  1. You can say there's nothing wrong with spelling You as U, but that doesn't make you correct.

    Ban

I'll personally ban you from these forums if you do that again.
  3. There's nothing wrong with spelling ASSS as ASSS. Incorrect.
  4. The link bar has ASSS spelled as ASSS. Please correct this.
  5. I don't mind old bases that aren't completely overpowered. Unfortunately for this thread, the old base 3 was completely overpowered.

    Ideas.

They'd be allowed to use the arena when leagues aren't happening, obviously.
  7. You're lying. Continuum was never released by VIE. Consider yourself disqualified.
  8. Read any of the forum posts from that period. Things weren't as rosy as people seem to remember. Most of the post were like "put the settings back to before". I've said it a hundred times: Hyperspace will only move forward. We ins!@#$%^&*uted our changes for a reason, and that reason is just as valid now as before. Switching back without acknowledging the reason for change is a recipe for disaster.
  9. Explain how you deserve anything you've received in this game. Have you paid any of us for giving you this game? Have you paid for ANYTHING in SubSpace? Have you ever given us anything but grief and frustration over a game we freely contribute to? No, of course not. There's nothing more galling than a player of a volunteer supported game that thinks they deserve something. The good news is we don't expect you to. We contribute to this game not for the player base, but for our own personal growth. That doesn't mean, however, that you can demand things and expect us to go along quietly. In fact, it means pretty much the opposite. Be thankful.
  10. What exactly does it mean "no items allowed"?

Leagues involve organization time. All of our mods either don't have the background for organizing a league or don't have the time to put into starting a league. Same goes for sysops. Saving HS isn't a big issue. The zone is simply in a rut, but there's absolutely no reason it can't get out of it again. No one has died or moved on from the game, it's just a matter of waiting for some more development time.
  12. Ignorance will be ignored (Lera and Acer) and not commented upon. As for exams, the point isn't to get new players into the zone, it's to show that adjustment of the team sizes isn't the way to help the zone. I fully expect there to be no change after a week. After all, there's very little difference between the team setup of today and the team setup of two weeks ago (and there wasn't much pop then).
  13. Acer, read the thread again (yes, I know, four whole sentences). I'm going to take out bountying entirely.
  14. My initial system will do the following: Enforce ship limits in the way that everyone expects. Can't play in ships you don't own, etc. Try to balance teams by exp. If a team becomes unbalanced (within some number), it will select players to move based on how well their movement will help bring balance and also based on how long they've been a part of the team. Publics are only balanced with respect to other publics. Players will never be moved from a public to a small private to make it balanced. Privates can never exceed both the balanced publics and the balanced privates (need to account for the possibility of having privates with no real public teams existing). To even private frequencies WRT other privates, players will be pulled from privates and moved to a public. I may need additional code to allow a single pub when large privates exist, but I'm not sure how it could be implemented. I will not be implementing the dynamic priv sizing proposed because of complexity and the fact that I'm not sure how much benefit it would provide. I will try to implement a lock when the flag game is winnable, but probably only prevent people from hopping to the winning team (not preventing them from moving to a losing team). It will not be part of the initial system, however.
  15. If the population hasn't significantly changed by Oct 21, I'm going to start ins!@#$%^&*uting some changes. If the pop does increase, I'll leave things alone for a while.

    Ideas.

I've never cared about population, so if that's a requirement, the zone never would have survived to this point. QED it's not a requirement.
  17. Dr Brain

    Private Freq

    Pub/Priv are now 8/6.
  18. Took me a couple of weeks to learn Dvorak. Weeks well spent. It's not that hard to switch back to QWERTY when you're typing at someone else's computer, and even though I'm slower than I used to be, it's not like I'm writing essays on someone else's box.
  19. If you need a one handed layout, just use one of the Dvoraks, they come in Left and Right handed versions (as well as the totally awesome standard Dvorak). Then there's no need to drag around a keyboard with you, since all windows computers can be easily switched.

    Canada

One of the better ideas to come out of this board.
  21. HS really needs its devs to get time to devote to the zone. Any project you might do will only work if I get time for HS, which isn't something I've had lately.
  22. Without a replacement client, or a totally redesigned infrastructure, nothing in your proposal will change anything. True, it might get money to server hosts more easily than at present, but that would be the only change (one completely invisible to the end user). I'm not putting you down. I'm only stating that your primary goal shouldn't be funding, but rather design or redesign of the client. At the very least your goal needs to be funding a game development team.
  23. Seemed pretty clear to me.
  24. What else could the "That" refer to besides the Pray verb in the previous sentence?
