Is subspacedownloads down for good now? What's the status of this? Are the files supposed to be uploaded to the download page on this site? How do I upload files, it says "I'm not permitted to upload this type of file" when I tried to upload some graphics.

let me reiterate again: Trench Wars is not arena sharing and has nothing to do with Hyperspace's reasons for inflating their population. Why would EG, PB, Chaos etc. care that hyperspace is inflating their population? When a new player (or even an old player coming back) downloads they are going to be naturally inclined to try the zone with the most population. The zone with the most population used to be trench wars, and rightfully so since they have the most players. Even with the inflation of other zones, Trench Wars is still #2 behind hyperspace. Trench Wars has lost it's #1 population ranking and gone down to #2, this is the main effect of Hyperspace's population inflation. So how is it fair to punish TW for what other zones, which TW has absolutely nothing to do with, are doing?

So? They will eventually and I hope this gets resolved before they do.

Trench Wars has raised 1000s of dollars for advertising and it's really not fair for hyperspace to be leeching off their advertising efforts with their massively inflated population. The most important thing about zone populations is that the most populated zone has the highest population number. Trench wars is the most populated zone. Also note that Trench Wars isn't even involved in the arena sharing thing. The people who run SSC (sscouncil?) should be doing something about this. Get together and either: 1. make hyperspace reduce their population inflation to around +100 so they are not at a disadvantage to the zones that are sharing the arenas. 2. stop the arena sharing and all of this zone population inflation altogether. The status quo is obviously unacceptable and should not continue.

But you see CZ/PB/EG are not sharing arenas just to inflate their population on purpose, it is a bug and side effect of sharing their arenas. Which makes what you're doing by comparison a lot worse. Even if they stop arena sharing it's not really gonna stop population inflation. Look at trench wars. They are not even arena sharing and there is 18 people playing the zone while their pop says 133 due to bots (at least 45) and afkers. By comparison Hyperspace has 13 people playing and would only have a population of 31 without adding 1000. So the only real solution is for everyone to inflate their population in a proportional way. Hyperspace should either start arena sharing with the other zones or just add about 100 to make the inflation proportional.

Not if someone is downloading the game for the first time or is coming back from a long break. The psychology of it should be considered as well, people are just more likely to enter the zone if the population is 1030 instead of 30. http://stats.sshq.net/zone/13/SSCE_Hyperspace: Compare the Monthly to yearly. Yearly is 6 ave playing and 19 ave population. For the last month it's 9 and 29. That's a 50% increase.

You're clearly wrong since having +1000 population will get new and old players attention to at least try the zone. If it were true though and 100 would be more believable than 1000 and hence better for Hyperspace, then what's the disagreement? Add 100 instead of 1000 and everyone wins. There is a big difference between what EG/Chaos/PB/etc are doing and what Hyperspace is doing. For EG/Chaos/PB the inflation is a side effect of arena sharing. With bots again the population inflation is a side effect, not the primary purpose. For Hyperspace the zone inflation is completely intentional and 1000% worse. Ever hear of the saying two wrongs don't make a right? Well if something is wrong why is doing it 1000% worse right? Like I said, add 100 so you're not at a disadvantage instead of giving yourself a huge advantage by adding 1000.

Clearly this population inflation gives them an advantage in attracting players from other zones and new players as well. I don't know who runs the billing server but whoever does should threaten to kick them off if they don't stop. Any other possible penalties should be considered as well. Allow them to add 100 so they are at no a disadvantage to the zones that are linked and have their populations inflated as well. Adding 1000 however is just bullshit and should be stopped immediately.

Like what? That's the problem with the tea party, only generalizations and no specific details of what they want to cut.

That was mostly me and an auto mouse clicking program. They probably weren't added that recently, the link may have been updated and now the link to old installer (after i emailed freakmonger and he made it work again) now downloads the new 7MB installer.

The best you can hope for is Trench Wars setting it up as a sub-arena and having it played as an event every once in awhile.

Speaking of ssdownloads, when you click "How do I play Subspace/continuum" on the main page it brings you to: http://www.subspacedownloads.com/index.php?act=introduction then when you click "download" it has you download version 0.38, maybe you could update that so it downloads version 0.40
