One thing I've noticed.... nobody leaves ss for good (well unless they ded, bro). The community may shrink, but then things get simplified, and growth happens.... bringing in more players and revitalizing the game. Thank you for your service, PoLiX... I know I didn't communicate with you much, but when I did it was always a pleasure. The light will always be on for you.... maybe you can get rid of my warning points on the way out, lol

One of the problems with a User Bot (which is what UB stands for) contacting new players is that bots are not allowed to make any unsolicited contact with users who don't formally register with the bot. So it would have a to be a module. And I doubt they are going to code a module for something that can be done simply by pressing f1. If people don't remember about f1, maybe a message to hit f1 should appear when you enter the zone. OH WAIT! IT ALREADY DOES REMIND YOU TO PRESS F1 EVERY TIME YOU ENTER THE ZONE. Anyways... half the "new" players are just new names for old players and aren't really new. So bugging them with a module would be annoying. This does rather derail the point of the thread, which is not about newbs learning the zone, but rather once they learn the zone they find out that it's terribly unfair to new players. This is a "problem" that hyperspace developers are aware of, but for what are probably good reasons (which I can't think of) they've chosen to keep the structure of hyperspace as-is and let new users struggle. Also the point about level 2 being better than level 1 is not strictly a valid comparison in hyperspace where you also have to consider the firing delay and energy cost of bullets. The issue is that the better items are only available at higher money and experience levels. I personally struggled with this recently after returning to the zone from absence in April (when the reset was in February). Zone population was very low before the summer and flag games (where large amounts of money and experience are earned) just weren't happening. I made all kinds of suggestions/complaints on the forums about what could be done to make the zone better for new players. But in the end I just managed to struggle through. The population picked up some, I got in a few more flag games, and life was good. The turning point seemed to be around 7000 experience when the good signature items are available. And the money came with the population doing flag games again. PS I fully expect cheese! to tl;dr this.
