  1. There may be less murders but we have over a 5% lower crime rate ironically. And of course these numbers are from 98-00 so things might be better or worse in certain areas now. There are many factors to take into consideration also. Diversity is one, like the fact that in america something like 94% of black men are killed by black men. And I don't know the statistics exactly but the majority of gang members are black, and the majority of murders occur between gangs. Being we have 10% higher black population, and 4.92 times the population. In america we have an estimated 12.9% african american population, which equates to 38,499,304, the UK only has 60,609,153 people to begin with, and the fact that they only have 2% black population means they only have 1,212,183 blacks. I dont' know how credible the source is but one source I found says that 52% of all murders in the united states are committed by black americans. So I mean statistics are not black and white there are many things to consider. Edit: tonight I added - So if we assume that the ethnic murder % is the same in the UK, statistically speaking, and assume that the united states only had a 2% black american population, then instead of having 12658 murders a year there would only be 7096 murders. Which would right there drop us down to .0237766 per 1000. I just want to point out with all of this that all numbers can be used to benefit either side. I could also show what this would do to the firearm rate but I'm way too tired for that.
  2. Astro you get the statistics of how many people are killed because of guns but you don't ever see statistics on how many lives are saved because of them. And as I have said before and sil said, we have a democratic republic, not a true democracy. So don't argue about a true democracy. A majority of murders in the united states are gang related. Also its something like 93% of black males are killed by other black males and 89% of white males are killed by other white males. So it's the countries fault that a small amount of people are dumb !@#$%^&*es and are killing each other.
  3. Sever your arguement is scewed as you cannot compare the usage of trasportation to that of a weapon. A gun is a weapon, and a weapon intended to harm other beings. A car is how we get to where we need to go. When a gun is used, it is used on a rare occasion and meant to cause damage. A car on the other hand is not. And if you take the ratio of how many people use cars vs how many people use guns that would be a more accurate ratio, but still not quite the same.
  4. Its definately an overheating issue. I'm having the same problem yet mine is set to reboot when it over heats. I need a new cpu fan, and ordered one that was off from the measurments listed and doesn't fit. So to fix the problem I use a box fan on it with the case off.
  5. Sever, so if the majority of people were against abortion we should take that away? If the majority of people were against womens rights should we take that away? If the majority of people decided lets inslave people again, should we let that happen? I'm sick and tired of people !@#$%^&*ing about guns because they don't fit into their pansy !@#$%^&* padded idea of the world. Not having guns won't stop people from killing each other. First off people who really want to kill people will get guns. Second we are killing machines. The human being can kill in thousands of ways. What's next? We're going to ban martial arts because people get killed when it is used out side of its intended purpose? Because someone learned it from an "uncertified" teacher, who normally teaches you worse things? in 2001 42,116 people were killed in car accidents, and over 3.5 million were hurt. In that same year 29,573 people were killed by guns. Almost 17,000 of those were suicides and about 800 were accidental. So I say we should take away peoples right to drive cars and force them into public trasportation. There has yet to be a year in which the gun deaths have been higher then the car deaths. Yet why is that not an issue? Its much easier to get a car than it is to get a gun. You don't need character references and it doesn't matter what you've done in your past you can get your license. But you see that would inconvenience these people. Not having guns doesn't effect them, they don't want them anyway, so why not take them away? But if you try to take away something from them, oh wait we can't do that now. If you think about it, forcing everyone into public transportation would help for all you global warming activists too. There is a reason why we're a democratic republic. People in the United States only think about what is best for themselves with no regard to how it effects their neighbors.
  6. I think rice is the only woman I would think of for president at the present time.
  7. I will always know you as snoob.
  8. lol you really sound as if you have no idea. What is a $50 gun to a dealer who pushes over 10k a month? With drug dealers you get one mistake and you're dead. They don't want to lose a cent, do you think they're gonna send their merchandise out with no protection? I'd love to meet these drug dealers. Well I mean I don't know what I would expect from drug dealers that would let an 18 year old girl become an expert in their ways in 4 + major cities/areas. I know the in depth working of a good amount, of Onondaga county (a decent part of central NY) drug dealers. I know this from well over a decade of personal experiences with them that need not be discussed here. It takes year, no matter what city you're in until you even meet the guys that aren't nickel and dimers. And unless your father is in the mafia, it would be impossible for you to know how the inner workings of drug dealers in these areas. And even if your father was in the mafia, you wouldn't know the details because unless you have a strange family, women in the mafia don't see the dirt and deals. So I know yet again you are going to come back with an unbacked, hypothetic unexplained answer that of course I can't prove your personal experiences ect ect. so from this post on I'm out of this topic too. You cannot debate a topic with someone when they debate in hypotheticals with no grounding or backing.
