Suppose you have a zone you're sysop in with a seizable and normal amount of population (say, DSB / EG / MG - alike). You have a staff performing good and running the zone each day. One of your moderators is doing an outstanding job and is also developing the zone putting lots of his spare time into it. One day you discover that that moderators has abused his powers and has put his name on sysops.txt through using a sysop name he had access to. You are receiving reports that he has been abusing the bots with the sysop powers and kicking players as he likes. What would you do? Kick him out of staff and the zone and loose a valuable staff member or act like you haven't seen it and leave him on staff even though you can't entirely trust him anymore? What do you find more important? What would be the thing that makes you turn to the other side of your decision? Note, this is just a hypothetical question and story. It's only slightly based on a similar incident (some time ago).

I doubt that, Aileron. I haven't ever heard such a thing about genes (being only specifying characteristics). (Not that I have read much about it.) Where does the "intelligence" of insects / animals come from then? If DNA can contain intellect then it must surely also contain behaviors (since it's part of intellect). I find it quite plausible that genes might be the cause for homosexuality. Homosexuality is part of the reproduction of our race (or; lack of) so it must have it's roots somewhere deep. Do we know enough about DNA and genes that we can already conclude it only specifies physical characteristics? If it's a behavior then where does this behavior quirk come from and why does so many people have it? They all got kicked in the nuts at a young age?

Somehow it seems to be a automatically generated e-mail to me. Are you looking for such a job (help desk work) and have you put your resume online? If it's a genius offer I'd say they aren't giving that much information but then again, I don't know the company nor your position on this.

That basically means the site is kaput because most of the images here doesn't contain a single transparent pixel.

Shouldn't copying the profile.dat file be enough? When upgrading from .38 to .40 I uninstalled .38 and installed .40 and only copied over the profile.dat file.

Saving as .gif works for me. Not really nice though. Saving in Photoshop would certainly generate better results.

hmmm what should the KOTH plugin do exactly? Have you tried asking Halo and/or EG for the plugin?

Tried disabling SpyDoctor and Norton alltogether? I think I remember SpyDoctor being a cause for such a problem in a previous topic.

Something on your computer is cutting/blocking/lagging out the connection to the server. Check if there are any other programs running in the background that might interfere. (Maybe even spyware/adware.) To be sure it isn't massive lag, run a trace in Continuum (let it run for about 50 cycles or more) and post the results.

I think a firewall is blocking the ports that Continuum need to update the zone list and connect to zones. Do a trace to Trench Wars (or any other zone you know that should have the correct address in your zone list) and see where it stops.
