  1. I still play with all that other stuff.... maybe that's y u pro & im not
  2. See spider^^^ you've alienated a player and former mod who probably has gaming ideas on par or better than yourself...... and perhaps because all the other players come up with dumb ideas, you've grown a little callous to listening to the players you aught to be listening to....... I urge you to spend more time trying to find workarounds to anything unix suggests over all the other players, and if you have a technical reason why it won't work, I'm sure either myself, or myself and JoWie, can come up with workarounds in 15 minutes..... Also, consider everything UNIX has contributed to the zone...... between climbing the ladder and being filthy rich.... to coming up with unique casino bot ideas.... to hosting events as a mod...... And every time I would suggest an idea on how to milk the HS system, unix was always like "I already knew that.... been doing that for xxxx long time"
  3. I need a new thread called "Why SpiderNL should listen to UNIX" and not just blow UNIX off after thinking about UNIX's idea for 5 minutes and coming up with reasons why it won't work..... Basically it comes down to this, SpiderNL has specific things he finds fun, so first off, before suggesting your idea and why it's fun, you probably want to learn what spider things is fun in a game...... and try to work your idea into that concept of fun. But to be honest, Spider is pretty young, and his view of what makes a game fun is pretty limited..... Also, I'm not discounting brain here.... of course Brain has the last say on what he wants the zone to look like and what he thinks is fun, but he seems to have given a lot of trust over to spider as in spider seems to be doing stuff Brain, for the most part, also agrees is fun..... So that's why I say, learn what spider thinks is fun in a game..... then try to work your own idea of fun into his..... kinda have a meeting of the minds....
  4. I haven't played in several resets.... so keep that in mind... I just started playing again recently using "Johnny Snow"
  5. I agree, just like windows programs have "never show me this again" checkboxes, pros should have a "turn off sell security" option.....
  6. ew, who rolls their ship? I started turning it off once I realized it was affecting my interpretation of bullets/bombs/dodging/manuevering.....
  7. yes, but not being seen because your invisible is way funner than slipping past in a narrow corridor.... the adrenaline rush just isn't there.....
  8. One of the problems with HS is everyone trys to take the star role in basing..... and few players are willing to take supporting roles that benefit the whole team..... it would almost be cool to have players register their flagging ships, so the once they ?flag they are limited to those ships, then a more balanced team balancer could be implemented.... that would try to put together the best teams to go against each other based on what ships players could choose from...... sure the logic sounds impossible, but I bet I could come up with most of it in 15 minutes or less, bounce it off jowie.... and we'd have the basic logic done for spider to code
  9. that actually sounds like a really fun idea to me.... cat and mouse cloakers with nobody else in on being able to see.... except maybe oracle..... but you'd have to make oracle high experience or money or some other way which would ensure that it would not be easy for every person to have an oracle build..... cerium or was it arnk.... was always right about oracle being overlooked..... if it was the only way to see cloaks without being a cloaker yourself.... that would really make it more of challenge to pass up for one of the other sigs..... I always viewed oracle as like a River Tam ability...... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=di1G6O9HP6w
  10. Certain aspects that made HS fun in the past sort of got jacked because only a few players were good enough to actually pull them off, and it was viewed as unfair because seemingly one person got a huge reward, or affected the outcome of a match in a huge way all by themselves..... Two aspects I actually miss are runwinning, and sneaking past base defenses using a cloaked ship..... Why these two aspects were fun??? It was the thrill of trying to thwart a whole team or the whole zone, all by yourself...... my adrenaline never raced so much as when runwinning with a ton of people trying to stop me or when I would get through the last defending player using cloak (hoping there wasn't another cloaked ship waiting for me in flag room!!!) I'm not saying go back to the way things were, I'm saying, perhaps pruposefully design a few expensive ship builds, that would give you chances to have adrenaline rushes of you-vs-the-world if you could pull off mastering that ship build.... IE... the ship build still needs mastering in order to pull off such a feat.... In the current item set, x-radar is just too cheap and too common, every player has it if they want to.... and with 10-20 ships in a good flag game, chances are someone is gonna have it..... As for runwinning.... not really sure how to bring that back..... I just know the adrenaline rush was great! Perhaps before "fixing" the zone in the future, we should ask if our "flaws" aren't features....
  11. I would recommend asking these four players what makes a good base: unix, psythe, p nut, noldec.... spidernl will add his fifth opinion on his own when he approves or denies all the others...... I picked these four players not because they are the best basers, but because they represent four different types of players who have all excelled in one aspect of the game or another.... The problem with asking the four best basers... each base has it's own strategy.... and ultimately, we'd want bases that are fun for a variety of players, not just the ones who happen to be good at basing in the current bases or any base in the past..... we need bases that incorporate a lot of different aspects of what makes HS fun.... And I threw noldec in there, not because I've seen him rock bases, but because mods always want to join in a good base game, but often don't have time to commit to building all the best ships like I've seen unix and psythe do.... and I threw p nut in, because I usallly see him in center.... and if you can make a base he would enjoy as a centering player..... then you'd have won yet another section of the HS population...