  9. Soldiers are not civilians. Military forces can be good if you like your life run for you. If you like to think for yourself...well I wouldn't recommend it.
  10. hard core? 2 different kids I know got shot and killed over losing $1800 worth of pot, and the other was killed over losing $2200 of meth. I live in central new york actually, and their suppliers came from toronto, buffalo, albany and NYC, I do not know where their suppliers came from. Where I come from dealers don't play around. If you lose THEIR merchandise, you either pay them the cost or they'll take it from you. There aren't monthly installments. i grew up in area where all my friends and everybody around me were drug dealers too. perhaps there are 2 different types of suppliers. i don't know where exactly you're from, but places like new york, toronto, philly, mostly the east coast. suppliers don't care if your own life is lost, or if you get jumped for your drugs. if your drugs get stolen and your supplier is out 3 g's, guess who has to make it up? you. anyway you can get that 3 g's back, that's what you have to do. this is how it works with hardcore drug dealers, so our situations may be different in a lot of ways. many drug dealers are rich. i know drug dealers who make a better living than engineers.
  11. well put ail.
  12. All I will say is it is pointless to argue the difficulty of a sport with someone who has never played it on a compe!@#$%^&*ive level. Its like saying its not hard to drive in nascar. Now I hate nascar, and think it's an awful sport, but there are not many people who can drive like they do, how they do it. And I never stated football needed more skill, just more athleticism. Over and out team.
  13. It's not your every day thiefs and muggers that are committing the majority of the murders. Its the gangs and drug dealers. Its the people who have the money and or resources to get them that do. Not saying that some street muggers and thiefs don't have guns, but they are a very very low fraction of the murders that occur from guns. Even if a street mugger or thief has a gun, the majority of the time they won't use it. And I don't know about you, but I'm !@#$%^&* proud of my country, and proud that we have our bill of rights, the very basis for how we have become the country we are today. If you don't like the cons!@#$%^&*ution, or our bill of rights, I suggest you go to a country where if you even mention that you think the president isn't doing a good job, you will never be found again. As for the prices, it would actually be cheaper to buy illegally than legally, because it is not the price of a handgun that is the expensive part, you have to pay at least in NY, $200 in fees, plus take a course, which has a fee, and then if you buy a gun from a dealer there is a huge markup. That VT kid paid $571 for a 9MM and 50 rounds. Just search the internet and see what kind of deals you can get.
  14. First off LOSA, coming from an area where growing up I lived and was friends with drug dealers, never once did they pay for their guns. Because their "merchandise" isn't their merchandise. It is someone else's, someone who has a lot of money invested in it. Your local drug dealers are not rich, so if 3g's of drugs get stolen, the supplier is out 3g's. They don't like to be out 3 dollars. If guns were illegal it would be a much more profitable enterprise as there would then be a high demand for guns, and no guns to be found. You take away our right to bear arms you take away our right to protect ourselves. And where do we stop? I mean if we can take away the right to bear arms, do we take away the right of freedom of speech? We're already pushing on that one. http://frontpagemag.com/Articles/ReadArticle.asp?ID=27434 Pro choice people argue that it is their cons!@#$%^&*utional right to choose, as decided by Roe vs Wade. Yet most of them support taking away our cons!@#$%^&*utional right to bear arms, something that was in our founding bill of rights. In 2006 the gun ban in DC was ruled uncons!@#$%^&*utional, and that is how it should be. And sever, on your scale cocaine is one of the drugs you can get the most money for, so why import pot when you can make 5 times as much from importing cocaine?
  15. Handguns are pretty expensive here. The Glock 9MM the VT shooter purchased cost him $571, and included the 50 rounds of ammunition. So if you import 10 glocks, and sell them at $300, almost half of market value, thats 3g's. It is very economical to import guns. Besides, every small timer has his supplier, who has his supplier who has his supplier who has a lot of money and a lot of guns. They don't want their merchandise getting stolen, so they arm these people. Most of your drug dealers don't pay for the guns they own, their suppliers do.
