Why you should opt for a gun with multi in the center.
op2rules replied to Aileron's topic in Strategy & Player Guides
Mmm, most non-complainers are quite aware of the 40-angle factor already, but glad somebody was arsed to make a detailed topic on it. -
Not liking the blue safe zones, they look cool compared to the green we're all used to, but green make a whole lot more sense for a "safe" zone.

Well this comes as a surprise to me.

You don't lose cash for going from wininng -> losing, and if your internet sucks you prob dc'd before the >8 minute timer is up, if you happen to meet all the criteria then you lose 5k for having fail internet. Just like if you were on winning and you lagged out you'd lose more like 10-30k for lagging.
-
Make it so if there are 12 flags held/dropped on a team and you were flagging for >8 minutes or something and you leave YOUR flagging team u get auto degranted 5k. Hopping will be too risky, ragequitting won't be worth it. Problem solved. Tyranny. Works.

If I redid it... and it was better... would you implement it?

That is not very hard. The hard part is having the bot fly to the optimal position. Would it really be that bad if the bot just randomly flew a bit in a random direction (maybe not completely random, but you get the idea), then take a second to turn around and shoot, then fly around for a second, then take a second to shoot, etc. Then if your energy is low it would focus more on shooting? It wouldn't be OPTIMAL but the idea isn't to make these bots invincible either...

Hey I was just wondering how fast everyone here can actually type There are 2 kinds of typing tests btw, there are some that use the 5 character = 1 word method, and others that use random words. Also some tests are loaded with texts that contain quotation marks, capital letters, and all that crap, while others have almost none, so you might wanna take a few tests (or do the ones I did). Either way, this is the first test I did... It was the Astronaut test for 1 minute. Here were my results: http://j.imagehost.org/0198/Capture_1.png You can do this test @ http://www.typingtest.com/ Next I did a different test, this test used common everyday world words and had you type em out as fast as you could, here are my results: First Attempt : 103 with 1 mistake Second Attempt : 100 with 0 mistakes Third Attempt : http://a.imagehost.org/0486/1_127.png You can do this test @ http://speedtest.10-fast-fingers.com/ Now I'm also quite away there are like 100 different ways to fake your test results (Cheat engine, macro, firebug, photoshop, etc) but I'd just ask you don't fake your results, slow typing speeds are nothing to be worried about, in fact it might actually be something good, sorta like the whole "I have a life" thing .. It's all in perspective. Anyways, I wasn't sure where my typing speeds stood with the rest of the world, so I figured I'd post up this and see what you all get!

I REALLLLY doubt vulching of a bot would be even the slightest but worse than the current vulching of players currently in the zone. Infact, it would make sense to have it target the person with highest energy first (of 2 ships near each other). Either way, I still think having 2 or 3 bots flying around the zone would be AWESOME! I'm in no way equipped to start programming whatever is needed for this, but I think if a lot of its movements are random it will be pretty hard to kill. Hard as in, not the skill level of a player using only one finger. Something a bit higher than that. Anyways, it probably won't happen, but if anyone starts it and can't finish, I'd gladly take on the project.

Hey I was just thinking how it would be really neat to have 2 or 3 bots that fly around center in warbirds/javelins and actually kill people. If I recall correctly this was actually a reality at one point? Either way, I think it would be really cool if the bots would fly around areas of center where people usually don't hang around. If Corey was correct, the old bots that there used to be would play as about an average player, not something that is super easy to kill, but they were far from invincible. I'd like to know why they were ever removed? Isn't something like this just pretty damn cool to have in the zone?

Get used to it bud, it's called a game. If being banned for 3 days means this much to you, it's probably the healthiest thing for you right now...

Hey guys just figured I'd let everyone know the website is back up, for anyone who hasn't done so yet, you can get it at http://sshyperspace.net/

I think an IRC Network dedicated to SSGN would only make sense. Give it channels like #lobby, #trenchwars, #request, etc. Then install things like IBIRC/WebIRC etc on the forums. I really think this would boost the community. A lot.

Well, considering that most of the data on the website is intact I'm assuming (duel scores, item usages, squads, etc) the MySQL is 100% intact. The important database(s) anyways. With that, I really don't see any reason why you would err.. not use a backup? Even if the security flaw that was exploited hasn't been fixed, it's not like anything was actually lost ... ... right?
-
I don't think he was asking if this was possible, hell the center of the HS zone right now has those exact "warp pads" in every corner, not once but three times... I believe Corey wanted to know if it was within reason to put that in a basing map for HS.
-
I had a brilliant idea too of using that top10 thing to determine jp rewards a little too, like the #1 player gets an additional 15% of the jackpot, etc.
-
Wtv let it be cheese that kind of response is only expected from arnk
-
May I ask what is your excuse for lack of backups?

Alright guys I know a lot of you are a bunch of whining suckers out there, but honestly I think HS flagging has gotten really good! I mean think about it, a fg happens around every 20 minutes on average (remember before fgs would take like 4 hours sometimes?) I think this is perfect because if you only plan on playing hs for about an hour you don't work hard for a team and then get no reward! That brings me to the fact that the fg rewards are also quite legit! I mean really on average an fg gives about 15-20k and big ones are in the 40s. This is perfect I mean really lots of cash makes hs a lot more sensible now as you don't have to spend 10 hours to make cash for something simple. Lastly, of course there is a lot of hopping, but seriously I don't think its really that bad as people make it out to be. Sure a few people hop but if you think about it the hopping only really occurs once the fg is over already anyways, that actual flagging part of it remains intact. So is it just me, or is everyone just a bunch of whining bastards and can't learn to appreciate time and effort put into balancing the game?

Infact, it was charmed's base 1, not 3.

Awesome work. Only thing I would change is remake center.
