  1. Quite good - a bit too garish in my opinion, though.
  2. It will take a while to download... Anyway, I think for modelling something like this a freeware program such as Blender would be fine... Also try Wings3D, which is more specifically for creating single models then Blender.
  3. Well... at the moment, I believe that the players of SubSpace do not see much... umm... difference between the Continuum client and your new Discretion one, and while a dev or programmer may be able to think of the advantages that a modular client would provide a normal player would not be able to. Er... perhaps focusing on the interface more would help - but I suppose you could leave that to later. Just something to keep in mind. P.S. What is with the weird spider? Edit: you could also see if someone else (not me!) is willing to work on the graphics while you do the coding...
  4. You could try making sure that you have no other programs that need to access the internet (i.e. browsers, download managers, etc.) running while you play the game, as they will use up your bandwidth.
  5. Do you have a non-standard theme? Sometimes, they can be a problem on machines with bad graphics cards... I think...
  6. Maybe this will help... I have always noticed that after running SpaceCowboy (another online game), Continuum never seems to run, it has all the problems listed here. However, if I restart the computer, it seems fine.
  7. Is it that the colours in-game all look funny? If so, try running it windowed or closing all other programs when playing.
  8. Why doesn't subspacenews.com create its own forum?
  9. And I am what? No, I don't suggest that you 'kill' the foundation of the 17th parallel. I am merely making an observation of a reason why I believe the 17th has been losing popularity. Perhaps a tutorial for new players is needed
  10. I just have to say - Continuum is a more widly used word than Subspace. After all, continuum means something most people know, while Subspace is a rather obscure word. Also, I believe that the full name of the game will remain to be 'Subspace Continuum'... Also, what is the name of the server again?
  11. Interesting idea... but I think it will have to be much easier to use - even, perhaps, more than the old SS one... therefore people will be instantly attracted to it and won't say "what for?"
  12. Perhaps that is the reason (the comic's one). However, I believe that there is one main reason why the 17th parallel has been losing popularity (and, I have to say, may be almost dead). It is the skill needed to play the game. Because, when a new person comes to a zone, they (usually) want to be able to start playing immediately. However, in the 17th, even to master the rudimentary control of the different ships requires a fair amount of time. Most new players do not want to do this. So they will just wander away, never to return (I believe the term is churning). A bit like a badly-designed website, really. Oh well...
  13. Maybe that is true...