  16. Well I'm using not only knowledge you learn about each sport through many resources, but the fact that I played both sports for a division AA highschool.
  17. lol 5-10 seconds? If you have 5 to 10 seconds to throw a p!@#$%^&* as a quarterback you have the best offensive line the NFL has ever seen. And the entire time you're contained to a small area where you have 3-7 300lb 6'3-6'7 men trying to swat you and your p!@#$%^&* to the ground. Plus mind you, you have a helmet on so you have a limited view of the field. A tall QB is 6-6'2. Really tall is 6'3-6'5. So you are throwing over men taller than you. Plus in those seconds as the ball snaps you have to read the defence, watch if the safeties are on their toes or their heels, figure out if the linebackers are blitzing, droping into a zone or runing a man formation, if your reciever is open, if the safty or linebackers aren't lending him help, how many yards you need, is the reciever far enough, is the corner on the left blitzing, where is the defensive line, did your RB pick up that safety blitz, remember where all of your recievers, TE and RB included are going and throw an accurate pass And thats just a nuts!@#$%^&*. The quarter back doesn't get to take the ball to the top of the key and survey the court. How many "star" cornerbacks are there in the NFL? How many "star" widerecievers are there? How many "star" running backs? Football not only takes a lot of skill, but it takes a lot more athleticism than basketball. NBA players are too frail for football. The first time Carmello Anthony got hit by a 5'10" 220lb corner who has spent his whole life learning how to hit people as hard as he can, his entire athletic career would be over. And those basketball players think they're fast and agile...just wait until they have to put on all those pads. Then you find you just how "fast and agile" you really are.
  18. sever by the time I was 17 I had, in my possession at one point or another, 3 different weapons that were not purchased legally. I did hang with a rough croud, but none of them were "big time" If I can get guns as a kid, anyone who really wants one can get one.
  19. As I've been both, its much easier to be the starting point guard than it is to be the starting corner back. You have no idea what you are talking about. There is a reason why NFL players don't come straight out of HS, and its not just because of size.
  20. A handful of people!? rofl. The only reason why there are more NFL players is because they have through a 3rd string, and play with 11 men on the field. in a ratio there are the same number of NBA players, as they only have a 5 man court, as there are NFL players. As for repition, what do you think shooting the ball is? Its no different than throwing the p!@#$%^&* to the wide receiver, you shoot the ball at the hoop repeatedly until you get good at it. In football, as in basketball, someone is actively trying to stop you from throwing the ball, except it can be touched on the way down And because football is more physical there are actually many more penalties you can get in football, but none of them are because of a slap. I played both sports in highschool. Basketball doesn't take more skill than football, it just takes more finesse, that is unless you talk to Barry Sanders. And football requires more teamwork than basketball.
  21. Well put drake. It is a parents duty to let their kids make the small mistakes they can learn from, and protect them from the big ones until they are better prepared to handle the mistakes and consequences.
  22. A debate about personal opinion is most often pointless. It ranks right up there with debating religion. Either way the point of a debate is not to change the mind of the person you're debating with, it is to concisely deliver and support your opinion on the matter. Debators on the internet rarely concede victory or defeat, so at some point you always have to just move on once you feel you've made your point to the best of you ability.
  23. It might not be a good factor to determine a lot of things, but it still doesn't mean I'd like it. Its like how in the united states 14% of men are over 6ft tall, but ironically something like 48% of fortune 500 CEO's are over 6 ft tall. And there have been a lot of studies that show people think a taller man is more capable to lead, and they make about $900 more a year per inch over the national height average. That is a terrible factor to use, but people use it subconsciously. Same thing with age. No matter how hard I try, subconsciously it will bug me.
  24. I won't lie. If my 14 year old daughter came home with a 17 year old boy, I'd be upset. I was a 17 year old boy once, I know what most 17 year old boys look for. Not all, but most. Call me overprotective but I would not be happy with it. And besides that it will be illegal for them to be active in a year. Now if she were 18 and he was 21 I would be ok with that. There is a lot of maturing that goes on between young teens and old teens. And from my personal experience in high school, the girls that dated older guys mostly did it to brag about dating older guys.
  25. my fiance is hot and cooks and cleans. She's going to be my little housewife.
