with XP sp3. I dont really have time to work on it if the conclusion is reached that it is broken. I suppose if the demand is there I could dust it off. It supports only 36x36 vie sized full shipsets. Basically, you put all the shipsets in subfolders, point it at your continuum.exe and then drag and drop ships to and fro. You can also adjust the hue of ships to suit your demanding tastes. When your all set you just click save and it grabs all the various bits you specified and compiles a new shipset from them and plops it into your continuum dir. If you are so inclined to give it a go, download from link at the bottom of this post. Make a dir called "ShipSetDJ" somewhere. Extract the zip into there. Once you do that there will be a shipsets subfolder. Make new folders in here for the shipsets you download from various places. Run it(XP sp3). Click file. Click Continuum Dir. Point it at your....Continuum Dir. Click ok. Read the brief help. And so...here... http://www.zignotzag.net/images/subspace/shipsetdj/DJShot1.jpg http://www.zignotzag.net/images/subspace/shipsetdj/DJShot2.jpg http://www.zignotzag...e/ShipSetDJ.zip

Stop sucking up bandwidth with all this noise.

Jotting down the exact error message might help. Have you tried re-installing the game? Checked for spyware? Viri? Them things can prevent programs from loading correctly.

Alas another blow to the War of the Skinny People trapped in a Fat World. Where's the "So Much Fat...That Anorexic chic will go regurgitate her tic-tac just watching YOU eat it" Ice-Cream?

"The only problem with that comparison is that the deaths in the U.S. are not against other groups within America for the point of proving a point, or in protest of another group. I mean there are a very very few. Even after 9/11, there were a very small amount of actual violence against the muslim people, and or their temples." Yes our violent acts are over much more important things like "turf" and that next hit off the crack pipe. "And as for your statistics, the chances of YOU getting shot walking through the wrong hood is slim to none. You might get attacked, or beat up for your wallet, but the overwhelming majority of murders happen between people who know each other, and are either gang/problem related in these neighborhoods. And by sheer numbers we might have more deaths, but % we are well below." Yes, the odds of me personaly getting shot are slim, but the fact remains...these are volitile areas with abundant amounts of senseless violence. Wether its a random death, or gang killings...its still americans killing americans....without even a religious cop-out to back it up. "He looked at me wrong/wore the wrong colors" i was thinking in more of a statistical manner, then a personal one. Iraq population - 26,074,906 America - 295,734,134 "Of course we have more deaths in our country. And of course we have a higher death rate as you have a country with that many more people, its bound to happen. Also inciting that the "baby boom" generation is starting to die off, so that our death rate has been overtly high over the past 5 years." when looking at situation like bagdad your talking about an occupied city. And yet it is 'Statisticaly' safer to walk down the street there, then it is to walk around in DC. Regardless of the population differances...thats revolting. Again...Muslims are not quick to be violent....your seeing that one educated Muslim, pulling a Charles Manson with the foolish ones.
-
Agreed. I dont think it really has anything to do with the faith. Its the lack of education. Most of these radical muslim groups consist of one well educated leader. And the rest are just uneducated sheep that do what they are told. I think IQ averages in that part of the world are really low. Tools. And just as some food for thought: More people will die of violence every day right here in the US, then in Iraq. You are more likely to get shot walking through the wrong hood in DC. Then walking through the streets of Bagdad.

Earlier today, my isp was having issues and routed me through hopone. I couldnt even play...ploss in the 90% after 100 slow, slow cycles. The second the issue was resolved and hopone wasnt in the route...back to 50ms and .1 .1 Go figure. In other traces ive seen on here...major ploss and ping increases right at hopone. Yes hopone has issues.
