News.txt must be set to read-only at the server-side. Check that first. About setting the spawn, look at http://wiki.minegoboom.com/index.php/Complete_Settings#S and scroll down to 'Spawn [Continuum .38]'

Can't you use http://edome.fi.soneraplaza.net/subspace/ and then search for the squad?

I assume its a biller-internal variable which is displayed whenever the name can't be found anymore, for example due to corruption or any other reason. The squad isn't reset for a reason, but the squadowner can't be found anymore.

I don't think it can be done via settings, however you can make a bot that does that for you. It can watch the flagcarrier, and whenever it jumps a distance longer then 200 pixels it can do a *flagreset.

Open Continuum, click the zone that you are having problem with and then click 'trace'. Let it run for 20 cycles or so, export the results and post them here.

That won't cause any problem, leg0las, as long as it is a valid filename. Your original server.ini didn't have ServerIP set, this might cause problems.