  12. Dang... I'm old at 32.... Well... the problem with games today, is they think better graphics = better gameplay..... that's been the trend for years.... and they actually stopped pouring much money into the developement of game ideas..... in order to pump them into game graphics and "realism".... NEWS FLASH: NOBODY WANTS 100% REALISM IN A GAME! IT SUCKS TO HAVE TO DRIVE THE SPEED LIMIT ALL DAY ONLY TO GET TOLD SLOW DOWN IN A FREAKING GAME!!! Any good game will make tedious real life stuff abstract, not try to gungho make it like real life.... like this is why arnk's ammo system failed.... nobody really wants to spend all that time on a tedious real life task!!! Real life is good - Abstract real life is better - now take it up a notch to sci-fi - now take all those tedious sci-fi stuff and make them abstract... and boom, you have a good game. The point is, the focus on realism in graphics translated to realism in gameplay, which really f'd up most games in the past 10-15 years
  13. I think I could probably come up with a workaround for spider for almost any good idea posted here that he turns down after thinking about it for a few minutes..... most of the reasons he turns things down have workarounds..... some easy, some more complex.... but I'll let him come to me with any idea he wants a workaround to implement.... I'm not gonna post fifty million workarounds to all the fifty million ideas that u guys come up with and then spider shoots down.... me and spider have a good relationship and if he wants to bring an idea to me and get a workaround to fit it into the zone, I'll leave that to him. Also, I'd like to say, as far as players with good ideas.... Unix typically has ones that are a notch above most of other players I've noticed.... psythe also..... and if I think of any other players who's ideas are typically of a higher caliber, I'll let you know....
  14. Whoa, bargeld! Long time no see....
  15. We want to add content that will bring the pros back to playing more than content that will add a ton of newbs who can't read the first bright green instruction on how to buy stuff..... If we gain too many newbs, we're going to have chat full of newbs, and zone full of newbs and we'll need a lot of mods/jrmods to handle all the newbs.... which is fine, but we want the core players first.... people who played through a reset and got bored.... we want to bring them back... And I don't think it's a bad thing at all that the zone kinda screens people out like "u must be this "smart" or ask for help before you can play in this zone" We are so newb friendly because we have a good community who's willing to help newbies..... I say, if they can't follow instructions or don't ask for help.... let them go.... we don't need that kinda pop until we get things kicking on all gears.....
  16. spittnacids idea is the whole concept is highly practiced in the gaming world.... they actually plan expansion packs to games when they are developing.... so they get you to spend $25 more..... in addition to the $40-$50 you shelled out for the game in the first place...... with subspace being free, expansion packs = population boosters.....
  17. It's true, even if you talk developement for 10 years and never come through, Boom: Headshots are good any day cause it shows you spend those 10 years actually learning stuff, even if all your ideas wound up being too hard to finish. Ideas are always good, and I think new ships would bring a spark to our zone.
  18. I agree with SpiderNL.... and cheese's strategy for doing stuff.... Developement is full of people not coming through with promises.... so it's better to start your track record with "BOOM HEADSHOT".
  19. Sorry for singling you all out...esp cheese.... this discussion I think is more profitable than I could have hoped for.... While I never did get around to ASSS I'm hoping to have a few surprises for the zone in the coming months..... getting others to pitch in wherever they found a nitch would be great. I might suggest cheese be promoted to Staff Troll when you ?listmod. Because his trolling is usually right on target, just very inconsiderate That way his trolling could be somewat sanctioned by the staff..... IDK.... I COME UP WITH CRAZY IDEAS.... U GUYS MAKE TAKE IT AND RUN WITH IT AND MAKE IT NOT SO CRAZY.... KKKK?????
  20. if you really want to contribute..... http://www.subspace..../page__hl__asss And cheese, don't bother saying anything. You're problem is not you don't know coding, your problem is u asss.
  21. someday I will release a guide..... until then... none y'alls know my stratgies....
  22. truths..... but given you did climb the ladder.... you should be known in the zone..... and you can use that to make friends.... and start helping contribute to the developement of the zone yourself.... so that after next reset (which are necessary due to programming changes)..... the ladder won't be the same.... However, since spider is the only kid programming this zone.... u might want 2 try climbing the ladder moar better....
  23. Cheese is so full of it, he doesn't even remember all the crap he said to you a year later..... like that he told me he works for hidden street/maple story.... he's like "how'd you know".....
